View Full Version : Advice on bd and timing - may have attempted too early?

Hi!

Need some advice on timing for bd, chances of pg and opk:s.

Saturday I got a little EWCM and cramping and I thought o was close. The cervix felt a little bit softer (sorry TMI!) but still no opk+ even though line was pretty strong. Then sunday line got fainter, I was superdry, no ewcm at all (but that could be the effect of a vaginal stuff I took with pH 4,5), cervix felt a lot more closed and hard and I freaked out, afraid I already had O:ed. Googled the sticks I used and they didn't seems to be reliable for everyone.

So we decided o bd, just in case. But of course, 24 hours later (yesterday) i got opk+. Now I am afraid our attempt was too early, since I had opk+ also this morning.

Wrote down my timing for this attempt:

Sunday 11 pm - BD (opk neg)

Monday 8 am - opk strong but neg
Monday 6 pm - opk+

Tuesday 8 am opk+

Instructions on my opk says that O occurs within 24-48 hours after +. Should I only count from first +opk? That would be O on wed night at the latest. One attempt with three day cut off - not great chances of getting pg right?

Should we bd on thursday morning as well (3,5 days after 1st bd) just in case i O late? Don't wanna put in more than one attempts but still wanna make sure there are some swimmers at all...

I would do Thursday am in case you O late. You absolutely CAN conceive 3 days before O so your timing is actually okay. Not ideal but not bad, either. O fakeouts are SO frustrating!

Thanks maiden! I'll take another test tonight or tomorrow to see if lh goes down, that would indicate that egg is released I guess?

Right now I have pretty intense cramping on right side (much more than the light indistinct cramping I've had for a few days) - could that possibly come from the egg releasing?

If so (which would make me very happy) time from BD to O would be 40 hours. But I have no idea if this cramping comes before, during or after O, and I guess no one knows so I'll just have to wait and see.

Took a new test right now - it was fainter (negative). Does it mean I should O now or very soon?

In that case I'll just stick with this first attempt, no chance O could be on thursday right?

Hi Marika I'm the worst at working out opks but I will say that spermies can survive for up to five days! You don't want too many attempts Just dtd four days from your last attempt and keep your fingers crossed missus!!!! Hope you catch that pink egg!

I bet you Oed within hours of the intense crampinh. That's my guess. If so your timing was great. OPKs going negative is also a good sign that O has either happened or will very soon.

I hope so, cramping stopped later in the evening and today test was clearly negative. So I think O happened yesterday evening or even afternoon. Now it's time for this looooong 2 ww!
