View Full Version : Exercise Decision....

I am trying to decide what to do about this whole exercise thing. I really want to do the 60 x 6 because I never exercised with my boys, but I am finding it difficult for a few reasons.

First, I work full time, and taking college classes, on top of having 3 boys, and custody of my husbands little brother (10 years old) *TIME*

Second, I am still breastfeeding my youngest son *CALORIES*

Third, I am going to be taking clomid. *FERTILITY*

I am already limiting myself to around 1600 calories, and skipping breakfast. I don't want to lose my milk supply, and I really don't want to hinder my ovulation when I basically only have three good months on clomid to conceive in. I know that the clomid naturally sways girl, but I am also worried about relying solely on that. I have been on the LE diet for just under 2 weeks and have already lost 1.5 lbs. Our first attempt is looking like it will be about 6 weeks from now.

Ugh. I am just venting mostly. Trying to get my thoughts straight. Someone tell me to calm the heck down lol, or better yet... WWYD?

In your case I'd skip it.

Go couch potato.

I think if I had clomid I'd go couch potato. It's been pretty hard to fit in for sure!

I swayed last year with Clomid & couch potato after eating too few calories for too long. I have ds3 snuggled up in my arms right now. Honestly if it were me, I'd be upping my cals to nearer 2000 & exercising. Your best bet though is to get a plan from Atomic who can take all of your individual needs & turn them into a manageable sway. GL :)

Thank you ladies. I think that's what I am going to do. It's already hard enough for us to conceive. I don't want to push it too much. Plus I don't want to start stressing about trying to find time to fit in an hour of Cardio every day and sabotage myself. I really appreciate the input!

Ahh that's a different perspective entirely. Thank you so much. I've been toying with the idea of buying a plan. I'm going to talk to my husband about it.

im on clomid (1st month this cycle) and im doing couch potato style as my 3 boys wear me out enough im up at 5am every day, my 2yr old is a terrible sleeper and not in bed until my jobs are done at 10pm, im too tired to exercise. There's going to be stories of 'I did this and got a boy', it could happen to us but that's the risk of swaying. If you can't exercise don't fret about it. If you can afford a plan it may help take the stress out of it for you.

I've been on this forum for almost two years now & have seen the recommendations for swaying evolve. Exercise really is a great way of upping your chances and of course there will always be opposites. I didn't intend for my comment to be a 'I did this and got a boy' anecdote. Far too many people start with lower calories and it is essential when you are bf to eat between 1800-2000 cals a day. I've been there & done it and while I'll never regret ds3, I understand just how important it is to listen to Atomic's advice with regards to cal intake. If you're on Clomid you need to be getting pg asap as I'm sure you already know. By eating too few cals you risk losing your ov altogether & having to sway blue just to get pg. That's what happened to me on my first month of Clomid - I didn't ov at all. If you start out at a higher cal intake you can always reduce it slightly without harming your sway. I understand that exercise is tricky to fit in but could you manage something like a dance dvd & get the kids involved too? It only has to be strenuous for you & not a particular workout at the gym etc. As long as it is for 60 mins at a time, you could do 5-6 days a week. Hth :)

With that schedule I wouldn't do it. I got my girl without it!

Oh gosh no. I really appreciate your input! I wanted to hear different sides, and didn't expect everybody have the same answer. I still have not made a decision to be honest. I have been fitting the exercise in for the past two weeks so far, and my summer classes end next Tuesday, so I feel like it might be easier to work it into my schedule after that. I figure I have a couple of days to really come to a decision, because I am still 6 weeks out. Thank you again!

no not at all Dream, if she had anything less crazy a schedule I'd have also said to do it. It was because she just has so much on her plate I think it's too much. :)

I had to kick exercise as well. I exercised a ton with both DSs.
I did exercise as recommended for two weeks, and I immediately muscled up. I guess that's what my body type does.
I don't want to knock up my T, so I'm just dropping.

I am skipping exercise too - spent January to June doing a body transformation challenge with hubby and lost weight whilst gaining loads of muscle as was lifting weights 6 days per week. I need to lose some of this muscle!!!

In 4 weeks crazy how I have stayed same weight but look bigger as flabbier!

Do what feels right to you of course but I do want to point something out here ladies - it is VERY difficult for women to gain muscle mass, full stop. And it's impossible if you are losing weight. What happens is that you lose body fat and your muscles do get a bit more toned (not more muscle, just better defined) so it looks like you are getting buffer, when really you are just uncovering that which was always there.

If you're losing weight on a lower protein diet, there is no way you're gaining muscle. I would not skip exercise because of getting more defined, that does NOT equate to gaining muscle.

Yes I understand all that - losing fat will just make you look leaner anyway.

I had my body composition measured properly in a machine and so I know what I gained and lost... I am just someone who is naturally muscley (is that even a word?) anyway so 6 months of weights every day did not turn me into Arnie but deffo increased muscle mass.

Until I started LE diet I was eating almost 200g protein a day!!!

I just wanted to update that I made a decision here. I have decided to keep the exercise. I love to run and DH and I have gotten into hiking and I really don't want to have to avoid those things at the risk of doing it at boy frequency. I would rather fit in the extra couple of days a week someway somehow. Thank you everybody for your advice and experiences!

Clarification, it's if you are losing weight on a lower protein diet. Women just cannot gain muscle doing that. Eating 200 g protein is a different matter entirely. Exercise does not exist in a vaccuum, it's the big picture of diet + exercise.

I exercised moderately with ds1. With ds2 I did a super strict sway with the couch potato route. This time I'm doing whatever it takes to add cardio. I'm not saying that the couch potato route ruined my sway, but it's getting GREAT results. Also, keeping up with 2 boys and walking the dog, going up and dien the stairs, etc I'm hardly a couch potato at this stage in life.

I did have to up my cals to 1800. I was doing 1500 or less and lost 3 lb in a week so I am now at 1800 and only lost 1 lb this week. I'm hoping I can keep up the slow weight loss. I added empty cals, not protein. I do feel leaner but I'm do tired I know I'm declining my overall health .

Sometimes I get up at 5 am to get it in. Sometimes I throw the kids in the stroller with lots if snacks and find a good trail, I hire a sitter, I go late at night. I'm even looking into buying a treadmill used on Craigslist so I could get it in while the kids are sleeping. I actually have found I really enjoy it!!
