It's been a long time since I've had a baby. I can't believe how far things have come even since 2011 when I was pregnant in terms of blood testing etc.

Do people still use crib bumpers? I've heard no. Do car seats really expire? I would check to make sure there are no recalls but what's the real deal!
Anything else I'm not thinking of?

A lot of people say no crib bumpers, but I have heard stories where the baby legs get stuck. I actually order a flat bumper, and I plan to pull it out at 10 months. Flat bumpers is def direction people are going. Also, I just know about graco some of them car seats expired mine the snug ride happens to be good!! I know nap nanny expired which I loved but may use it anyway!! The ring bath for the bathtub is recalled it was my fav bath for my son since it was a seat too!! I am not actually up in everything but there are so many things that have been recalled!! How u feeling?

Car seats do expire.

I always used a bumper!

You really don't need all that gear we had for the other kids!!!

The cheap strollers work just as well as the $1000 ones and an umbrella stroller is really the most practical one.

There are mesh bumpers now so they can breath through it if they get squished in there but then soother a and limbs stay in:)

I'm feeling good. So happy I'm pregnant. I'm the size of a house and I don't care. The nap nanny is expired or recalled?

Nuthinbutpink- do you think they expire the car seat to make more money or is it legit? Is it that safety standards change? But that quickly?

From 2007? I am sure it is safer. That's a long time. Think how much everything else has changed!!

Isn't it crazy how things change in such a short time?? I haven't ever used bumpers. DH is very strict about any type suffocation/SIDS items and bumpers are suppose to be high on the list so we have never used bumpers.

Car seats do expire, we had to buy another one with DD but I was fine with that cause I got a super girly one:)

Yes, now they can do a blood test at 9-10 weeks that tells you trisomy information as well as a few other genetic abnormalities and gender!! This is by far my most favorite advance/change!!

You saw my sprinkle pics! I fought the BFF on this one since I had a big shower for the first pregnancy but since that was over 7 years ago, this was a girl pregnancy and it took me so much to have this baby I agreed to it. I didn't put any big ticket items on the registry and to be honest I got mostly clothes.. but so glad I agreed it was beautiful so much PINK lol! I even cried in the middle of opening gifts and I am so not a cryer but.....you can imagine how emotional it all was!

You should have a "sprinkle". It really is fun to buy little girl clothes and all the pink... you will love it. I didn't have one but so many of my friends bought me clothes and it was fun and they are so cute!! I am not much of a girly girl but after thinking you will never have a girl I went a little crazy with the pink and purple stuff and bows and shoes everything. So did my SIL (she has two boys). I thought DH was going to loose it:)

This is SO true! I thought I hated pink and headbands/bows before I had the baby!! I can't enough headbands( I try and beat DH to the mailbox before he sees I've ordered yet another headband haha)!!

I had to stop myself from buying half the rack at the baby store today, you are going to go crazy lol!

I understand, but seriously this what we WANTED for SOOOO Long why not indulge my dear, I AM HAVING A BABY GIRL!!!!!!!!! Scream it from the rooftops!! LOL!! Yes you will!! I think I have seen where you can now get shower announcements where you scratch to reveal the gender. It is kind of cute and fun way to announce.

re car seats, my understanding is that plastic actually starts to go bad over time and that having had it in the car (in sunlight) may exacerbate this and so if it's been more than 3 years, it's best to get a new one.

Plus you need a pink one!!! AAAAAA I am so so so excited for you!

People WANT this to happen for you and they WANT to buy stuff for you. I didn't want and didn't have a shower because I'm not a shower type of gal, but people were so generous and while it is and was really weird to me to accept it, I'm so glad I did!! People enjoy doing it and it really does make you feel loved.

Thanks for the car seat info! My cousin was going to give me one that doesn't expire until dec2016. The graco snug ride. I looked it up and the bigger seats were recalled. It looked like the infant seats were recommended to be recalled but were not. I have to look closer at the dates etc. When I saw it was only $100 I figured I should just but my own. It's been used by 2 babies. :/

Wow, really? There's no such thing as an expiry date in car seats in the UK. I had no idea & have been using one that's 10 years old - it came from a friend, so I know it's history. I just assumed that if it wasn't in an accident it would be okay!

And I TOTALLY agree with the others - go mad! Buy loads of pink & get really excited! You've waited sooo long for this & been through so much! Take my share of buying pink that I would've done had ds3 been a girl! I'm absolutely delighted for you :D

I ever heard of expiration date non grace but I know a lot got recalled. So map nanny is recalled but there is dream dex which is the same thing. I'm using my old nap nanny! Definitely have a shower and enjoy all the presents!!!

I know its hard but enjoy these last few weeks..... I still dream about my days in the hospital with her, what an amazing feeling, take it all in, after the newborn crazy phase, it goes by way too quick :( very sad!!
