Mine are boring.
DS 1 was induced because of high blood pressure which really wasn't that high...that's a whole other story. ..but anyways I had an epidural with him and pushed for 4.5 hours spiked a 105 fever and passed out twice. Emergency c section which I was under general anesthesia for...awful experience.
DS 2 was a vbac. ..I was told it wasn't going to work but I pushed hard for it. Labor was 6 hours. Pushed 20 minutes had an episiotomy. I actually pulled him out myself. Haha
Ds3 another vbac. 5 hour labor pushed for 30 minutes. No tears or cuts needed! Perfect delivery.
Epidural for all 3 but the last two my doc required it in case of emergency. My contractions always start right at 2 minutes a part so it's hard for me to know when to go in!! My last birth was the first time my water broke naturally as well. After my waters break I start pushing within 30 minutes.

I only have one :-). My water broke 2 weeks and 5 days before my due date about 5pm. I didn't believe it at first, lol, and told hubby he needed to come home from his golf game. Once in the hospital, I was not dialated at all so they started pitocin. I of course didn't want that, but didn't have much choice. I went without pain meds for the first 5 hours or so until about 4cm and then decided to give it a go, hoping it would help speed things along. Going into it, I was open to a natural birth or an epidural and decided I would do what felt right in the moment :-). Lucky for me, it was a great epidural. I could still feel contractions and dialed it down for pushing. Finally started pushing around 3:30am and she came 30 minutes later, 2 weeks and 4 days early and 7 lbs 7 oz :-) I did tear a bit, but didn't notice at all. Personally, I loved giving birth! I know I did it medicated, but I really enjoyed the whole experience and am hopeful this one will go just as smoothly!!
My story is fairly uneventful compared to so many of yours, lol. I love hearing them though! It's so amazing to me what our bodies are capable of!!

I don't either. DS1 and DS2 were on the left of my uterus early on per doctor and ultrasound tech confirmed with Doppler. I haven't bothered to ask since then as they were opposites.
Thanks for sharing!
I read some more about the Ramzi and the types of scans, and even Ramzi himslef says that his theory is not appliable is scan is sagittal. I believe mine was, because last time I was in (different doctor, but same room and probably same eqipment) the doc had a student with her and explained all about the level and how the scan is working. After reading about it now, it is obvious that the scan they made was sagittal and probably was now.
At least I'll try to think so to calm myself a bit. Realize i am starting to stress over gender already, questioning my own sway and mentally preparing for a third son. I know I will love this baby to pieces regardless of the gender, but still, I did sway for a reason.
I'll try to catch up in the thread, it's so active now - fantastic!

I've got the same issues Marika. I strongly believed it's a girl. but now I start doubting and thinking it has to be another boy. I will be the one that doesn't get her DG after swaying hard. (i thought I did well. and now I'm thinking I should have done better)
I guess feeling tired has something to do with it.... hormones and emotions aren't the best combination for me...
birthstories.. I try to give the short versions.
First My water broke at 7am and it was greenish. so we went to the hospital. I got there at 8 they checked first at 10. 4cm. at 11 5cm they didn't think it went fast enough. so they induced (i didn't want that) at 11.30 (7cm) I started begging for some paindrugs.. I got this morfine shot.
at 12.30 I wanted to push there was no one.. (I didn't care!)
After 45min there was a midwife present and i could push. After an hour and 15 min the OB came in and wanted they pulled him out with vacuum.
he was born 15.45.
It was horrible.
(they pushed everything way to quick.. should have let my body do the work)
The second one I was under control at the hospital because my blood pressure was slightly elevated. the OB wanted to induce me at 39 wks. I didn't want that. so he just made it lose and hoped it would helped birth a bit. I was allowed to homebirth cause I had a very good Midwife.
Later that evening I started contractions at 8PM. and the midwife arrived at 9.30PM and he was born at 11 PM
Last son I had contractions since thursday. On monday I saw the midwife.. she wanted to have a look and she stripped.. I got home contractions got heavier around 12.30 but was not regular. around 13.15 It hurt so much I let DH call the midwife and she was here 13.50. and he was born 30 min later.

Sweetdream - I think you are right about hormoes and tiredness creating some stress and worry. I'll try to stay calm. I know when we started the ttc I was very well aware of that it might be a boy and it did feel ok. After our loss I strongly felt that another baby is the main goal, a dd a bonus. But now, not knowing but still hoping, it's so easy to start thinking of what I could have done more to sway. Still, last pregnancy with the girl was totally unplanned and I was eating everything like meat, snacks etc, doing nothing to sway (or well, unintentionally maybe - I was ill and we only made i attempt) so I know it is a big piece of luck involved in this too.

So, here goes mine..
Ds1: I was induced because I was ten days overdue and he was a big baby,4.45kgs. I laboured for 19 hours and in between I had to have gas and air, epidural, my waters being broken and pitocin to speed things up. Finally he arrived after 2 hours of pushing and I ended up with a third degree cut. TBH, I don't remember much about the details of how things progressed with him as the epidural made me so sleepy. So, not the best experience. :(
Ds2: I went into labour five days overdue, although I had a membrane sweep two days before to kick start things (I didn't know about this with my first and I think they only do it when your cervix is soft/dilated/ready and I was none with him) well, it started at 9 minutes apart around 6am and stayed the same until 12pm, so I didn't feel the need to call the hospital to fill them in of what's happening, I knew they would rush me and tell me to come straight to the hospital coz it was a 45 min drive and second or subsequent babies come quicker...blah blah..and they would have been wrong and maybe sent me home again or rushed me to have another pitocin. So, around 1pm it went from 9min apart to 6min, this was when I called them and as expected I was told to come straight away or else I'll risk having baby in the car(wrong again), so when I got there around 2,30pm and was checked I was only 3cm, so had another sweep and my contractions went from 6min to 4mins and within half an hour I dilated another 2cm, and so far the only pain relief I'm using is gas and air (thàt was how I planned it), but things went slowly from there, so I was asked if could go and walk in the corridors with the supervision of a midwife, I walked for 20mins and it actually helped a bit as contractions went to 2min apart and I dilated another 2cm, and guess what the time was now? 6pm! And it stayed the same for the next hour and half, that was when they started talking nonsense, that I was getting tired and so was baby..blah blah..I told them I didn't wanna hear that and I was gonna have this baby when it was ready to come, I have come this far, so why rush me now when I only have 3cm to go, with no serious complications!?
In the end, they gave in and let me labour for the next 2 hours while still keeping a close eye on me and baby.
Finally, Ds2 arrived at 8.30pm (14 long hours of labour) weighing 3.90kgs after only10mins of pushing, and it was after I had episiotomy to avoid another third degree cut and tbh it was the best route to go as also healing time was much shorter.:)
With this one, I most certainly want to go as natural as possible, and I'm gonna discuss it with my midwife at my next hospital appointment which is this Friday the 4th.

