View Full Version : Noooooo - can supplements move O?

I am 4 weeks into LE diet and half way through my last cycle before we make an attempt during my next cycle.
I have been using this month as a test i.e., sticking to supplements, diet and testing out OPKs etc just so that during my attempt month (next cycle) I feel comfortable with everything and hopefully no stress worrying if I am doing things right during my attempt month.
My hubby and I have had unprotected DTD inc. a couple of withdrawals in the last couple of weeks with the last time being last night.... from this point we planned to use protection as it will be then 10 days before my normal O date (I have been charting for the last 8 months and can now normally predict within a day or so). I felt fairly confident his sperm wouldnt stay around for 10 days!
HOWEVER I had side pains this afternoon and low back ache. On a whim I took an OPK and it was blaring glaringly POSITIVE. No no no!
Could all the supplements I have been taking as part of my plan cause O to be as much as 10 days early?
If so it means I DDT the night before a positive OPK.
Aaarrrggghhhh what do you think?!

Well yes it is totally possible...are you taking Vitex? That messed my cycle up. Also L-arginine, EPO, and a couple of others.
One attempt day before +OPK sounds like a pretty good girl sway tactic! Don't panic!

Vitex delayed mine by a few days, too

What are you taking? Sp, vitex, and peppermint tea all potentially screw up your cycle.

The first couple months on vitex I O'd a couple days early. Once I added saw palmetto it delayed it a few days. Good luck!

Did he withdraw the last time? It's pretty hard to get pregnant with a withdrawal but it can happen occasionally. We did it for a few years and never got pregnant but then first month DTD properly I was pregnant. If it was an inside job then sounds like you just had your first attempt lol. Good luck :). Fingers crossed for a sticky pink one!

I'm taking vitex and saw palmetto and both made my ridiculously irregular cycle (cycles length ranged from as short as 11 days to as long as 60 days... it was ridiculous!) become totally regular and predictable (28-30 days cycles). So, yes, they can definitely mess with O, either in a good way or a bad way. It all just depends on how your body handles it, which you might not know until you have been on it for a little while.

Diet can mess with Ovulation as well. Good luck !!

Vitex brought mine forward by 4-5 days and SP delayed it by 3 or 4. 10 days is a bit of a stretch though. Fx for you!

Thanks for your replies!
Supplements I am taking are Aspirin, Soy, Iodine, Folic Acid and Fibre plus veggie LE diet with alcohal every night.
I think I may have actually O'd 8 days early if my OPK is right :-(
If I DTD at around midnight (no withdrawal - me on top... sorry for TMI) and then got positive OPK at 11am the next day do you think that I should count this as an attempt?
If so how does this timing look for pink!?

Yep sounds like you had your first attempt! And one attempt is perfect for a girl. Don't think timing matters at all. GL! How are you feeling about it all?

Oh crikey!
I am not sure how to feel about it - I was all geared up for an attempt next cycle. Just worried that if I am pregnant I wouldnt have been doing everything for long enough. I have been on LE diet for 4 weeks and both me and hubby (OLE, Soy & LR) have been taking supplements for just over 2 weeks.
No point getting upset about it though because if I am I am.... just feel I may have let my sway down and I am going to end up with another boy - this is totally my last baby.
I am going to just carry on as if this is just a practice cycle and next month is my attempt cycle.
OMG I guess this means I am in the 2WW!

@Dynazyme - yes I would be happy with my sway if it was just a bit longer!

I bet it's confusing! You will have to update in a couple of weeks :) FX for a great outcome though. Xxx

Yes, it's def. a possiblity and it may even be part and parcel of how it all works.
I got my daughter with an early O and one attempt in fertile window is getting great results for us.

I agree with what the others have said, I'm not sure that was a bad sway at all and so hoping for pink BFP!!
When you say DH has been on LR for more than 2 weeks, he can only be on it 14 consecutive days, he needs to take a break now for the rest of your cycle and resume at CD 1 of next month (if need be)

Oh I hope so!
Yep DH took LR for exactly 14 days and then stopped... he is carrying on with OLE and soy though - is this ok?

I think this is a very good sway, but I totaly understand that you're nervous now.
Actually I'm in the same boat. Last cycle I noticed my O date was a bit earlier, it was the first month after MC. But maybe it happened because of the supplements.
Now I'm only on CD6 but having O pain on the right side. Opk is negative, but as we would like to have only one attempt, I'm confused. What if I will O earlier again, maybe we should have that one attempt earlier then planed.
DH came up with the idea to have more attempts, every day if "necesary". :D
Well he doesn't really understand why we are swaying at all
I haven't decided to have one or more attempts, but just looking for a coin to flip it...
Hope you will get bfp with a girl!

Katika, if you DTD at positive OPK, that way you can be assured your attempt is just right for conception.
