So I am NOT getting my tubes tied after this baby. Before we got a bfp, dh and I agreed this would be our last...well today we were joking around that maybe we should have a 5th (made me sooo happy b/c now I feel like I have another shot at a dd if this baby is a boy).
At my last doc visit 2 weeks ago, doc asked me about getting my tubes tied (I'm 36 btw), and I said I don't want to (the nurse dropped an IUD pamphlet on my lap before visit was over..guess they think I should stop having kids? lol). I had some b/w done for genetic testing (on me, not baby..to see if I am a carrier for a few diff things, I was never tested before for some reason). I had to sign some papers for the genetic testing. Anyway I've been having this irrational fear that they tricked me into signing paper for getting my tube tied or something. I have another u/s tomorrow and will prob see doc too. Can someone please tell me how the whole process goes as far as getting tubes tied? Wouldn't they have to ask repeatedly if that's what I want etc? Wouldn't papers be signed closer to due date (I am only 8.5 weeks, will be getting C-section).
I know it sounds crazy but I am so worried they will accidentally tie my tubes or something!!!

I don't know the answer to this, but I have had bad dreams where that happened.
I don't think they can have you sign something at 8.5 weeks gestation and have it do anything. DH will be there to keep an eye on everything.

Wouldn't they require signed consent from you to do that (or any other procedure)? I wouldn't worry - I'm not sure they could without permission.

Thanks for responding guys!!
Atomic and bunnywabbit- def can't do without permission, I'm just scared I accidentally signed something (lol) when I signed papers for the genetic tests...but I had made it clear to them I don't want to tie tubes so they gave me an IUD pamphlet...so I'm prob just overreacting as usual.
I would think they wouldn't have me sign something like that at 8 weeks PG, that would be a bit crazy right??!!

I think it is weird that they gave you an IUD pamphlet and you are 8.5 weeks PG?? Maybe this is what has you questioning everything. I am having #4 and my doctor didn't even mention birth control or getting my tubes tied. In fact he suggested we wait until after the baby is born because so many people change their minds and it is easier to get a vasectomy reversal than it is a tubal reversal.

Wantingpink- yes that could be it. I told the nurse we were done after this one, maybe that's why they asked me about that. But now we may not be done (depends on whether this is a girl or not) ;)
I have an u/s today, may bring it up.

The nurse that I met with told me that I would have to sign papers @32 weeks if a tubal was something that I wanted. They would not do it unless the forms are signed.