Hi Ladies! So much has gone on here since I last checked in! Have been busy getting our house on the market and trying to keep it clean with 4 littles has been beyond tiring and frustrating. Will take time to read all these lovely birth stories - I love hearing others experiences!
AFM- had my NT scan today at 12+6. No nub showed up in pics and I guess that's good since I really want to stay team green. I think the two pictures she gave me were identical though. They aren't even nub shots, and can't get a good look at skull either since it's face on! Oh well, I'll post them anyway in case anyone gets a vibe either way. Heartbeat was 150 which is really no clue either, except both my girls were 165+ at this stage. 1963319634

I guess I'll hang here for a bit...no March 2015 up yet! I just got a positive this morning at 8 DPO and its nice and dark, not even a squinter. I tested with SMU too! So I am hoping its a snug bug in there! We will be due 03-16-15. Not hoping boy/girl strongly. Just sticky and healthy :)
You guys are nice and chatty!! I've been reading a few pages and looked up to realize I was only on "yesterday." Lol. I hope you don't mind if chill here for a bit. Chances are ill have a late-Feb baby anyway. But I'll prolly still move over when the new boards go up, I'd rather be at the beginning than the end ;) Lol.

I had a super silly question or rather observations I wanted to ask everyone about
Since starting the swaying and ttc journey, I've obviously starte d noticing who has how many, what they do, look like etc..
One thing that girl moms almost all have in common is how they react. .they seem super chilled out, relaxed and calm about things in general
I am no where near that person unfortunately. ..do you think it all might come down to your temperament? ? Lol

I don't believe food cravings mean anything. I had completely opposite ones with two of my boys. The only thing I've noticed is aversions being different. My first three pregnancies I would gag if you brought meat around me and this time I love meat...no issues at all.
I am still pretty much morning sickness free...it's so crazy! I did feel sick when I smelled warm clean laundry I was folding yesterday. ..how odd!! I've been able to eat just fine when normally I don't eat from week 5 to week 13. I don't crave anything either though so that's good. I better get back to the gym though to keep my weight gain at a minimum.

I have been feeling much more emotional this time around than I did with my first two pregnancies. I break down in tears over silly things or I get really angry and irritated. I'm trying not to read too much into what that might mean though. I have my first appointment next Thursday when I should be 6weeks 6days and they might do an initial dating us. I don't know how some of you ladies can handle holding out until 12-20+ weeks! That would drive me insane....
and the Martha in me really comes out when I am pregnant...Yikes!

futureminime, that is how i am now too (and carrying a girl according to blood test and nub theory). the silliest and slightest things can get me teary eyed...and my poor boys, boy can they irritate me more than usual too. i know that symptoms can be different for every women and baby but, still it's somewhat promising if it's a bit different from your other pregnancies. good luck on your scan next week.

I am about 16 weeks so 4 more to go for the anatomy scan. I had a dating US at 8 weeks and a NT at 13 weeks plus an elective at 14. SO I've had enough- it's just knowing the health of the baby that I'm anxious for- making sure everything is growing as it should be. And really you don't know that until that 20 week scan.
belledandy
July 2nd, 2014, 11:05 PM
lala, did you get to take any genetic or chromosomal blood tests? i did at 10 weeks and all turned out normal/negative, but i'm still also anxious to see that baby is indeed healthy at 20 weeks as well since i'm considered a woman of "advance maternal age" now. i'm not planning to do the amniocentesis though since the blood test result was negative.

Rosie, I hope you feel better soon. I have not been feeling great at all today but I got very little sleep last night. I feel that the universe is playing some sort of cosmic joke making sure that my sleep is interrupted as much as possible now. It hasn't even been pregnancy related.
Belle, I have been obsessing over anything pregnancy related, not just possible gender signs. I have been so distracted at work that I have been spending way too much time on these boards and the babycenter boards. It's like all I can think about.

