Hi Ladies,

I am trying to figure out the last pieces of "logistics" for my August sway and I was wondering if an OPK goes from positive to negative before ovulation occurs, or if I should keep getting +s up until O.
I have a really short LH surge (I test 2-3 times a day around suspected O) and always catch an "almost positive" that is followed with an increase in my BBT 1-2 days later. The + is always detected around 7PM on CD19 and I get a spike in temps on CD21. On CD20, I get negative OPKs.
With that said, do OPKs go "negative" again prior to O, or does this just happen after O occurs? With the dates that i mentioned above, when you suspect I O?
Last month, I felt cramps in my ovarian region just as I got the + OPK.
I really want to understand this so that I do not DTD on O day

Here is my FF chart: <a href="http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/3ebbd0">My Ovulation Chart</a>
***NOTE*** On my May chart, I got my standard faint +OPK on CD20 (May 8th). I had to delete it so that FF would keep the crosshairs on my chart.

There's no way to be sure (without ultrasounds/bloodwork) and obsessing over these kinds of details sways blue. I would just DTD as soon as you get a positive OPK. Why do you want to avoid O day? Timing DOES NOT sway, so if you do DTD on O day, provided you have just one attempt, it will sway pink.

It is different for everyone and can vary by the month and over the course of time. Positive OPK come on average 24-36 hours before ovulation (and this certainly seems to be the case for you).

Timing doesn't sway anyway http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-general-discussion/7691-trouble-timing.html but you avoid the whole issue by simply DTD the night of the positive OPK. this is also good odds of conception with one attempt, and what most people are doing for TTC a girl.

Thanks for the replies!
Atomic- just so I understand, why do you think I O 24-36 hours after +opk? It seems a lot sooner to me.
Sorry I have so many ? S

24-36 hours is just an average. You will O anywhere from 8-48 hours after your first +OPK. This varies from month-to-month and for women-to-women.

Because your temperature rises 1-2 days after your positive OPK, indicating ovulation has occured. 1-2 days = 24-48 hours

You seem to believe that the rate of time your OPK goes negative is in some way meaningful to when you ovulated, but it isn't. Your temp rise, on the other hand, IS meaningful (because the hole the egg comes from starts to make progesterone which registers as a temp rise when O has occured) Hope this explains a bit better.
