After being a stalker on this site for the past month, I think I am going crazy because I feel like I am having pregnancy symptoms. I am still on the bcp, because I don't want to ttc until this fall or winter. Tender bbs, cramping, sharp twinges, moody, headaches, vivid dreams, dry mouth/so thirsty, insomnia, sensitivity to smells, my diet pepsi tastes like crap!, nausea, I cried because my husband didn't like the pancakes I made the other morning, every day for the past week or so I have been feeling like this!! I know my pms symptoms are sometimes the same but not so much when I am on the pill. My periods have been way jacked up too, every 10-14 days it would start and last for 5-6 days, it sucks! It has done this every since New Years until this month and AF is due next Monday or Tuesday.

I want another baby, but I don't want one yet! Could it just be that I am reading and obsessing about my sway for the fall that I am thinking myself into feeling all these symptoms, is that at all possible? I want a chance to have a little girl and I am scared that if I did fall pregnant, I didn't get the chance to sway the way I wanted to and know I will end up with another boy(which I know I would love more than life itself). A few things I have been doing for the past 3 weeks, low calories, 60 min cardio and waiting until lunch time to eat. The only thing that could have happened was I was on an antibiotic for a couple weeks to clear up an infection in a tear duct(weird place, right!), otherwise I took my pill every morning at the same time- no missed doses. Am I just crazy!!!

It is possible to get pregnant on BCP, it's not 100% and antibiotics can effect it too. How many days into your cycle are you? I'd suggest you do a test when you think you'd be far enough along to get a result.

Maybe you're just having my symptoms for me cause I have NONE and I am pregnant! 😉

Antibiotics can make BCP ineffective and I think you had better take a test ASAP.

Getting pg on BCP can be a good pink sway tactic so if it's BFP, you are still in with a good chance of pink.

Thanks to both of you! My cycle has been all sorts of messed up the past few months. According to my pill pack I should start by next Tuesday. The nausea is killing me, I never had bad ms with my two boys, could be a good sign if I am pregnant. I ordered some cheapy internet tests yesterday, amazon is crazy fast so the should be here by the end of the week if not sooner . I will test as soon as they get here . Maybe I'm just getting sick, fingers crossedxx

I'm still taking my bcp. If I am pregnant is that bad?

I think you are suppose to stop taking the bcp if you suspect pregnancy.

I know when you are on antibiotics you are suppose to use a condom. I got pregnant because I didn't know that. There needs to be a giant warning label. lol

It depends on the antibiotic you were on, most antibiotics don't actually effect birth control. The main one that does is Rifadin-like drugs (I know this because I can't consent females patients if they are on this because I can't have pregnant people in our studies, I should also add I have only seen this prescribed twice). I have taken antibiotics before while on bcp (3 at one time last September for 1 month) I asked the doctors (I work in infectious diseases) and unless they made you vomit or have diarrhea, they are still effective. And even then it has to be so frequent that you can't keep anything down, at all. This is on the mayo clinic website

Can antibiotics decrease the effectiveness of birth control pills?

The effects of antibiotics on birth control pills may be overstated — except in the case of one antibiotic, rifampin. Studies clearly show that rifampin decreases the effectiveness of birth control pills in preventing ovulation. However, rifampin isn't used widely today.
I know someone may say that's not the case but remember bcp isn't 100%.

I just looked up what antibiotics i was on. I was on cipro for 10 days, I finished the day I started the placebo pills of my bc. Then they started me on cephelexin right as I started my new pack of pills.

My suggestion is to keep testing. If you don't get AF in a reasonable time frame, see your doctor.

I tested this morning with a cheap test and it was negative. Af should be here by next Tuesday so its still pretty early. I still have the same symptoms but am guessing I am obcessing so much about it that is causing these symptoms. I will test again in a couple of days, until then I'm going to try and not think about it.

Thanks everyone got your thoughts!

Well I think I'm in the clear. Period started last night. But I am not going to use those cheap internet tests anymore. The past two mornings I had very light positives, so all weekend I had been freeking out. I still am super tired and have cramps, the rest of my symptoms must have been brought on by me obsessing over this site. So in conclusion, yes I'm just crazy!!! Good luck everyone else and hopefully a few months down the road I will be ready to start my own sway!

To be honest I am a little Dissapointed and relieved at the same time. Needless to say after this little scare I definitely have baby fever:). Maybe I can talk my husband to trying earlier than this fall for baby #3(fingers crossed for a girl)!