Is it weird that I have no desire to find out gender?? I feel at ease at the moment. I really might be able to make it 33 more weeks without finding out. hotdogz&boyz
July 3rd, 2014, 02:49 PM
Rosie!! Go team green with me!! Lol. We can cheer each other on :) Although I hope yours is a girl even more than I hope mine is ;)
I don't want to know gender this time because I want something different. But I'm lucky in the sense that I don't have a great preference (ill admit I have a *small* one, but super-small). However, I also know it will be hard for me. I don't do surprises well and despite that, I feel it's something I will regret not doing...waiting for that final moment and having my husband tell me what the baby is. I think he needs that moment too. He isn't terribly connected during labor and delivery.
But I have an insane amount of stretching. Whew. I guess four kids, nine pregnancies, in five years will do a number on your body! I had my blood work this morning and will have three more draws each two days apart. Hopefully it shows things are headed in the right direction. My tests look really good. Mine today was almost the same as the control line and I am supposedly 10 DPO. Plus, all of my healthy pregnancies have given me positives at 8-9DPO and all of my not-healthy ones have have 11+. Which is interesting, but seems to be something of a pattern with me. So I hope this follows suit. I hate how nervous I am at the beginning. I even wanted to tell DH in a fun way, but ended up just telling him because I couldn't stop being nervous. Lol. He gets it though.
I think all random stretching and twinges are normal, even if you haven't felt them before. Each pregnancy gets harder on the body and causes new stuff! Sorry a few ladies are feeling yucky. Mine has not come yet. I get a few waves of nausea here and there, mostly over a smell of some sort. But nothing terrible. I am so early though that I know my symptoms won't come for a week or two. Plus, I really think that nursing helps them be milder. Could be my imagination, but I think already having some of those hormones in place helps them not be so dramatic on the body.
In other news, my 14-month-old daughter just slept through the night for the first time last night!! Yahoo :) I hope she makes it a habit!
Rosie85
July 3rd, 2014, 03:19 PM
Hotdogz that is a good way to think of it...my husband really wants that moment so I will do it for him! Besides if it is a girl for me it will be the most amazing moment in the entire world! Happy to hear your daughter slept through the night!!! I also think this bean in sticky for you. A test line that dark at 10dpo!? Must be twins!!!! Lol.

I had this same thing for a few days in a row non-stop (the pulling twinging pain)! It's almost more difficult after you have been pregnant once because you can't help but compare. I have been super dizzy this time around- even before I get out of bed and having sciatica super early on. It's always something!

They were about the streching and pulling so the ongoing conversation answered my question in a way :-) this time, I feel much more relaxed and feel that this pregnancy will go full term

I guess I think its a boy.

I once dreamt that my brothers girlfriend gave birth to a puppy while I was preggo. I don't put a ton of stock into a dream you have about the baby. Our subconsciouses are screwing with us then! Lol.
And gosh, I doubt it's twins! Nor do I particularly want twins. It does seem kinda early for such nice lines. But I figure it probably means I have a strong pregnancy and ill take that (I hope!). But I prefer my bebes one at a time, if I get a choice. (Although I certainly wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, twins would be a blessing!)
(I forget what others said already. I feel like I wanted to respond more. But it's late and I guess I need to head to bed)

Rosieive had the pulls really bad his time! I think it may also have to do with not having tons of time between pregnancies and I've blamed a lot on me just being older;)
I hope you're not sick:( sooo sucks!
I have been moody too. Everything irritates me or makes me cry . today I don't feel good. I'm not sure if the morning sickness is just finally hitting me late or if its just a randomly bad day. Im hoping for the latter. Last night I had pulling pains on my lower left that lasted constantly. I'm used to quick twinges but this was never ending. Think its normal??

All you girls going green! That was my plan and I would have stuck with it if I hadn't see. What I did at 12.5 weeks! I tried desperately not to see a nub but it was glaring at me! Lol! I am sad I won't get that delivery room suprise but I felt I was leaning heavily one direction so it wouldn't be much of a surprise anyway so might as well get some fun ahead of time! Just glad it turned out the way I wanted since I did see!phew:P

I don't really believe the dreams either.. (50% chance) but it got me off somehow. it was the most beautiful baby boy I'd ever seen! could never have been mine with black eyelashes and dark eyes.. (or I need to explain something to my DH:omg:) but he was amazing.. the I woke up at 4. and realized.. it was just a dream.. and there I was... thinking.. this is boy nr 4. my dream of a girl is gone... (and another one is out of the question. but I felt right away maybe nr 5?.. as this one is 4yrs apart from his brothers.... )
I was thinking about finding out.. but for me its better to stay team green.
I don't want this pregnancy to stand in focus of the end of my dream..
and ofc the friend who is PG with me will have her girl. and I won't cause thats the way it always works.. NOT for me....

I got a pretty strong BFP at 8 dpo (and when I digged out out the test from 7 dpo from the trash the day after I could actually see something there to) and I have been checked - only one! :-D Got a bit worried as well since 8 dpo is pretty early! Twins are surely fantastic but I don't think my DH would survive it ;-)

July 4th, 2014, 11:20 AM
I had a dark line at 8DPO as well (7DPO was negative) and the day AF was due the digital test was saying 3+ on the weeks indicator. I was having my betas drawn and my levels rose super fast. Everyone in my other DD group swore up and down I was having multiples, but there is only one in there. Since I chart everything matches up with O day as well. With DS1 I didn't get a BFP until 12DPO and my levels doubled normally. With DS2 I got a very faint BFP at 9DPO and my levels also doubled at the average rate. With DD I got a faint BFP at 8DPO and my levels doubled much more quickly. The same is happening again this time and I'm hoping for another girl.

dreams during pregnancy do get a little vivid don't they? i read that it's b/c we can't sleep well, so we often wake up right after the dream (cuz of discomfort or needing to pee etc) with them fresh in our minds. even so, some very sweet dreams though ladies! i dreamt a few days before i got my bfp of a baby elephant visiting me, lol. since then, this baby's theme has been elephants now.

I'm not as nauseous as I was for a while...I found pretty pops, lemon drops, and peppermints to help. I threw up today and couldn't shake the nausea afterwards till I drank ginger ale and that helped. It has come in waves. Some days like today I just feel nasty but I have felt pretty good most of the week. I'm also thirsty and drink a lot of water. Gatorade is also refreshing.

