Eating sweets sways girl?
I don't know what got into me this week but I have been eating cakes and cookies and chocolate!! I'm so mad at myself. I don't know if its my body telling me enough of this swaying. I have been watching what I eat/ttc for almost six months. I just want to be pregnant and stuff my face. But I'm gradually starting to stuff my face anyways. Ahhhh ok. Hoping I ovulate someday and give this another shot without ruining everything.

It can as long as you don't have PCOS or insulin resistance. Be sure you're eating at 2-3 meals per day and not just snacking constantly all day long.

Oh no.. I do have a minor case of pcos. I am eating 2 main meals. Lunch and dinner. I usually have a decent snack and consider it my 3rd Meal. So I guess sweets don't help pcos:(

Also, I,just read your pcos essay which was helpful. I am not the typical case. I am close to underweight, the only symptoms I have are irregular cycles and cysts.

It doesn't matter, sweets will still affect you negatively. I would follow one of the modified diets and be sure you do moderate exercise at the least. The 60 6-7 will be better, but everyone with PCOS needs to do SOME exercise because it improves your insulin response so much

Thank you. I don't go to the gym but my job consists of me constantly running around, never sitting. I have been adjusting what I eat for 6 months. I think the line on the opk is actually getting darker! Do I attempt or forget it because I ate sweets a lot this week and I don't work out enough?

I thought the old wives' tale was CRAVING sweets while pregnant meant a girl? That might be at least somewhat true for me because I felt like someone pulled my sweet tooth with my previous pregnancies, and I normally will eat dessert instead of dinner on any given day! Seriously, fruit was the sweetest thing I ever wanted. That COULD be why I gained 27 lbs with the first pregnancy and 33 with the second, LOL!

Haha that's funny. I thought I read somewhere sweets can sway girl but obviously not for pcos people. I'm almost in tears here and not really sure if I give this month an attempt or wait. It's been 6 months of waiting but now I'm just feeling like I haven't done enough to sway girl.

Go for it! TTC this month!!

Some really smart lady on these boards (and if I didn’t have foggy LE diet brain, I could remember who...) posted lately that scientifically speaking, everyone... ALL of us... have a 50/50 chance of conceiving girls or boys every time. All we’re doing with swaying is pushing those odds a bit one way or another. Nothing that is “girl sway” is 100% and nothing that is “boy sway” is 100%. So, even moms who do weight training and eat nothing but protein could have a girl. Even moms who are the most laid-back Marys and eat total LE could have a boy. There really isn’t anything you can do to “ruin” your sway or your chances of having one gender or the other. Everything you do to sway pink just is helping to push that 50% a little higher in your favor.

Personally, when I read that, I had a total light bulb moment. I can’t ruin this! :) My chances are as good as anyone else’s... in fact, better because I’m here and swaying. So if I have a cheat day and have some fried chicken (don’t judge me, that’s my cheat tonight!), it isn’t going to mean that, “Ohmigod, I’m having a boy now!” At the very, very worst, I still have a 50/50 chance of a girl... or probably better because 90% of the time, I’m doing everything listed by atomic to sway girl.

(P.S. I totally feel you, too, because I was on LE for over a year before I TTC. Way too long. I wish I had started sooner, but I was waiting for the “perfect” month to do it. There is no perfect month. :) )

While I LOVE the sentiment and yes we all have a chance at our DG, unfortunately it's not true that we have a 50-50 chance every time. If you look at the boy sways and their consistent 75-80% success rate since the earliest days of the site, and then the "how we got our boys" when most of us were eating straight off the HE Diet playbook, I think it is the God's honest truth that without swaying, some of us would be 80% likely to have another boy.

When you look at it in that light, 50-50 is a HUGE improvement. I always said I would take 50-50 and the flip of the coin at that point because no way in Hell did I have a 50-50 chance when I TTC DS 1,2,3. Some of us are boy making machines and it is a triumph to get to 50-50, let alone the 65% that we have gotten.

The 50-50 b/g ratio is across the population as a whole. IT does not mean that any one individual's odds are 50-50.

There's all kinds of bullpucky theories out there, but they can't all be true. :)

For PCOS it's better to at least start off without them and see how it goes first before adding them in if you really lose gobs of weight.
