Hi there,
I'm a Kiwi mum to two boys 3yo and 13months (with another boy due in early Dec) - looking into Dr Potter's assistance to helping us get our baby girl
wanting to make some connections if you are in the same boat in the lands down under.
Going to look into getting dream membership shortly to access other forums but thought I'd start a location thread we'd love to hear from you if you have been successful or are in the throws of getting the flavour baby you have always wanted!!
Obviously may be a little while off for us but wanting to know what we are getting ourselves into
Thanks :)

Hi Kitkat18, I'm in Auckland too!! I'm in West Auckland
We had planned that when we were ready for baby number 3 we would try the natural methods, however this little man had a different idea for us!
after over 14 months of trying for our 13month old I fell pregnant before my cycle was back!!
ALl the best for you I really hope your swaying has given you what you were hoping for ;)

Welcome to Gender Dreaming. I have been here for about 1.5 years. I would rather sway than go HT but I only want one more and I really am not sure I want to risk it not working. However Money is an issue so I may end up swaying but HT is my ultimate goal. It wont be for a couple of years though. If I won lotto I would do it tomorrow. I wanted three children and was going to sway for my second but after an early MC decided to just do it for the last one. But then I had twins so lost my chance to sway. I'd still love to give swaying a go and I would love another boy of coarse but I know I'd still want my daughter and I couldn't handle 5 or more kids. If you want to read my full GD background there should be a link to my blog post under my avatar.
Congrats Kitkat. I hope this is your girl.
I am from Tauranga btw.

 1 ,2,3 boys another kiwi super!! It took me four years to convince my DH to go for number three and in some ways it was good having that break it meant I got over to a large extent my GD and I now feel at peace with a third boy instead of it HAS to be a girl!!!
So maybe having a little break enjoying your cool dudes is a good thing until either HT or natural swaying happens Xx

That is nice to hear Kitkat. I am trying to look at it positively. I know a break from baby land would do me good even if it were my girl. Perhaps after the boys are a bit more grown up the novelty of the pregnancy and baby days will make the GD a bit less. FX.
I may have momments where I disapear from this website for a while. Sometimes out of the blue I feel like I need to have a break and just focus on my wonderful boys

That's how it feels for me 1,2,3! it's been so long im just enjoying the novelty of having another baby! I'm also back at work full time that too kind of helped me as I had a bit of my own life, LOVED being a sahm but I did it for six years.
Good luck and keep me posted xx

I always wanted to be a SAHM and I have been since DS1 was born but with three so close in age it got very hard and I ended up getting PND. I am over it now but I really need to make sure I take time out for myself to feel like my own person instead of just a Mum so a new venture is just what I need before going back to the sleepless nights of baby land. lol, my nights are actually still not that great. I am hoping my youngest start to sleep through once their 2 year old molars have cut through. Almost there. I have just gotten them a Nanny for two days a week which is going to be awesome!

Hi all! I'm another one from Hamilton, NZ.
I've spent a lot of time over the years in groups and reading in sites like this one. My husband and I have two boys 7 and 5, then a 4 year gap, where I had 3 miscarriages, but attempted to sway girl a number of times, before I gave up and just wanted to have a successful pregnancy (took us 2 years in the end), but much to our amazement we conceived a girl!
Earlier this year we were "not trying, but not preventing", because we knew we wanted 4 children, but figured it would take a long time to conceive again, but much to our surprise I fell pregnant and we just found out today it's another girl! I cannot believe after so many years of just me and my boys, that in the last year things have changed and I will be a mother of two daughters.
I must be one of the few women who married a man who always wanted a daughter, so it was hard on us both having two boys first - we love them dearly of course, don't get me wrong, but the heart wants what it wants.
Hoping you ladies have successful sways and HT :-)

