View Full Version : Calling all boy moms and ovulation experts!!!!!!

Okay, I don't believe in timing, I wanted to get that out there first and foremost. I do believe in getting sperm in and waiting around ovulation.
So here's my problem.....
I have charted my ewcm for six months now, along with using opks three to four times per day, so I could see when I have ewcm in relation to a positive opk.
I believe I ovulate on the 17th cycle day every month. I have wet fertile mucus on cycle day 13, then globs of ewcm on cycle day 14,15,16, then on day 17 in the morning it is scant and sticky, and finally by afternoon to early evening, it doesn't exist. Over those days, I feel light twinges from random sides, which I know is the eggs getting ready. On cycle day 17, usually at night, I feel pretty intense twinges from only one side, at around7-9pm. This is consistent every single month. My opk goes positive on the 17 cycle day every month, then negative that same night..
So this is my concern:
I am trying for a boy..... Me and hubby have sex about every 2-4 days in any given cycle. This cycle we are trying, and we did have sex this morning(cycle day 14) after 3 day abstain. So, should we have sex tomorrow(cycle day15) and the next day(cycle day16), or skip tomorrow and do the next day (16)and the day after that(17)my suspected ovulation day.... I hope this made sense... Please tell me if I need to clarify it better.
I am also using preseed , not because of lack of ewcm, but because I want my fluids as friendly Ph balanced as I can.... Please advise, as I am literally second guessing the next "deposit " time every five minutes.....

I would do cd 15, 16, 17, and 18 maybe. I have two boys and they were both conceived with multiple bding over the fertile period. Preseed sways boy too so that's good.

Yup all of my boys were conceived with 3+ attempts before and in the fertile window.

I forgot to mention, that I was thinking about going 4 days in a row, but I didn't know if that would decrease overall quality / and or quality...
Thanks for the responses... I have been Ocd about this for quite some time... I am constantly changing my mind, and second guessing myself

3-4 attempts in the fertile window is good and you are using preseed so thats even better.

So, does everyone think one attempt each day for four is still okay to sway blue?

I also had 4 attempts in the fertile window. Thursday night, Saturday morning, Sunday afternoon and Monday night. My positive OPK was on Monday afternoon and I ovulated 24 hours later. I would have used preseed but didn't need it!

All of your charting and obsessing over it will definitely sway blue too :) good luck

All my boys were OHW with long cut-offs. lol I'm not all that sure frequency does much. Or I could just have been super boy friendly so that it didn't affect me at all.

Honestly i think it maybe the whole pkg. My cousin conceived her 2nd girl with dtd every day for a few close to ov.

This cracked me up! :D
For both boys I also had multiple attempts in the fertile period. If you can I would try for all 4 days

Thanks for all your responses, you are all so great! Hey "odd", it's funny how I all of a sudden become a professional acrobat when it's time to get pregnant.... Last week I told hubby to turn me into a wheelbarrow and get ready to tear up the garden....ha ha ha

I would have sex every 2-4 days and then also get some OPK and have 3 attempts at or around pos OPK. IT's not timing, it's just getting more swimmers in the mix in your fertile window - that sways blue for reasons we don't totally know. or if you don't want to do OPK and jsut operate under the assumption you O on CD 17, I would have attempt CD 16, morning of CD 17, and then again night of CD 17

as long as you're darn sure when you ovulate, it's great.

What I have seen some people do is asume they are ovulating on a certain day, start DTD daily and then keep on going, but if they ovulate later than they think it could end up being 7-10 releases before O happens. Then the sperm from the earlier batches will have died off, and DH will have lowered his sperm numbers from that much releasing. So if you're not totally sure best to DTD every other day instead

It is absolutely the whole package and not ever just one thing in isolation. :)

I agree doing BDing everyday would lower DH's sperm count, making it less likely for the Y sperm to be in attendance. and then the cut off (I think from Shettles idk?) if you do a cut off less than 7 days (ex: every other or every few days no more than 6 day cut off 7 maybe pushing it) would possible increase your chances for Y sperm. my bff had a 1DD and when they were trying for a DS, her DH read and followed info controversial to what's popular on IG & GD, so he did a 7 or 8 day cutoff, b/c he thought it swayed Blue, low and behold it was another DD. Good luck on your sway hope you get your Blue XY Baby! =)

I ended up ovulating two nights early on cycle day 15, so we got only two attempts in, but we are happy to report, we got pregnant on the very first cycle.

I am by no means an expert in ewcm, but I can tell you that my mucus was different this cycle. I really never got the ewcm globs that I bragged of when I first wrote this post. I just figured it was because I ate about six to ten cloves a raw garlic each day, which for me, does make my mucus very watery. I used preseed, and got pregnant this cycle.

I hope that answered what you where asking

I think it's fine, also I think everyone's body is unique, so what mine does versus what your does, doesn't make either right or wrong, better or worse. Some people only get watery, and some people really don't notice mucus at all. Try using preseed if your worried about your mucus not being up to par., but honestly, I'd take watery or ewcm as being very fertile mucus......

PLEASE do not eat 6-10 cloves of garlic a day. That is super dangerous, especially when on other blood thinners like fish oil, epo aaaa you guys scare the heck out of me sometimes.

I meant to say, I use about six to ten daily in my cooking... Lol.... Family of five and we love us some garlic pasta, eggs, chicken, cake, ice cream.... Haha... Kidding about that last part

Cooked is safer than raw and if you're used to it then that's ok. I didn't want anyone to read this thread and suddenly start eating 10 cloves of raw garlic for a blue sway because that is terribly dangerous, esp. with fish oil/epo thanks for clarifying. :)
