If we are dtd every 4 days and get a + opk right in the middle of the 4 day wait, do we go ahead and do an extra attempt at the pos opk or wait it out?

I would wait it out or at least wait 3 days from the previous attempt. How long have you been TTC?

atomic sagebrush
September 11th, 2014, 09:02 AM
if you have been TTC for a really long time, yes.

if you ahve been TTC for only a few months, no

Ok, the day is approaching!! I have always cycled like clockwork, hopefully this month is the same. If I am right I should O next Tuesday. I am contemplating dtd tomorrow night(Friday) because we will be out of town over the weekend and if I ovulate early I am afraid of missing my window. Then we would dtd again Monday or Tuesday when I get a +opk. Does that sound ok? I want to catch this months pretty pink egg!!!

atomic sagebrush
October 9th, 2014, 09:52 AM
IT depends on what method you're doing.

Every 4 day method, you would NOT have another attempt.

Every 4 day plus one attempt at pos OPK - you WOULD have another attempt.

JUST A REMINDER - not everyone is asking about the best of the best of the best for their sway. Some people need to get pregnant more quickly or have been swaying for a long time and so those people need to be willing to have those two attempts! :)

I am probably 60% sway girl hard, 40% just get pregnant.

Also, diflucan, I just got a Rx for that today. Will it hurt my sway too much?

atomic sagebrush
October 11th, 2014, 10:02 AM
Right but Tara, for you the rules are still different because you have been dieting for a long time and TTC for a while without success.

Diflucan is no big deal and I wouldn't worry about it for sway. Would not use if may be pregnant.

Do you have a YI??? IF so, the best remedy is using some plain yogurt with natural cultures as a cream in and around the VJ - I know it sounds gross but it is the absolute best and fastest way to clear up a YI. Works better than medication for most

tarasue
October 11th, 2014, 11:26 PM
Ya, I get yi really easy, not fun.... If I don't change my clothes right after working out, I get one. And swimsuit season is a nightmare! I have never herd of the yogurt trick, I will give it a try next time.

This month is my 1st month off bc and our first month trying(got pregnant with both my sons first try), so Fingers crossed that holds true this time. But I am about 20 lbs lighter than when I conceived my boys, so that may affect things.... O day should be Monday or Tuesday, my opk's are starting to get darker- so exciting. I am having a lot of cramping in my lower abdomen so I hope that's a good sign.

tarasue
October 15th, 2014, 02:13 PM
We dtd this morning and I laid with hips up for 5-10 min. Still no + opk, tested an hour ago, but lots of ewcm(tmi). My question is if I get a +opk tonight or tomorrow do we dtd again???

maidentomother
October 16th, 2014, 07:25 AM
No, I'd stick to every 4 days. Don't have 2 attempts close together.

atomic sagebrush
October 16th, 2014, 10:55 AM
Tara, I"m on my laptop and would have to go to my other computer to look up your plan, but what does it say to do in your custom sway plan?? that is what you should be going off of, and not anything on the forums. If I recall, you've been dieting very strictly for some time and so the normal rules may not apply to you. The plan trumps everyhting on the forum because I made it with all your info right in front of me and it's just not possible for me to remember the specifics of each individual person when you ask q's in the forums. :)

maidentomother
October 16th, 2014, 12:11 PM
Agree with atomic, if you have a personalized plan, stick to that. Second guessing it and yourself will only stress you out and can say blue.

tarasue
October 16th, 2014, 04:22 PM
My plan says one attempt at +opk. Nothing about every 4 days. We have been dtd every 4 days and then I was going to add an attempt at +opk.

So if we dtd this morning and then get a +opk tomorrow, do we go again tomorrow night?

Little Lunasa
October 16th, 2014, 06:03 PM
Without seeing your plan I can't say for 100% but I think when Atomic says one attempt at +opk she means that all other dtd is either protected or with DH releasing outside of you. Every four days is usually the next step after a few bfns.

Ok atomic.... What to do? It's cd22 and I still haven't got a +opk. I am testing 2-3 times a day.

atomic sagebrush
October 21st, 2014, 09:34 AM
Keep going with every 4 days. The nice thing about that method is you can just roll with it and don't worry about the attempt at pos OPK.

tarasue
October 21st, 2014, 09:45 AM
That's kinda where I'm at now. Maybe the opk's are causing me to stress to much.

Thanks:)

Is this positive? We dtd last night just to be safe. When we attempt every 4 days is that day 1 dtd
Day 2 off
Day 3 off
Day 4 dtd again or off??21689

Lots of cramping the last couple of days and almost no cm....

bluebonnet22
October 23rd, 2014, 10:29 AM
tara - the most conservative for pink would be DTD off off off DTD (ie 3 days off between attempts), but this all depends on how long you've been trying.

atomic sagebrush
October 25th, 2014, 12:02 PM
If you're doing just every 4 days you don't need to worry if it's positive or not.

