Giving ds griseofulvin while i am in 2ww/ttc....safe??

This is sort of ot but I'm really worried...Ds has ringworm on his scalp and has to take griseofulvin (oral med)...from what I read it can cause birth defects and I'm terrified to touch it...what if it gets on my skin?? Anyone have experience w this?

I don't have experience with griseofulvin. My Mom took it for ringworm on the scalp when she was a kid.

I would definitely steer clear of it for sure!! Wear gloves if you have to handle it.

FYI as a side note... I foster puppies and cats all the time. One of my kids got ring worm on his back and I put dog "lime dip" on it. One treatment and it was gone. I would try this in the hair also. Dogs and cats have a ton of hair and it works on them. Plus you dip them from head to toe and they are fine. I know it is unconventional but it works!!

Talked to pharmacist and she said to wear gloves and I should be ok... I don't want to delay DS getting treatment b/c he could have permanent hair loss.
Didn't give him any meds yet, going to talk to dh tonight and if we agrees will do it tomorrow night.... maybe we'll test (hpt) tomorrow too.

You should be fine as long as you remember to wear the gloves and throw them away every time you dose him. If you accidentally drop a pill I would wipe down where ever it fell and throw away (or wash immediately) whatever you use to clean the area. I tell people to treat pills like that as if they were poop. Once you touch them with the gloves don't touch the gloves to anything else. I am sure it is an overkill but better safe than sorry!!

WantingPink...well it's actually liquid, not pills, which makes me even more nervous!! DH said this morning that he will give him his meds...believe me I am a hypochondriac so will clean everything carefully after he's done!! I was so paranoid about toxo with DS3 that I literally didn't touch raw meat (my poor family lol, lots of carry out) the entire PG!!! :O
