I was on Facebook and there's a parenting site I follow and there was a post from a mum of 2 saying how much she wants more kids but knows they're done and you should have seen the comments!! So many posts saying how they have a PP so "the perfect family" and how parents of more than one or two kids are selfish and how the kids miss out and don't get attention, and they wouldn't dare take attention off one child because they had to watch another...blah blah blah!! It was appalling some of the nasty comments!! Made me so cross! 😠

Ugh! How annoying! I hate people that think they know it all. Tell Em to screw off and get a clue is what I would do.

People don't know anything. That's sad.

guess I am selfish!! My poor children. Wait, why is surrounding my family and children with lots of souls, love, affection, and laughter a bad thing?

That's bs. I also hate when parents are labeled as selfish for the age at which they have them.

I despise the closed-minded thinking that assumes what works for one person must work for all people. My MIL was appalled that we wanted more than two children. Because it was "so perfect" for her. Ummmmm...I'm not YOU!!
I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, that my family of origin would be woefully less enjoyable if it weren't for my parents third child. And they had a pigeon pair. And were planning on stopping and not "tempting fate" (since me and my brother were healthy). But they got a surprise and he is the glue that binds us together. He is my brothers best friend, he is my mothers protector. He is my fathers car-repair buddy. And he is my comic relief. My first brother and I don't really see eye to eye on much, we aren't very close (although its getting better) and if it weren't for my youngest brother, we would probably have drifted apart and just been related, not close at all.
So I personally am really insulted when I see stuff like that. It's like negating all those positive things that he brings to our family. And it's so darn presumptuous to think one gets an opinion on someone else's family size. Selfish my behind, I can't think of a single reason how having more than two children is selfish. Everyone does not have the same time, energy levels, emotional support, etc...so pretending like there is a one-size-fits-all number of children that is appropriate is ridiculous. I respect all family sizes. I know they aren't all for me (for example: one, two, eight, fifteen, etc), but I respect them all. I wish people would realize how silly they sound just making those comments to people.

I think I saw the same one! I was sitting down at the time while my 5 year old was playing with baby and 3 year old was drawing and thinking they certainly get the same amount - if not more attention than a single child. It's just not all from me! There are certainly pros and cons of each situation but I agree that it's a personal decision! Have all the kids you want Mumofsix! As long as they are loved and well taken care of that's all that matters!
