View Full Version : Horray! I am NOT a "Martha"

Okay, so I am a researcher, and I like to have all the information before I render a decision. I'm an attorney and a bit of an over-achiever (I was valedictorian in law school if that helps paint the picture). I like to analyze data to understand the world around me. Okay, I know by now that you are all thinking that I am lying--I'm a total Martha! But after reading Atomic's essay (and all the sub-essays) http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-general-discussion/33517-maternal-dominance-hypothesis-priviledged-daughter-hypothesis.html , I realized that I am really NOT a Martha at all!

Why do I say this?
1. I bought a Custom Plan right from the start because I knew that I would never be able to research thoroughly enough to make the "right decision" about what I should or shouldn't do on my own. So I am just doing what atomic recommends rather than fussing over the details.
2. I want to do all my thinking NOW, months before we start TTC so I don't have to think about things when we are actually swaying. I can just trust that whatever I thought was best now, will be right and I don't have to give it a second thought. Even though I like to analyze the pink sway stats spreadsheet, it is more of a way to orient myself to what parts of my sway will be more important and what parts I will be able to let go of first if I get some BFN.
3. I like information--not control. I am a big believer that the only thing I can control is myself and I have to accept the rest of the world as it is. While I don't have CONTROL over things, I can try to UNDERSTAND it. So just like Mary wanted to sit and listen to Jesus' parables, I want to sit and learn about all this Gender Dreaming stuff so I can understand how it works, rather than worry about it. My lurking on all the forums is my way of connecting with other women out there who have the same interests, goals, and dreams as me---so it is more about building an emotional connection than just "just the facts"....
4. I have totally embraced the idea that there are "no magic foods" for my LE diet and while it is still a diet, its pretty reasonable and becoming second nature to me--which is helpful given that I am still 2-3 months from TTC.

Anyways, I thought I would share my happy self discovery!

I so needed to read this! I think I'm a Martha too based on your post :-) My hubby and I are TTC right now and I feel so relaxed about it because I did all the research months ago. I have to re-read certain things like Saw Palmetto mg's and such but other than that, I've been really laid back.

We are doing a lite sway. I'm taking SP, we/he are doing FR and CFR, and will be DTD every 3-4 days. We feel that we will have what we were meant to have, boy or girl. Either way I'm praying for a happy & healthy baby. A girl would be great but a little boy would be too.

Best of luck with your sway and TTC. Sticky baby dust your way.