So happy for you MumofSix!!! Hope this one's sticky and pink!
I've had two gender dreams this pregnancy. One was true, one was false. I think it's more what's preoccupying your thoughts than actual intuition... easy for me to say now that I'm not worrying, I know!
Actually, that's the funny thing. I'm scheduling my 20 week anatomy scan, and even with the Panorama results, I can't shake the fear that a penis will magically appear for the scan! Sigh, it's some kind of Gender Disappointment PTSD that prevents me from believing she's a girl until I physically SEE a baby girl in front of me! I actually held out a tiny shred of hope that my boys were girls until I saw them after birth, so I'm guessing this won't fully go away until December... silly, I know!
I was able to eat right away after BFP, but then again, this has been the hungriest pregnancy I've ever had. 10 lbs of weight gain, so far and I REALLY want to tone it down now!
Welcome to ALL the new BFPs, for as long as you hang out here :)

Congrats MomofSix! I will be in March with you, but riding on this thread right now since March isn't up :)
And I totally didn't believe mine was a girl until she was born. I had the most obvious potty shot in the history of girl shots (lol) and I was still obsessive every single time (i had an ultrasound) about seeing her girl parts and just KNEW she would come out a boy. But then the funny part was that I labored and delivered her...and it took me more than ten minutes of holding and cuddling and talking to her and all the sudden I was like "Oh, wait, is she really a girl?!" Lol. They assured me that everyone else had seen the parts and would have told me if it wasn't what I was expecting. But it was kinda funny that I totally forgot right then.
My tests aren't increasing as quickly now, which I think is common for me. I vaguely remember my other pregnancies had fast darkening tests and then slightly high betas, but nothing extravagant. I'd bet its just one. We do have twins in our family, but not really genetic ones. Although I know they come out of nowhere too. I prolly won't have an ultrasound til 8 weeks or so. If I can hold out that long. I'm having betas taken already. Ill get my results either Monday or Thursday (depends on if the want to give me two at a time or all four together). I'm hoping for good numbers. I need to stop peeing on tests because I am freaking myself out. Lol.
CooCoo...I never once regretted giving up team green to find out my daughter was on the way. I can totally see how it could backfire though, hence why folks wait! It's a tough call.

Unfortunately, we've never been able to do anything like that, or anything at all, as everyone is so nasty when they do find out. I told my parents via text message (they live 5mins away) with DS6 at 6months pregnant cause I just didn't want to deal with their comments in person.
I think this time we will tell the kids and it can get it around as slowly as they tell people.

I don't regret giving up the delivery room surprise either. This is our 4th, we've got all boys, and it looked like a boy at 12 week scan (potty shot, not nub). I was prepared for it to say boy on my harmony report. The shock, and disbelief i felt finding out girl at 14 weeks was overwhelming. I think i might have gone into shock had i found out at birth!! I've been enjoying buying her bits and bobs these past 6 weeks, a luxury that might have been a rushed exercise had i waited (newborn, 3 kids, Xmas looming, bf and exhaustion - don't think I'll be up for shopping trips!). I'm still worried the harmony, and 2 gender scans got it wrong! Seeing is believing, roll on November!! Still think of my bump as baby rather than girl/princess/dream come true on what was our last chance, things like this just don't happen to me! Xx

Oh that's awful MumofSix. Some people can be so rude and judgmental. It's your choice and your lives and it's sad people think they can have an opinion about it! Specially if they have exactly what they wanted in life like a daughter! Kids spreading the word sounds like a good idea.
Mrs Incredible I can't even imagine the feeling you must have. Like a dream being realised I guess. Mrs_Incredible, I know EXACTLY how you feel! It's like I'm pretending to be pregnant and that it's a girl. It's been such a mild pregnancy, and the dream of her being a girl just doesn't feel real at all. I've been buying a few things for her, and I'll be crocheting her a daisy headband soon, but I keep waiting for the "Ooops! We were wrong... this one's definitely a boy!"

Lilith, I've just had my 20 week scan. Tech was missing a personality and we were in and out very quickly. At first she said girl, but not 100% then thought she saw something between the legs, but thought it was cord!! She made a big deal about gender not being what the scan was for and not to paint the nursery and keep receipts!! All after she heard we had 3 boys! Gee thanks. I was just so happy that baby looked healthy and all the checks were clear. I'm as confident as a pessimist (lol) can be until i see it with my own eyes. Thought it would feel more real after the scan but luck of the draw tech wise wasn't in ny favour. She was the one who scanned me at 6 weeks after my loss and was as bad at that one too. Think she's a box ticket, not a memory maker for the parents.

Sorry Rosie, have no idea:(
hotdogz&boyz
July 6th, 2014, 12:31 AM
Rosie, I am experiencing lots of cramping and pulling on my left too. From what I understand, your uterus leans right and as it starts to fill with blood and fluids, it pulls on those muscles and can cause quite a bit of stretching.
Did you pee on more than a few sticks? Usually ectopic pregnancies will have low-rising beta levels. Not typically darkening tests and blood serums. That is what my doc told me. Plus, most ectopics also produce some bleeding beforehand. Spotting or light flow. Since the vascular system in the tubes are more sensitive than the uterus.
But I am experiencing a lot more tugging and cramping than I remember with any of the others. Which could be selective memory (I was reading back whe. I was pregnant last time and it seems I did experience some pretty intense sensations in that regard). So maybe it's normal of a fourth pregnancy?
Rosie85
July 6th, 2014, 01:40 AM
Oh thank you hotdogz. I feel much better about it all now. I have had zero bleeding and I took 3 pregnancy tests which got super dark and some ovulation tests which were all very dark as well. It could very well be an issue that just comes with a fourth pregnancy. ..kind of crazy the stretching hurts more when it's done it so many times before.

Congrats MumofSix on your BFP! So happy for you! Happy and healthy 9 months!:) Hope it's sticky pink bean for you!
What a cute announcements Mrs.I and Longing, love it!
AFM, it looks like boy #3 is on the way, which is/was something I was expecting and absolutely fine with it.
This reminds me of coocoobananas, huge congrats on your pink bundle! Such a great news! This might be me next time, if I'm lucky!;)
Although it's not official yet, but on Friday when I went for my appointment at the hospital, the midwife did a quick scan to check fluids around the baby with one of these portable scan machines that goes from room to room, she first checked the heart beat and the baby gave us a cute little wave which was awesome, and then she moved the wand around to words the legs and boom it was there(a penis) before I could even ask her if she could see what the baby was and I gasped 'did you see that?' 'See what, darling?' 'The boy parts!' 'No, let's try again, she said' And guess what? The cheeky little thing turned away! Nice one baby!
Anyways, I have my 20 week scan booked on the 22nd of Aug (I know, 2 weeks later and long time but it's my fault as we are going on holiday for 4 weeks, 2 in the UK and the other 2 in Dubai) and I'll probably know for real that it's a boy then.

