Theoretically doesn't cinnamon regulate blood sugar levels therefore you don't have low blood sugar which I thought swayed girl? I know it helps with weight loss but does the sugar thing not cancel that out? It seems to be working from the stats although I don't know how much is needed? Not swaying ATM just researching! Thanks in advance xx

I think cinnamon does regulate blood sugar somehow...I know our naturopath recommends it for my DH. DH puts a stick of it in his tea every morning.

I love cinnamon :) the cinnamon tablets say they help regulate blood sugar levels. I wonder whether they've been successful because they have helped people lose weight and therefore the condition was 'failing'? Two ladies I know who have had girls recently were overweight, then dropped a whole load of weight and were at their lowest weight before conceiving. Wonder if someone without much weight to lose would be better off not having these as the balance of blood sugar to weight loss would be off?? Xx

Hmmmmmm...

IMO, it seems the cinnamon will help if you have high blood sugar levels. If your levels are normal (and you are not overweight), it probably won't do anything. DH has a few lbs to lose, but I wouldn't consider him overweight. He hasn't lost any weight from the cinnamon (I don't believe so anyway).

I would not have you guys put a ton of stock into anything in the stats because many of the things in there are very misleading. The stats are helpful not because of looking at one thing in isolation but instead the general trends that stand out. The only way for us to really truly know if cinnamon is working would be for us to have a great big bunch of people use it while not doing anything else to sway.

Biologically I do think it sways pink because it lowers blood sugar levels. "regulate" can mean lowering unusually high blood sugar levels.

If you want to give it a try, use 1/4-1/8 teaspoon (that is a very small amount, you do not need more than that) stirred into foods and drinks every day. In the 2ww, I would taper that down considerably to more like a pinch a day.

Sometimes when people have a situation where their blood sugar goes unusually high (which the cinnamon could prevent) they get a rebound effect where their bodies release SOOO much insulin to deal with the high blood sugar that they then end up with super low blood sugar and their whole day is like a roller coaster ride between the two extremes. Since cinnamon may help prevent the sky high level from occuring, it could also possibly prevent the super low blood sugar as well. Thus "regulating".

Please be careful with the stuff they write on herb packages, they use a lot of pretty unscientific terminology that really doesn't mean what it seems to mean.

Thanks atomic. :) you should have a sideline as a nutritionist!! That's a good way to look at it. I think the other point is that low blood sugar can cause your body to store food as fat can't it? So maybe the cinnamon helps stop that? Anyway A few chai lattes shouldn't hurt lol xx