Wow pyrefly!! That's pretty amazing glad you got your two ladies in the end, I too would like to hear any differences between when you conceived your boys and girls!! I'm pretty small already I lost about 5.5kg got Down to 51.5 kg so skin and bones, lost a lot quickly then very gradually. Pretty happy I can eat my old he diet again already stacking on the weight!! It really is a small world isn't it!
I went through a dramatic lifestyle change when I conceived our first daughter, I'd just had my 3rd miscarriage and thought I need to do something drastic here or this just isn't going to happen. So I changed to very healthy eating habits, I was drinking peppermint tea, taking pre-natal vitamins, no sweets, chocolate etc, some cardio exercise everyday, I'm not very big to begin with, but I did lose some weight and interestingly I was on antibiotics for a chest infection when I conceived. When I conceived with this current girl, it was pretty much the opposite, eating terribly and putting on weight, very similar to when I conceived my boys! I wonder if my age helped, I was 22 and 23 when I had my boys, and nearly 29 and 30 for my girls, also my CM has been non-existent during the time I conceived my girls, no idea why! I don't know how my timing was with my boys, one we DTD all the time, the other was a one shot wonder, but I was charting with my girls and we DTD the day before, during and after ov.
What's funny is I tried all sorts of gender tests and predictors when I was pregnant with all my kiddies, and I seem to always get boy lol, the only tests that were correct were nub theory - best one, I reckon ;-) and the baking soda test.

Wow Claire, it seems so unreal and amazing that someone from my tiny corner of the world is about to do this. I am excited for you and wish you the best of luck. I hope it works for you. I'd love to go to HRC with Dr. P but we are looking into Czech Republic first since it is so close to where my partners parents live and it is so much cheaper. It would be so much more difficult to arrange though I think because they are not allowed to do PGD for gender selection but they let you know all the embryos details and let you choose which one you want to implant (if you get the right doctor). So I could not tell anyone in NZ doing my testing that I am going there so I can choose the gender. Such a hard choice to make. My ultimate goal is still HRC but that will take a while longer to save for.
Will you be telling people about the PGD if you get a BFP? I think many NZers have never even heard of it or know it is an option so I can imagine most thinking it is pretty exetreme. I'd love to be honest to people who I think may be genuinely interested but could not tell them if I went to CzR

I've read a lot but still get confused!
It is so confusing to begin with but honestly just slowly reading more and more you WILL learn it all. I joined when my twins were 9 months with the intention to sway and I was so overwhelmed but in about a year I felt almost like a sway expert. Then I changed my mind to HT after a very scary potential surprise BFP and had to start all over again! I have learned heaps about HT but I feel like the more that I learn the more I realise the less I know. I wish I could sway but we are already going over our number for this last one and I don't want to risk never having a daughter. It is so important to me for some reason even though I was a tomboy

One last post.... for now ;-)
I would like to sway for a girl..... I plan to take calcium supplements and folic acid over the next few months while waiting for DH to hopefully come around.
Is there anything else I should/could do longterm before starting a proper sway plan?
(I am thinking things that I can do that are easy/will not have me constantly thinking about swaying....)
Many thanks!

January 28th, 2015, 08:28 PM
Hey Kaitelle! I hear you honey my DH took a long time to come round to number three! That's why I am having a big age gap , my two eldest are at school 5 and 7! How old is your baby?
Don't take calcium supps that's a hangover from in gender and no one does that now. I probably would do nothing unless you think he will come round in the next few months? If you think he will and you are not at the stage of tears and silence! Then you could ease into LE diet? BUT you have got to be sure or you will quickly resent him for making you be on the diet longer than you need to be X

Hi 1+2+3boys - sorry I just saw your post! I had my consult and have booked in for May!! (Proviso of selling our house before then!! - we are building another one)Just doing another couple of pre tests - another ultrasound at Medex and some more bloods. Having trouble finding put where to get meds though! Can't get them from my local pharmacy even with a script from my doctor! Emailed fertility associates today to see if they will help (wasn't keen on telling them why I was doing IVF overseas!) Not holding my breath though! I think i can order them online - but they will get stopped at customs and I have to provide a prescription from a nz doctor! Complicated! Will keep you posted!
I am not going to tell people - i think it is a bit extreme for a lot of people to understand

It does sound super complicated. And people in little ol NZ at the end of the world would think it is extreme but you have to be there to understand that is for sure. I had never heard of PGD for GS before this website and would not have agreed with it if I had been one of 'the fortunate ones' to get what I wanted or at least both genders by three kids.
I just found out that I can not go to Czech Republic anymore because you have to be over 35 and /or have fertility issues so I'm out on both accounts. I am starting to think of swaying again because I have never tried it and it could very well work, but what if it doesn't :/
Anyhow we are not ready for another anytime soon so I think I need to have some time off from this website for a while. If I end up saving for HRC I'd love to chat. I hope by the time I am ready for number 4 Australia has gotten off its high horse and brought back IVF with PGD for family balancing. 100s of their families are going abroad for it each year. FX cos if they did we would be planning our trip alot sooner