It could still be a girl flower but it's great you have such a positive outlook either way!! I have an appt this coming Tuesday, it's like a class since I'm starting a new clinic so I won't even see a midwife then. I have my first midwife appt the next week on the 15th. I've had two of my kids be told as wrong gender in the 15 week range. DS1 was a girl at 15w6d (looked pretty convincing on potty shot too) and DD was a boy at 15w3d with a very convincing penis-y cone appearance on potty shot. At least with her I already knew I was having a girl because the tech a week prior was able to show me her ovaries. But I still went home and cried feeling devastated and confused for the next month only to have it confirmed at the anatomy scan she was indeed still a girl.

Yep I did exercise 6d a week for an hour for 10 weeks, but I guess the other things that I was most nervous about during my sway did out weigh it a bit, like having cheat days on every weekend (thanks to DH's fried eggs for breakie and steak and chips for dinner!), gaining weight during the 2ww and most importantly, not being on diet for long. And as you can guess, those are the things that I'll be working on for my next sway, plus once I reach the 6 months mark after delivery, I'll slowly change my lifestyle towards a 'girl friendly one' and then slowly work my way up as I'm gonna aim for a 2 year gap next time.
Mrs.I, yep a 'turtle' was what I saw on Friday, I wouldn't have had a clue of what I was looking at if it wasn't for this wonderful site, I have learnt a lot more than I bargained for.
Rosie, thanks for your lovely words. Good luck on Tues.
BunnyG, sorry you had go through that and I totally understand you as I was told DS1 was a girl at the 20 week scan (I had an interior placenta with him), only to learn that he was a boy just 2 weeks before delivery (he was a big baby and I had to have another scan to know exactly how much he was weighing). I didn't cry or anything but I was sad for a few days, but life goes on. I still have the 'pink/girly clothing' I bought for him.
Thank goodness I didn't tell a soul except DH for my baby shower as I wanted to get as many gender neutral things/stuff as possible as I knew I would be having more kids.
We'll see what happens on the 22nd of Aug, I even thought of going to a gender scan, but for what, it's not gonna change what this baby is already as I'm utterly in love with it boy or girl!

I'm staying team surprise this time because I don't want the stress of it all even though I'd like to know. If this is another girl it's most likely our last baby even though I've always wanted six kids. DH wanted two but compromised at four. I really want DD to have a sister though, so I'll be pushing to try again for another girl if this one is a fail. I haven't had any real gut feeling as to what this baby is yet, but have a slight lean toward feeling girl. On impulse I bought a few newborn girly sleepers and an outfit. If nothing else DD's dolls will end up wearing them. LOL! I noticed with DS2 and DD that instinctively I've been drawn to the clothes for the gender I ended up having. With DS1 I started out concentrating on buying baby gear that was all colorful and gender neutral to use on future kids as well and had never gotten around to looking at clothes until I knew what I was having.

Your positive outlook is amazing flowerlily! I hope I take it as good as you tomorrow if my #3 is another boy although I don't think I will as this is our last bub.
I will be 15+2 tomorrow and OBGYN said she will be able to tell me but after reading a few of you saying you got false genders at this stage I will take it with a grain of salt tomorrow and not get too excited/disappointed 100% till my 20 week scan.
Welcome sunflower and congrats on your BFP! Hope it's a sticky bean x

Welcome sunflower3 and congrats on your BFP!!!
Yes, I had a miscarriage in April so also praying this baby sticks!!! I must say I am a nervous wreck today though! 😕 I only got a BFP 4 days ago and haven't even missed an AF yet, but had cramping today and freaked out!! I know it's probably normal but I'm so terrified of another miscarriage. As much as I want to enjoy this pregnancy (as it's my last and I do love pregnancy) I also just want these 9mths to hurry up so I can have my happy healthy baby (girl) in my arms!! 😉👍
Although, in saying that, once they're here, I then stress about them probably even more!! 😜

Sorry you have had a tough day MumofSix. I was the same after I miscarried in Feb, I was never a nervous nelly through my boys pregnancies but this time since my loss I have been a mess also. I hope your cramping passes and you get a good nights sleep and feel better tomorrow. Xx

Yep very nerve wracking. I did the same thing and even now, my last appointment was at 10 weeks so it's been 5 weeks and I have changed focus for tomorrow from being nervous about gender to being nervous that bub has a heart beat and all is ok (I had a severe chest infection for 11 days so been really sick!) That loss and pain never goes away that's for sure always in the back of your mind and know ur not alone! Xx when is your first appointment? I guess u haven't had bloods yet?

I'm TTC girl . I'm also inclined to not finding out till the baby comes. I had massive GD with DS2 when we were told boy and still feels guilty about it to this day (nearly 9 years!). With DS3 we didn't find out and I couldn't help but fall in love with him the minute I saw him so it was a lot smoother :-).
Rosie: yes it totally feels different- I actually feel pg this time- and yes I will be able to have a scan maybe next week just to make sure. I swear I'm already showing - I know it's silly because its only the size of a sesame seed lol
Congratulations sunflower! So sorry about your losses. FX its your sticky bean x

So glad to hear Lavie. I am sure baby is in the right spot! I am already showing too. I know it's not uterus or baby yet but my belly is not flat anymore at all. I look 12 weeks pregnant in the morning and 16 weeks by night fall. Not sure how I will hide the pregnancy much longer. I wasn't planning on saying anything until after the 12 week testing.

