View Full Version : Do "evap" lines mess with your head????

So, like any rational TTC'er, the first thing I did when I got home tonight was pee and grab my test from this morning. I was super bummed this morning and accepted the fact I was not pregnant (which completely eliminated all my so-called symptoms). Well, now there is a very faint line....I can't tell if there is a hint of pink in it or not. So -- though I know rationally it means absolutely SQUAT, I may have to go out and buy more tests, dang it. (embarrassed smiley here) I still have days of old test that I scrutinize every time I hit the bathroom -- all are still stark white.
Ugh. The tricks your mind plays on you when you are TTC.

after taking a test that was clearly negative in the test time frame, I went back after several hours and checked it again and it now had a faint line. That was ds2!!!
This weekend the same thing happened.... but Af showed up Monday morning. We weren't ttc, so I'm not too dissapointed.
So it could go either way. But I for sure won't be use those internet cheapies when we finally decide to ttc!
Good luck to you!

9dpo. Less than 12 hours ago I decided I wasnt buying anymore tests. Saw that pseudo line and as soon as Dh got home, I went to the dollar store to grab more. Of course, they had none. Guess what nut job ran across the street to shoppers drug mart to buy some first response (a luxury I don't afford myself until I get a positive and want to confirm). Sigh. Ttc'ing makes me crazy :P

It is very unlikely to be positive at 9DPO with dollar store tests. Usually they take at least until 12 DPO. FRER can detect a 10 DPO. What I would do if I were you is do the FRER on second morning urine. Empty your bladder in the morning then don't drink anything until you go pee again about an hour later. This will be very concentrated urine and FRER should pick it up a BFP at 10DPO. Good luck!!

I agree with Wanting, wait until 2nd morning urine and test tomorrow! Good luck!

Thanks :) For my last few pregnancies, the dollar store ones did give me positives at 9dpo, which is why I figured I was out this month. I'll have to do FMU because I can't see myself testing at work (oh my!). But I got two tests.....sooooo.....I might give in and test tonight before bed (because I'm a poas addict) though I know I should save it for 11 dpo.
I'm trying to convince myself it's going to be negative so I'm not crushed when I don't see that second line....
Thanks again :)

TEsting at 9 DPO tells you nothing and I really really do not recommend testing before 12 DPO.

But it is so hard not to!! It's like waiting for Christmas gifts when you are a child. Those pregnancy tests are like presents partially unwrapped and waiting under the tree for you to take a peek. Just so hard to resist!

I know right Rosie!! I am the say way... awful. The earliest I have gotten a BFP is 10 dpo with FRER on second morning urine and it was so faint I thought I was going crazy. It would hurt my eyes to stare at it long enough to see it. Had to hold it up to a window in the sunlight. Pregnancy tests are like crack for me... once I start I am not going to stop!! It is bad. Especially with the IC, Walmart 88 cent, dollar store, I am OCD!!

That's how I found out I was preggers with this baby. I took a test and within the time limit- totally white. Then I looked at it again about an hour later and there was a line! I tested again and the same thing happened an hour later! I waited a day or two and it was def positive!
