We have not had a chance to frequent BD. We did last night, plan on it tonight, and that I think will be a 3 day cut off. Should I do a 2 day cut off?
If this helps you, I have had pork a few days here and there, buffalo one day 2 weeks ago. But mostly shell fish. With my son I BD the day before ovulation after a long abstinence.

How badly do you want to be pregnant....if the answer is "pretty badly" - I'd go for the 2 day cut off:)
Good luck!!!

PS - I think you might want to have DH release once and dump it and use the second batch if you haven't been doing frequent release :D

if you want to get pg faster I would do a 2-day one guilt free or even a 1-day one... and I'd have a read on here (and look at the charts) if you want some reassurance: http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJM199512073332301

Totally agree! I do think there's something to the "second batch" idea!!

My take on this would be since you're not totally happy with your diet this last month, I would go with the 3 day cutoff, but if you're frantic to get a BFP then 2-day will def up your odds of pg.

:agree: :agree: :agree:
Minerva's Mommy from IG did a study on FF charts and found that it was more the EWCM that mattered than the timing, so if you have no EWCM you may want to DTD closer to ovulation and if you DO have EWCM you probably shouldn't DTD at that point.

Quick question to add to this conversation: I would like to do cut-off for my next attempt and I was wondering if I do a 2-3 day cut off do we abstain for 7-14 days then BD only once in order to keep sperm count low? Was also thinking of adding O+12 too. Thanks!

I think it depends on how fertile you are and how fast you want to get pregnant. A 3-day cut off or more would already lower your chances of conceiving a lot and especially if you are swaying in other ways to lower fertility. Ultimately more swimmers in there the more your chance of pregnancy is, so if ttc for a long time or if impatient or doing lots of swaying I think frequent bd would be best. If you conceived fast before and not in a rush I would abstain.

Thanks for your response. Both of my pregnancies (one m/c) were conceived quite quickly as I had tons of EWCM. But now that I'm on the girl diet it has dried up quite a bit. I know timing hasn't been proven to be all that effective but I BD every other day and through O when I had my DS so I want to avoid that if I can but still give my self a good chance at getting pregnant. So now I would like to know if we BD and do a 2-3 day cut off? Would that still increase my odds of having a DD?

I meant to say should we BD daily (thats all we can find time to do and my DH has problems physically doing anymore than that either with or without me)and then do a 2-3 day cut off?

honestly I don't know if abstaining sways more than BDing daily, but if you were both very fertile beforehand maybe abstaining would be the best bet as you'd then have fewer swimmers in total in there so that should sway pink most.
I really don't think the cut-off sways either way from the evidence I've seen.
However you say you're doing the diet, so if you're doing that as well as other swaying factors you have a good chance of a DD

thanks for your reply. I'm not in too much of a rush to get preggers so i think I will try your frequent BD with cut off one month and abstain and cut off another. Thanks for your help. Anyone else is welcome to weigh in!

First of all hi and welcome!!!!
You can certainly do that! The reasons I prefer frequent to abstinence is that frequent BD ~might~ produce healthier sperm esp. in couples over 35...abstinence in older couples was tenatively linked to slightly more birth defects in one study. Also most husbands are more willing to do frequent release than abstaining. But they both reduce sperm count.
I personally do not love O+12. It's not proven at all, I think it's next to impossible for people to get pg that way, for anyone over 35 it IS impossible to get pg that way, and it is so hard to do and figure out that people have to get all stressed and obsessed, which raises T levels in a big way. So you end up inadvertently swaying blue trying to hit something that may not sway at all and for SURE makes it much harder to get pg.
If you do want to mix abstinence/cutoff with O+12, I would suggest that as soon as you do your cutoff attempt, your husband start releasing TWICE a day at that point if he can. If he can't release twice a day, have him release once a day, then on the day of your O+12 attempt, have him release once and dump it and then DTD again and only use the second batch of sperm.

Thanks so much for your reply atomic! Didn't know that info regarding abstinence...based on that I think we will do frequent BD so that we don't take any unnecessary risks! I totally agree with you on O+12...tried it a couple of times already and nothing (and I consider myself to be pretty fertile). What about frequent BD from AF until a 2 day cutt off? Does that sway pink? Me and my DH are both 32 years old. I have been doing the french diet, no breakfast, cranberry supps, calcium, mag, low sodium and potassium, CL, basically almost everything for girl sway. Timing is the only thing I am unsure of. Its hard for my hubby and I to BD that frequently but we will try. i'm trying to do opposite of what I did to get my boy (which was TOTALLY boy diet and BD everyday through O). Thanks so much for your help and for all you do for this wonderful site!
