View Full Version : How accurate is nub theory? Other's experiences please! I am so anxious for mine to be right!

I posted a nub shot a week or so ago and everyone thought boy and after doing a ton of research so did I. Since, I have been on all kinds of forums and chats with so many conflicting views. One study on angle of the dangle looks so accurate and then I go onto babycenter and SO many people have boy fetus guesses at 13 weeks only to find out girl. Super curious on other's opinions and own experience. I have an elective scan coming up but will be 14 weeks and wondering if it's even worth it (they say they are 100% accurate for 25 yrs but who knows).

From what I have noticed in the 2 years now of nub shots it can end in so many ways... but it all depends on getting the best picture.
If the the spine is straight or curved... If the baby is turned to much one way... legs or cord in the way... or just a bad picture.
Also a lot of people do not know enough about how to do a nub guess and they tend to just guess and are wrong.

With the right image at 13 weeks, highly accurate.

purpleploet20- was wondering about the cord and swollen labia being mistaken for boy bits...was wishing I wasn't going to get so anxious this time around about the gender but sooo hoping for our boy.

I'd be surprised if that was a girl. Labia don't stick up like that and right now it's a nub not actual fully developed boy or girl bits so that doesn't really apply here anyway. And the cord normally appears as three floating dots in these pics. I mean this could possibly turn out to be the cord but I'd be shocked.

Lol- thanks ladies. It seems so obvious to me too but then I hear these horror stories and am of course obsessing. Thanks for the reassurance!

From my experience, nub guessing is around 80something% accurate. There are always ones that are going to shock us by going opposite, because a lot depends on the when the imagine was taken. Yours looks all boy. Could we all be wrong? Sure. But I would be pretty blown away by this one if it is a girl

I thought everyone would like to know that I went in today for an elective ultrasound to determine gender and it was most apparent that this little munchkin is in fact a boy:-) Thanks ladies for all of the reassurance and guesses!
