Im just curious....how many people actually stop testing after their first pos opk? I keep going and I'm curious if I'm alone in that :P.
Just got my 2nd day of pos opk....

I usually test one more just to see the fade out, but I'm a POAS addict. :)

Depends on my reasons for using them (awareness or TTC) and if my body does anything funny. If I get a pretty straight forward mucus progression and then my typical heavy feeling after a positive OPK, I don't bother testing after that first positive. If I get weird reoccurrences of EWCM or don't have any heaviness, I might test again. When I conceived my daughter, I got two positive OPKs two days apart (negative in the interim). So clearly something happened there. We did get pregnant because we BD again. But had I stopped testing, I might have missed that second surge (might not have mattered, but still, you get the idea).

I did his past month, because I was sure it was positive at 11pm on Saturday when we Dtd and then it stayed positive until about 6pm on Sunday, that's why I thought we were out...I assumed we'd attempted too early!

I often have people continue testing in case the first positive was a faker. It's up to you, though...if you're pretty sure it's the real deal, you may not need to do that.

I usually stop after first +OPK...but...I have other symptoms that let me know for sure when I am ovulating.

I keep testing until I get my temp rise.

Can I ask then, approx. for how long are you likely to get a +opk for?
When ttc this baby I was just going on cm as I hadn't had much luck with getting a +opk. So when I felt things were 'right' we dtd. I tested the next day and it was +opk, lol! However, I really that this + actually came day after O. Is that likely? Could I still get a +opk the day after O?

When I try to work out conception dates (knowing we only had 1x attempt) it seems that we could only really have conceived on the actual night of dtd (O day). I could be wrong though - just curious! Hope this makes sense?!

You'll get your first +OPK 8 - 48 hours in ADVANCE of O. But for some ladies you can have a + over 2 or 3 days. So it is in fact possible to get a + on the day you are O'ing. I get other symptoms too, where I just KNOW when I'm O'ing, but it's impossible to nail it down to the hour, so to speak. I've just know what my 2 day window is :)

it is very common and normal to have 2 days in a row of positive OPKs, and not uncommon to have 3 days or more. And since you can O 1, 2, 3 or more days after a positive, it is very possible to still have positives after you've Oed.

Pos OPK come before O, not afterwards.

What makes you say you could only have conceived that day? Sperm can stay alive for days after deposit.

I agree but it was her first positive, which leads me to believe she had not ovualted when she got it. :)

Sometimes the surge takes awhile to clear so you can still get pos after ovulation, but usually it begins before ovulation.

I guess its always going to be super hard to pinpoint the exact day of conception as without knowing exactly when O took place, how do you really know?

I wasn't getting anywhere with the Opks so gave up using them for a few days and just used other telltale signs to approximate a good time to dtd - just so happens that I was able to take a test the next day and got a +opk. If I did take it the day before then it 'could' have been positive then too or maybe the day before that - Im really not sure.

What made me think that I must have conceived on a particular day is that based on the due date I have been given I have been using online calculators to give me an approx. date of conception. Almost all of them are telling me a few days BEFORE when we actually dtd!! So I have just assumed that it must have been pretty much within 24hrs of dtd. Does that make any sense, lol?

Yes exactly, and studies have shown even people with a high level of expertise get the day of ovualtion wrong betwen 30-60% of the time

The online due date calculators are barely for anything more than fun LOL. I would not take them at all seriously.