If you want best odds of pink make it a true every 4 days. IF you want better odds of conception, bump it up by a day.

maidentomother
October 25th, 2014, 03:59 PM
DTD day 1
day 2 off
Day 3 off
day 4 off
DTD again

That is the true every 4 day way. I use the same OPKs. Your CD23 ones look like my positives usually do, though they don't appear to be true positives in the traditional sense. But they may be positive for you....have you had darker lines using that brand?

This is my cd 24 opk, i had some really good cramping that morning, so in my head I O'd then. I took one later in the day and the test line was even darker, hope that was positive enough.

I wish I would have asked the 4 day question sooner. We dtd, off, off, dtd - Great.....

maidentomother
October 27th, 2014, 10:16 AM
I think every 3 days is still pretty pink. Cd24 looks truly positive so you should O in 1-2 days.

I found an extra opk laying around and went ahead tested this morning . It's positive again.... We dtd last night, but I thought I was like 7-8 dpo, sooo I didn't hold myself back, (ifyou know what I mean). I hope I didn't ruin things?

That can happen at 7-8 DPO because of the secondary estrogen surge, which is just this little boost of estrogen your body releases to maintain the lining. Can make a fals pos OPK for some people if they send out some LH at the same time

Atomic-
Going on cd 41. If my period does start, should I add soy? I don't know if I ever actually ovulated yet. I got some positive tests, but never much ewcm. Thoughts?

atomic sagebrush
November 9th, 2014, 12:29 PM
Sometimes soy can help, for others it is like throwing gas on a fire.

How many days have passed since you got the pos OPK tests?

tarasue
November 9th, 2014, 03:25 PM
I used soy with ds2 and got a +opk on cd12.

This cycle I got positive opk's cd23 & 24, I quit testing after I got a negative on cd25. For the heck of it I tested on cd32 or 33 and the lines were the same darkness. I haven't tested since then.

Also, my husband has been doing the ole and licorice root. With the licorice root I had him just do two weeks on , two weeks off. Now that my cycle is all out of wack, should he just continue 2 on 2 off, or do we need to adjust that as well?

atomic sagebrush
November 12th, 2014, 01:42 PM
It is supposed to be the first two weeks of your cycle on, then the rest of your cycle off even if it goes a rreally long time.

How out of whack are we talking here and refresh my memory, what is his age and how many months/cycles have you been giving it to him>

tarasue
November 12th, 2014, 04:16 PM
He is 30 and he has been in it about 8-9 weeks

atomic sagebrush
November 13th, 2014, 12:55 PM
You mean 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off though right?? So 4 complete cycles???

He can go for another 2 cycles and then needs a break anyway.

I know for you Tara this is irrelevant (because of BFP) but just want to keep this accurate for others.

Atomic- do we add our sways if the pregnancy fails? I am more than likely going to loose this little firefly. Hcg's have only rose 25% in the last 10-11 days, very slow hb (82) at my sono yesterday and baby is measuring a full week behind. I wouldn't worry if I was a week behind, but the fact the my hcg went from 1258 to 1728 in 10 days is not a good sign.

OH no I'm so sorry to hear that. It is totally up to you. You can do the add your sway (and the info is still helpful to people) but just not add your numbers to the spreadsheet, or you can just leave it if it is too painful to you. Thanks girls. Trying to think positive and hope I get another chance a baby number three in a month or so.

Do I consider Friday, when I had my dnc, cycle day 1? My cycle was so off the month I got pregnant, I don't think I ovulated until cd 34. Because it took my body so long to release the egg, could that have caused issues enough to miscarry? I want to give myself 1 full cycle before ttc again. Well, I don't really want to wait, but think I need to let my uterus lining/cervix ect. healing time. Because as much as I don't want to wait a full cycle, I don't want to loose another pregnancy again.

Tarasue - again I'm so sorry for your loss! I'm not 100% sure if Cd1 is the day you took cervadil or day of Dnc. Just popping in to say I think you are extremely wise for waiting a cycle after a Dnc to let your body heal. I don't think ovulating on cd34 caused your Mc. Good luck to you and I hope to see a BFP for you in jan/Feb.

December 15th, 2014, 10:35 AM
Thanks bluebonnet. I hope we get another healthy/sticky Bfp in jan/feb. I don't know if I will ttc March, just because I don't necessarily want another December baby. At that point I don't even know if baby number 3 is in the cards for us. I am feeling in getting to old, 36 now, kids in my 3 yr olds preschool already ask me "whose grandma are you"? Really!?! I didn't need that comment last week.....

I was so glad to be done with the le diet too! I put on 7 lbs in the month I was pregnant, so I need to crack down a bit, hard to do this time of year. I am starting to increase my folic acid again. I will continue my pre-natal though.

You really have to play it by ear and not start worrying about what cycle day you're on. THat's not how it works after a loss. Your body will wait till it's ready to ovulate whether that's in 14 days or 140 days.

