UK Ladies - Cord blood donation

Has anyone done or looked into this? It's something I'm thinking about doing, but only a few hospitals in the UK deal directly with this. Any info or feedback would be great. TIA! :happy:

I've donated 3 times (I wasn't told about it with my 1st) all you do is have some blood taken after the birth, answer some questions and then 6 months later they will send you out a pack to take to your GP nurse for more blood. I was told if they ask for the blood at 6 months then they were able to use the cord blood.

It's a very honourable and generous donation and I respect that.

Just thought I would offer a different view on the cord, I hope you don't mind...
I requested 'delayed cord clamping' for my babies- basically it isn't necessary (unless there's a medical reason of course) to cut the cord straight away. In fact, the baby benefits hugely from the 'cord' blood and so the cord is untouched until there's no more pulse and all the blood has been absorbed by the baby. I thought it would be a lovely birth day 'gift' to my babies to give them every little drops of those wonderful nutrients and cells to start their life.