Wow, congrats to all the newcomers :-) I've been MIA for a almost a week, just busy with work stuff and trying to get as much accomplished before I hit the 6 week mark when I expected the nausea to hit hard. And...we are now at week 6, and guess what, lol? The nausea has hit :-) So far it doesn't seem quite as bad as last time. Whether it's still gearing up or maybe it just won't be as bad, time will tell! For now, I'm just trying to breathe through most of it, eating small meals of mostly toast seems to help, and then I also just picked up some essential oils that are supposed to help. We shall see!
I feel like I read so many updates that now I can't seem to focus on any one thing to comment on, lol. I will do better from here on out to stay up to speed :-) I will say the fact that multiple of you had opposite genders from what they said at the early scans does scare me a bit. I was hoping that since we're trying for blue, we might get a shot at the 12 week scan, but it sounds like even the 20 week scan is not always correct! Definitely going to have to research what this "turtle" thing is though :-) Always learning!!

Wow! You ladies are def showing! I'm lucky if I look like that by 20 weeks! (I hate that I just look chubby and no real bump, I guess it's my height, I am average weight). Although I do hear that each baby gets bigger quicker, so maybe this one will be that one!
I'm a tad irritated that I haven't gotten any beta levels back. I am pretty sure things are progressing well. But apparently the doc "doesn't have any results" yet. Even though I had a draw on Thursday of last week. Grrr. I'm pretty sure I can guess about what they are. But I want reassurance that things are going well.
I've been more nauseous in the evening and MAN am I irritable. My kids are driving me nuts. Lol. I hope it abates a little soon. I am a little surprised that my boobs aren't sore. They were with all three of the others. But I'm not thinking too much about it. My tests are fine. Ill have to wait patiently on the betas.

Love the bump pics! I too didn't show for quite a while with my first, but I'm pretty sure that's mostly due to my long torso :-) I'm trying to find a cute shirt on etsy that tells others there's a baby in there and I'm not just fat, lol. I feel like people are way nicer to you when they know you're expecting! That was the fun part last time, but my daughter came just a few weeks past when I finally "popped" so I feel like I got gypped, lol. Hoping I get more time being obviously pregnant this time!

Ugh how annoying hotdogz!! I am sure the numbers are fine too but still!!
With my first I didn't show until after 20 weeks and my second not until about 14 weeks but with my 3rd I was showing at about 10 weeks but not super big. This is nuts but I attribute the size to bloating.
Abi you are indeed carrying differently. My fingers are crossed for you for a pinkie! Do you think you are carrying twins??

I don't have much reason to think it's twins except that I've had the crazy thought that I might have felt the baby which is obviously too early. My MIL is a twin and she has twin siblings but I don't think it passes through the dad's side. I have morning sickness but not bad enough to be twins.
Rosie85
July 7th, 2014, 05:17 PM
You never know abi! Twins run on my moms side in my family. It wouldn't be out of the question for me especially after a miscarriage. I do know some women who had twins and little morning sickness so that doesn't mean much I guess.
I have little to no morning sickness still and while it's nice I'm still a little worried. My breasts are still super sore and I'm super super tired all the time...Hoping that's enough symptoms to mean the pregnancy is still going strong.
Abifasc
July 7th, 2014, 05:30 PM
Yes I would feel good about that! My boobs are just now calming down and I'm still very tired. Those are strong symptoms. I was nauseous since I got my BFP but didn't throw up until 7w4d.
I'll find out Wednesday at the ultrasound if it's twins! I would be surprised but my mom would jump out of her skin with excitement haha.

July 7th, 2014, 05:33 PM
I hope someone gets twins! It's always fun to follow those pregnancies. Everyone in my family but my Dh would be excited if it were me. Haha. Dh has expressed a strong disinterest in twins. He was nervous to get pregnant right after a loss since it can increase chances.

What awesome bump pics!! Maybe twins Abi??!? 😉
With my twins I had constant morning sickness/vomiting! And none with the others, but I've also known others who have had no morning sickness and had twins, so you never know. 😉
hotdogz, I am extremely irritable and cranky too!! The kids and DH are driving me crazy!!! I can't remember being like this any other pregnancy, but it's also school hols so that's probably contributing. 😜
That and my DH needs a slap! The last 2 nights we've sat down to watch a movie with the kids and whilst they're on the lounge including DH with his legs out, practically laying down, I've had to sit on the floor!! Ummm....I'm pregnant and was in hospital with a blood clot last week, but that's ok, you lay down stretched out on the lounge and I'll sit on the tiles!! 😠

I can't wait to meet him, and I love him to pieces all ready. Longing I'm sorry you didn't hear pink!
I've always wanted a daughter. And with DS1 I was team green. but felt he was a boy (everyone around me was getting a girl)
When He was born I had no GD (in pg I had even though I didn't know for sure)
with DS2 we decided that we were going to find out. But I had Lots of GD with him. that hurted and I felt guilty.
Ds3 we were planning Team green. but at 16wks the midwife couldn't tell gender she didn't see anything between the legs. (she didn't say girl or boy we just couldn't see) so we thought this is our girl. and did find out that it was DS3.
It didn't hurt as much as with DS2. we were planning to stick with 3 but my DH opend the door with nr2 for 4. (that was the Limit!)
DS3 is sooo special. (they all are in there own way but at soon he was born... I was in Love.. And I have to admit... that he has a way of getting away with stuff.. cause he's adorable.
I'm sorry your dream for a DD is gone. But you've got one special fam. You don't just have 3 sons. You have YOUR sons. they are special!
What I loved was the pictures you see on internet of all boy fam with pictures of them when they were small and then all grown up in the same setting! I though I WILL have THAT! how amazing!
pls if you want to write something don't hold back. many of us know how you feel!
Congrats on your beautiful baby boy though!

