View Full Version : Think Sway Attempt Has Gone Wrong - Timing

I apologise if this is a bit waffley!

This month was supposed to be our first attempt at ttc for baby no3 :DS:

But I think we've either missed our chance to conceive or we've most likely conceived a girl.

My cycles have been quite long for the last few months -31-33 days with O around CD18-20 (previously, when I conceived both of my girls it was 27-28 days)
Which would've been perfect for us this month as my H is off work around that time.

However I have had what I believe are bad O pains today on CD14
I had a faint positive OPK today as well. Although not sure how reliable these are for me. I didn't test yesterday but did test for the 4 days before that. All of which were negative)

My husband is away so no chance of BD!
We BD on Monday and Tuesday so CD11 and 12

Also I do not have much EWCM right now despite having lots of it for the last few months.
I am ironically expecting a delivery of Pre-Seed in the next couple of days.

So looks like we've missed O day

I guess my questions are:
What are the chances of getting pregnant with a 2/3 day cut off?
What are the chances of conceiving a boy with a 2/3 day cut off?

I hope that all makes sense!

I've gotten pregnant at least 2 times with that cut off (or longer). And I have all boys.

Good luck!

My last son was conceived with a 3+ day cut off plus only one attempt :)

You can still definitely get pregnant with a boy with a 2-3 day cut off! Good luck!

Thanks for the replies everyone, you've made me feel a lot better!

I wouldn't be too upset to have another girl but was feeling very disappointed that we hadn't been able to give it our best shot, if you see what I mean.

Just need to wait and see what happens now... I expect I'll be trying again next month anyway!

Timing doesn't sway and I"ve gotten boys with that long a cutoff 3 of 4 times. The other boy was a sneak attack, no idea when I conceived him.

Timing doesn't sway. There are plenty of ladies on this site who go pregnant with boys up to 5 days before ovulation. My friend for example got pregnant with her now 6 month old son 5 days before she ovulated. I got pregnant with mine the day before. I know two girls who are on their DD #2's and they both got pregnant on the day of their ovulation. I am a huge believer in diet being the biggest factor in gender swaying! The difference between my diet when I conceived our DD and our DS is night and day. Try not to stress out about it.

Ok so....I guess I'm getting a chance to test this theory...

I have just done a test and it is a BFP!!!

Part of me is excited and amazed that it happened so quickly with no effort or real planning and part of me is horrified because I'm a bit of a control freak and I didn't get a chance to do all of the 'boy' things (other than diet) that I was planning. I didn't even get to use preseed!

You did the diet and that's very important! Good luck! Having 3 girls is AMAZING so you win either way!!!

yes agree with all the ladies, my daughter was an O day attempt trying for boy, so timing is a weak sway factor if any

Thank you, I don't think it's sunk in yet!

Either way, boy or girl, it's amazing and I'm very excited.
