Hi guys,
I just missed an attempt, gutted!!
I got a positive opk with a clearblue digital at cycle day 18 BD, then seven days later had four days of ewcm. I thought I was in 2ww so did not BD again- yes kicking myself!!
BFN today at what I thought was 12dpo but is actually now 3dpo.
My question is, should I start temping? Or using cheap opks?
I really don't want to miss another month as I have been on diet for six months, three failed attempts and two missed ones (my opk disaster and my DH had his appendix removed)
Any advice appreciated!!

why don't you try BD every 4 days? It takes all stress away (and internet cheapies OPK are great.

Yes, definitely temp if you can and use the cheapies. The every 4 days method is good, however you have been trying a long time now just as I have and this is why I am doing temps and cheap OPKs. So we BD whenever we feel like it (because the every 4 day thing was putting pressure to BD when we didnt feel like it) and then again at pos OPK. Hasnt worked yet as I am not PG but I feel better temping as it takes the guesswork out of 'have I O'ed or not'. Had you been temping, you would have known that you hadnt O'ed as you would have had no temp rise.
I am still wondering though whether you did O when you think you did and its too early to test. EWCM in 2WW isnt that abnormal, PG or not, because you apparently get a surge of estrogen somewhere around 7dpo which can result in EWCM. Not sure if it results in 4 days worth, but anything is possible when we are scrutinising our bodies so much!

Thanks gorgeous Steph, I think I will temp, cheap opk, expensive opk and BD if I can every four days all bases covered for July. I really did not want to stress over it all but after this long I just want to see two lines!! Xxxx

I highly recommend temping. OPKs can be quite misleading but temps rarely lie.

I personally do not like the Clearblues and I think the cheap ones work better, plus you can test with them freely without breaking into a cold sweat about how expensive they are!!
I am not a fan of starting temping while swaying, if you do it already that's one thing but i think starting it while swaying gives we of the Martha persuasion something to obsess over.
since you have been on diet for so long let's add in the zinc 8-15 mg 3x a week that I have in your sway plan and something new I'm trying (so you can leave it out if you want, it's a bit of an experiment), if you haven't been eating much dairy/eggs/meat, add in one of the lowest dose B12s you can find once per week.

Yes the BD every 4 days with or without one additional attempt at pos opk is an option. :)

I'm going to butt in and say...although charting and OPKs are useful you might just want to take the "edge" off and go with bd every 4 days. Way less stressful!
Also, like steph said, the second estrogen surge can cause EWCM, so you may not have messed this cycle up at all. GL!

Temps do lie all the time, unfortunately. I love temping for what it is (a good way to help get you in the fertile window for conception or for preventing pregnancy) but they can be misleading for people who are wanting to do the one attempt idea. OPK aren't perfect to be sure but they're the best tooll we have to accomplish what we want to accomplish here - one attempt at the time when it has good odds of ending in conception. :)