I am so sorry longing! That must be difficult to give up on your hope for a daughter, but as everyone here has said, 3 boys is something special. They will have such a fabulous relationship and truly be there for each other. And hopefully one day they will marry super sweet women and you'll get 3 beautiful daughter-in-laws who will make your boys so happy in life, which will in turn make you so happy :-) And although it won't be your daughter by blood who gets pregnant with your grand babies, it will be the women that light your sons' eyes, and I'm sure you will love seeing that just as well!
But also as everyone here has said, talk about it, cry about it - everyone here understands and is here for you. It's tough when those around you don't understand, but you have a whole community of women here who do.

Longingforadaughter sorry to hear you didn't hear pink either When I found out my ds3 was a boy I cried like a baby but the next day I went out and bought some beautiful little blue clothes and then I started to get excited about him My older two had demanded another brother and I just knew the joy that this little fella would bring I never imagined I would love a baby as much as I did when he was born and today he is the apple of my eye I adore the ground he walks on! Now my boys are demanding another brother and something tells me they might get their wish!! Take time to cry a bit and over time you will feel better. Try a bit of blue shopping It will help Guaranteed!

Welcome Lavie! The more the merrier! I am due in March as well, not sure if I will move over now though, the ladies here are quite fab :)
I finally got my betas back and the look pretty good. Thankfully not as high as I thought they might be, given the tests, so that is good. Musta had some crazy-dye-heavy tests or something. Lol. They are 10DPO: 35; 12DPO: 107; 14DPO: 368. Still nice strong numbers. Right in between my other two healthy pregnancies where I had betas run (#2 was 293 at 14DPO and #3 was 400ish at 14DPO). So hopefully it's a sticky one! My first ultrasound is on July 24th. Hoping to hear a strong heartbeat :)

OMG, Longing, I'm so sorry that you didn't hear girl. I know how deep GD cuts, and I thought for sure that DS2 was my last chance at a girl. I know how the "the dream is over" feeling is so all-encompassing. I ended up putting my marriage on the line for another chance (not a method I'd necessarily recommend!) I agree, you should feel free to vent, cry, and grieve here. You're surrounded by support and women who've been through the same (not socially acceptable) feelings.
I'm 17 1/2 weeks and heartburn has set in. Sigh. I was hoping to at least get to the halfway point before downing a handful of Tums at bedtime. Oh well, it's not horrible yet. By the end, I'll be sleeping sitting up to avoid waking up choking on stomach acid. That's what happened third trimester with DS1 and DS2.

I'm feeling a lot better today, the pain still washes over me at moments but I look at my 2 beautiful boys and how much I adore them and how they love the life we live on this big farm, a 3rd is just going to fit right in perfectly!
My DS1 Broke my heart when we came home yesterday he didn't even say hi he just ran up to me and asked is the baby a boy or girl? And I said "what do you think it is?" And he said "a boy?" And I said "yep your right another little brother" and he replied "awww mummy I was really hoping for a baby sister?" And that was the end of it, he hasn't brought it up again!
I have 5 friends due to have babies between now and December when I have my baby boy and I know already I am going to loose my shit when any of them has a daughter - I need to prepare myself for that and try my hardest to not feel that way, but it is hard since being a teenager and having 2 sisters much younger than me, i always pictured myself with a daughter and that reality is gone now.
But I will count my blessing each day and be happy with what I have been given :)

Belledandy, I hope you are right! My skin was almost perfect with my boys! It was a nice change from my monthly hormonal breakouts when I wasn't pregnant.
Rosie, I think different symptoms from your own individual pregnancies is a much more reliable sign than girls = acne or boys = acne. At least I hope so! Hopefully these are good signs for us both!

futureminime, those two symptoms (acne and overly emotional) were kind of what kept me a little bit optimistic because with my boys, my skin also was clear and glowing and i didn't cry at the smallest things like i do now. i definitely agree with you that it's not actually the symptom itself that might be a sign of a different gender, but how the baby's hormones interacts with each mother differently. just my unscientific take though, lol.
rosie, hopefully opposite symptoms means opposite gender fo you too.
lilith, i had heartburn with DS2 too but didn't know what to do with it, lol. funny though, he was born with a whole head of hair like OWT's say. good luck with finding a remedy though. hopefully water and lemon will work.

I also have a very diff pg. Skin is smooth. Diff food cravings. And the nausea is diff too.
Just had a sandwich that was homesick.... My first time throwing up this pregnancy. And not because I was nausea but because I smelled meat. (In my opinion it was bad... DH says thats impossible.)
Don't dare to open the fridge again.
And were I loved peanutbutter and chocolatepaste on Bread or crackers with the boys I don't like it at all this time. So if I want to eat something I need to open the fridge....

Aw sweetdream I know that feeling too well Vomiting when you smell something Men will never understand a pregnant woman!
Rosie are your cramps gone? I sometimes have very bad pulling if I get up fast from sitting or lying but I think it's a good sign (I hope!)

Daisy they are mostly gone, they are just slight ones now. I think I just over did it that one day. No bleeding ever so hopefully all is fine.
I'm feeling a bit light headed today, not going to get much done now! At my appointment yeaterday the nurse said they will likely give me a dating scan next week when I meet my midwife. I also opted for the 13 week scan/testing and I have never done it before, so I am nervous! This pregnancy feels so different I can t help but worry something is wrong.

