View Full Version : Just For Fun Gender Guess...

I just had my MaterniT21 drawn so I thought it would be fun to guess what people might think this baby will be. I will update when I get the results. I am not going to be disappointed or upset either way... I got a DD last time so this is just for fun so feel free to be honest!!
My age: 39
DH age: 39 (38 at time of conception)
This was a total oops baby. I was 6 months PP and still BF DD. DH and I got a little frisky one night and I guess he thought it would be safe to not pull out since I hadn't had a period in 6 months. I got up right away and J&D. A few days later I noticed EWCM so I started LH testing and sure enough nice positive about 4 days after we DTD. So only one "attempt".
Diet: Was eating kind of crappy (not lots of fruits and vegetables) but more breads, cheese, grains, and meat. Skipping breakfast except for coffee (sleep deprived) which I put organic half and half and real maple syrup in. Wasn't gaining or loosing weight. I find it very hard to loose weight while I am BF... for some reason when I stop BF the baby weight comes right off. I had lost about a total of 40 lbs since DD was born but hadn't lost any weight in about 2 months. Wasn't taking prenatal pills (bad BF Mom).
BMI: Hadn't lost all the weight from DD so 27.8 (yikes this is high for me)
Exercise: None
Conceived in mid February (probably Feb 19 but DTD the night of Feb 15)
DH works in another state so he had just traveled home that night (3.5 hour drive). We had been apart for about 6 days. He wouldn't leave me alone that night so I am thinking he may not have released while we were apart but don't know that for sure.
DH diet and habits haven't changed much since DS2 and DD was born. He has started running 3-4 miles 3-4 days a week and eating slightly better but nothing significant.
So any guesses?? Feel free to ask questions!!

Sounds like mostly girl sway factors to me but I wouldn't be surprised either way as my ds was born 6m after my first son was born and was a one hit wonder too with a similar diet and exercise plan! Xx

I know Mulberry... I can't shake the feeling that this baby is a boy. I don't have great maternal instinct though when it comes to the gender of my babies. I thought for sure DS2 was a girl and that DD was a boy so who knows. Thanks for the response!!

Lol well you were close ;) I think I feel from you that you feel it's a boy if that makes sense so I can't really get a good reading from this baby. I think you are so strongly adamant it's a boy since you've already been blessed with one girl you can't imagine 'hitting lucky' and finding her a sister if that makes any sense?? I know though that you'll be so happy whatever the gender. I can't wait to hear your update xx

No idea wanting but I hope you get a DD as that would be special for your daughter to have a wee sis close in age and I think that's what you would prefer slightly :)
Can't wait for the update been following your story xx

I probably do lean girl a little. It would be nice for DD to have sister. Plus I am really tired of cleaning pee off of toilets and if any of you boy moms out there have a solution for the boy pee problem please let me know!!
This time I don't feel like it will be the end of the world with sobbing if I don't hear girl.

I think there's lots of girl friendly things that you were doing. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. x

I think you have a great shot at a girl. As for pee problems, I know a mum who taught her boys to pee sitting down. But if they are used to standing up already that might be hard.

I can see quite a few girl sway tactics there, so you definitely have a good chance at a girl. :) Are you going to find out soon?
Lol maidentomother, maybe that mum is me!
Well, I learnt this from my step mum (she had 5 boys), so from the beginning I trained Ds1 to sit on the toilet using stepping stool just like he sits on the potty outside the toilet (when the toilet is busy).
But, we had a few problems when he started preschool last year where at the school he would pee standing and at home sitting, so there were a few times where I had to remind him...plus cleaning urine off the toilet...but in the end he got it, unless he's in a hurry to not miss something (usually favourite cartoons) or afraid his bro destroying the house of blocks he has just built.
I'm planning to do the same with DS2 once he turns 2 as he's been showing a few signs that he's ready since he was18m.
Good luck.

Yes, I taught the boys to pee sitting down... of coarse DH then had them stand!! So DH is going to get to clean the toilets until it is back under control. Funny cause then I told DH I am not cleaning anymore pee toilets you are going to have to do it... he went to clean them and then gave the boys a big lecture and told them if it doesn't get better they will be peeing sitting down!!

Just out of curiosity WantingPink, how long does the MaterniT21 take?

Well they said 7-10 business days but it seems like most people are getting them in 7-10 days (sometimes sooner). I asked them and business days for them are M-F.

Hope yours comes soon and you here pink!
I thought it was like regular scans and I was like 'if you had it, wouldn't you just know what the gender was already?'
Sorry for my ignorance, I'm new to all this.

No MaterniT21 is done if you are 35+ or high risk. It is relatively new so no worries:) Not sure if you can request it or not if you are under 35 and low risk. It is just a blood draw and it takes a little bit to hear.

Oh thanks, I'm none of the above, so no chance me getting it.
But good luck:)

I get the blood test done but they don't tell us the gender here in canada:( not sure if want to know that early anyway?!?

Coocoo you have crazy will power. I always want to know the gender right away. I just like to think about what they will look like and how to decorate a nursery. I guess that is how I pass the 9 months:) Why don't they tell you gender in Canada?? They have the results??

I think there was some worry about early termination due to sex within some cultures here... They go back and forth whether they will even tell us at the 18-20 week scan. Currently they will ask if you want to know, put it in the drs note and then you have to find out from your doctor...I assume the reasoning is the dr can decide if you are stable enough to know?!?
I'm not sure I have the will power. I am thinking I will get the tech to look and write it down so its available to me and I might sneak a peek...I think because I'm optimistic it's what I want to see... But if I'm wrong, I'll wish I hadn't so it's probably still not a good idea!!
I'm just sad that I won't get to do the nursery other then neutral and if it is a girl...it could be kinda fun! Would give me something to do as I'm obsessing over what it is!!!
I told my mom I was thinking about finding out and she really wants me to experience the surprise. But I told her I'm obsessing and that it's not the same when you have all of the same gender, it's overwhelmingly consuming for me esp now I sneaked a peek... I'd like to think of something else for the next 5 months rather than if it's a boy or girl. I'm such a freak lol!

You are not a freak at all. It has got to be so hard to not know but want to know if it is what you want to hear. I love decorating and painting and making everything just perfect for when the baby comes home. Then they don't even go in their room forever:) DD is still sleeping with me downstairs cause she is a screamer. If she wakes up at night she screams until she gets a binky. I really don't want her to wake up the other kids.
I always wanted to find out especially if it was a boy. I wanted to get all the GD out of the way. For me decorating a room, buying cute baby clothes really helps me do that. Then by the time the baby is here all the disappointment is out of the way and there is just a baby. I think everyone is different though. Some people say that if they wait till the baby is born then there isn't any GD. I just know you have some strong patience!! I will be finding out in a week or so:)
