Yes or no? Experiences from people who have used them?
I found a lady I really like and I am thinking about hiring her but I am not 100% positive about it. Any help/suggestion is appreciated :)
P.S I am in Africa now and will be going back to the States in the middle of next month to have the baby so I will have at least 1-2 times to meet with her so I won't be asking for a discount.

Yes!!! I had a doula for my last birth and it was the best one of all 4! The nurses here in the US have so much paper work/technical items to take care of that they can't focus on being a labor coach. My nurse this post time was so envious of my doula bc she said that's why she originally went into the L&D field but now she feels she isn't doing it at all! I succeeded having no epidural for the first time ever and it was amazing how much she was able to help me focus on breathing properly. My husband was even very thankful for her bc he said he never knows what to do for me bc he's afraid of upsetting me, lol!

PS- I paid $600 for my doula. Met with her a few times before birth, she came to the hospital once during a false labor scare & was there with me that time 6 hrs, then for the real time of labor and took pics & notes for me and met with me postpartum as well.

THAT is exactly what I want!!!!! My husband doesn't know how to be a coach, baby # 1 nurses took over, baby #2 he was away so this one he will be there but will come 1-2 days before baby!

Wow, the lady I found charges $300 which is the cheapest one I found thus far so I am excited!! Hubby will take the pictures and video and everything and then the doula will focus on me and helping me through! I am hoping to be induced but other than that I was as less medication as possible!!!
Thanks, I am going to hire her :D

Thank you, I am very excited too!!! I wanted to get one when I was having my son and I thought I could handle it but I went in at 6 am and at 4pm I found an opening and being alone in the room and the anesthesiologist walking in and bam, got the epidural lol
So, hopefully other than the induction medicine, the rest will be medical free!!! I can't wait to do this :D