Hey ladies
Still hovering around until my scan which is 5th Aug. Seems like a lifetime away. I get more convinced this is a boy with everyday that passes.
So sorry you heard blue. It sounds like you are getting your head around it though and I am sure 3 boys will be amazing as 2 would be for me.
Congratulations to all the bfps too xxxxx

Good luck with your scan, daisymoo!
I had to laugh out loud at the comment about drinking lemon juice for heartburn... only because I already do that, and had to switch to using straws because all that lemony-acid in my water was making my teeth look like the mouth of a six-pack a day soda drinker! I have to admit, I just shook my head when I saw that lemon water is recommended for swaying blue. I LOVE that stuff!
For me I think it's just flat-out a short torso issue. I literally have about an inch between the bottom of my ribcage and the top of my hip. There's just no room, so my organs get crowded and I have to eat micro-meals all third trimester.
I have only heard of one other person who had pregnancy heartburn as bad as I did, and I've compared a LOT of stories. I will say this: the "full head of hair= heartburn" was a total myth for me twice. Both boys were born with a tiny bit of fuzz, most of which fell out in the first two weeks and left a mohawk.
In addition to the lemon water, I'm trying kombucha, homemade pickles and probiotics (all of which are high in acid) and other live-bacteria cultures like yogurt to try to keep the disruption to a minimum. but I know that, at the end of the day, it may be just too much pressure on my stomach and my poor little tummy just releases the excess back up into my throat :(

Make sure you drink enough water with zofran! I found out the hard way this time and I read up that if you're dehydrated and you take it, that combo can make you feel more nauseous!! Great!!! I used it my last pregnancy but could not tolerate it this time so ended up giving it to my moms friend who got cancer as that is some pricey stuff!!!!

Wow, we have a lot of scans this week in this group! So much fun :-) Abi, what an awesome first pic! Sweetdreams, so glad the scan put you at ease.
Our first appt is July 22nd, but last time they didn't do anything at that appt except give me another pregnancy test, so I'm not expecting a scan this time either. I'll likely have to wait another month. In the meantime, we have one of those at home doppler things to listen to the heartbeat. A friend gave it to us with our last pregnancy, but we didn't try it out until we first heard the heartbeat at the doctor's office at 12 weeks, so I don't know how sensitive it is. I tried using it the other night at 6 weeks, but couldn't find anything, so I'm thinking it's still too early. I'll probably try each week though because it would be so cool to hear the heartbeat sooner than 12 weeks for sure!
It's just so hard not to be worried these days! They say that once you hear a heartbeat, your chance of miscarriage drops to 5%. Hoping I can convince them to do a scan at the 8 week appt, but probably not. And I'm actually thinking of making an earlier appt to get some zofran since this MS is getting pretty severe :-( Of course it sounds like I don't have it nearly as bad as some of you other ladies! Hope everyone starts feeling better soon!!
Rosie85
July 10th, 2014, 10:00 AM
Crazycat I think you generally can't hear the heartbeat until after 10 weeks with the doppler. I know how frustrating it is to sit and wonder if the baby is okay...it really sucks. I'm hoping they scan me next Tuesday so I can be put at ease.

So...here is a perfect example of just how emotional I am today. As I was driving into work I was thinking about how nice and supportive everyone is on this board (the due date board on babycenter is full of people who are so mean and judgmental that if you post something naive or something they jump all over you), AND I STARTED GETTING TEARY. I have not even been actively posting on the board, let alone this sight, for very long! You guys are great, lol.
I feel so much better today so far. I have my seabands and some super strong ginger candy from indonesia! Hopefully it keeps me feeling better!

So excited for all the scans! I'm almost 18 weeks and I need to schedule "the big one." Although, already knowing she's a she helps, but I get nervous every time something bad might be revealed.
I splurged for my birthday and bought a Blendtec, since I've always wanted a high power blender for smoothies, nut butters, hummus and soups. My new morning addiction is a smoothie I got off the internet (a vegan guy invented it for his hangover, but I tweaked it a little.) So yummy! And it's a complete meal replacement, fiber, Omega 3's, and protein. Here it is, if anyone else is interested:
1 heaping tablespoon nut butter (I use peanut butter)
1/2 c milk or milk substitute (I use organic whole milk)
1 tablespoon chia seeds
4 dates or 2 Medjool dates, seeds removed
2 sliced, frozen bananas
1/4 c water (optional, to thin it out if you don't want a thick smoothie)
Blend until smooth, then let sit for 5 minutes so the chia seeds can thicken the smoothie. This fills me up until lunch!

Such a cute scan Daisy! Baby looks like he or she might end up a thumb sucker :-) Our daughter always had her hands near her mouth in ultrasound pics and she's definitely a thumb sucker!
Maybe a dumb question, but what it is about her nub shot that makes it look girly? Is there a thread on here somewhere that talks to the nub shots and what to look for? Is that the "hamburger"? I thought that could only be seen from a different angle, but maybe I'm just confused, lol. Need to learn what to look for!

Crazycat - I was feeling really rough this week but I LOVE LOVE LOVE the seabands! They are really working for me so far (and I have worn them for all three pregnancies now). With the first two, I was only just a bit nauseous but with this one it is worse! Have you tried them? I also have ginger soda (I though it was ale when I bought it), and now some really strong ginger candy. So far I have had moments of queasiness but have not gotten sick. I have not taken any Zofran today either!

Daisy - Great Scan!! I was thinking the nub looked girly too but I am far from an expert!
LilithWiser1979
July 10th, 2014, 02:17 PM
Crazycat, we're looking at the genital tuber (referred to as "the nub") and comparing its angle to the spine. Greater than a 15 degree angle generally indicates a boy, parallel indicates girl, and inbetween is a toss-up. There are other factors, too. Judging the nub before 12 weeks is completely inaccurate, and 13 weeks is best. If the baby is particularly arched, curled, or upside down, the nub guess is invalid. Ultrasound techs and studies give nub guesses after 13 weeks over 90% for gender accuracy. Still, there's that 10%, but it's generally a good indication of where things are headed :)
Potty shots looking for a "turtle" or a "hamburger" come later. I know a lot of women get gender ultrasounds between 15 and 17 weeks, but I personally wouldn't trust one until 18 weeks. A potty shot after 18 weeks (until after 22 weeks) is nearly 100% accurate. Later ultrasounds can be less accurate because girl parts can swell, and boy parts can get squished and "hidden."
I was obsessed with gender ultrasounds for a while. I wanted to see if there was ANY way DS2's 18 week classic turtle could be wrong. There wasn't, LOL!