Please don't start looking for reasons why. 99 times out of 100, there was something wrong with egg or sperm or something just randomly happened during the early stages of cell division that just meant the pregnancy wasn't going to work out. It is hardly EVER something you did or didn't do, and most of the time it's moms doing drugs, drinking, smoking.

Ovulating on CD 34 is NOT LATE ovulation. It really isn't. The idea that long cycles might be more likely to end in miscarriage is totally unproven (because people who have really long cycles are also more likely to have miscarriages because they have other health issues anyway) and it's in much longer cycles as in people who take 3-6-9-12 months to ovulate. 34 days is barely beyond totaly normal range!!

tarasue
January 7th, 2015, 08:51 AM
I believe today is cycle day 1. I had the same type of bleeding the day before I got the positive pregnancy test for my loss, so I'm guessing that was implant bleeding. If this is really Af, what about soy ISO? I took it the month I conceived ds2. Does it sway blue? I don't remember the doses I took though.

I really, really, really do not recomend soy iso for you Tara. I think it causes tons of trouble and since you're having trouble to start with, I'd prefer you left it alone.

There is debate about how it sways, I think it sways pink, others say blue.

atomic sagebrush

Should I add baby aspirin as well to thicken my lining?

Have you had any medical indication that your lining is thin or that you are not succesfully having implantation???

So many people experience a loss and then think they need to take something to "aid implantation" when in reality the human body is pretty darn good at getting and staying pregnant, and taking a bunch of stuff for no reason may actually cause trouble that you wouldn't normally have had.

tarasue
January 9th, 2015, 02:46 PM
No. I think my lining is fine. I can't find baby aspirin anywhere anyway. Do I stick with cd5-9 on the clomid? I was thinking of starting tonight which is cd4.

atomic sagebrush
January 11th, 2015, 12:52 PM
If you have no medical indication taht there is any prob. with your lining or implantation (and this is NOT having a miscarriage, this would be several repeat chemicals in a row) then there is no reason to take baby aspirin.

If you did have issues with lining, there are way better ways to treat that other than aspirin.

tarasue
January 11th, 2015, 02:36 PM
No I have no known of lining or implantation issues. I went ahead and took the first pill on cd4. What does starting it earlier cd2 or cd3 do differently from starting later on cd5?

Thanks for your insight and help, I really appreciate having such a great site to have for support this past few months!

atomic sagebrush
January 11th, 2015, 02:44 PM
Some people think it ~may~ help up odds of twins to take it earlier, and women who usually ovulate SUPER early may have to start it quite early to be sure they "head the egg off at the pass" so to speak and get that Clomid in there soon enough to help trigger a good ovulation. I personally have only seen a couple people take it CD 2 and I have my doubts about using it that early, you do need SOME estrogen early in the cycle to help build a nice lining and I have fears that starting it too soon might make for a cruddier lining.

CD 4 is actually a nice day to start it! Good compromise between CD 3 and 5, which is when most people use it.

atomic sagebrush

My dr upped clomid to 100mg. Have I seen you post something that the clomid lasts two cycles? I'm hesitant to take it this cycle. Honestly, I think it's causing me to gain weight & I am not playing that game. I have stayed 1800-2000 cal a day and cardio for 70-85 min a day 6-7x a week. It's not adding up. Is that a normal side effect?

tarasue, I'm wondering if it's water weight? Clomid can cause that. If you don't lose it by the time AF is done then I'd think it wasn't water.

I also personally gain weight in the Winter unless I'm extra strict. So even without changing my cal intake my body just holds onto stuff. BUT you would notice this happening in previous Winters.

XXforhubby
February 6th, 2015, 09:48 AM
I am so sorry Tarasue! I would see what Atomic has to say. I am always hesitant to take more of something if a lower dose may not be working.

Hugs! Sometimes my body holds onto to weight to keep things working properly. This cycle, I could not get rid of the extra 4 pounds. Seriously! I eat the same 1400-1600 cals and exercise 6-7 days a week too! But things have run more smoothly this cycle. Maybe this is what your body needs to give you a sticky BFP after what it has been through.

Hang in there! Be kind to yourself right now- you have been through so much heartache. I hate to see you dwell on something that won't make a difference. Your body is set for pink with all you are doing. Remember, our weight does fluctuate 5 lbs either side and that doesn't effect a sway.

Tarasue- FIW, AF just paid me a visit too. At least we can be cycle buddies! It appears we were this cycle too. If I remember correctly, we were cycle buddies the cycle you got your BFP. Hopefully I'll bring you better luck this time and bring in a sticky, pink BFP for you! I just placed the order [emoji8]! Third time's a charm!

Thanks for the encouragement girls! Xx, so sorry Af came for you too. I do remember we got our first bfp's together, fx we can do it again this month. I hope we all get bfp's, every single one of us have tried so hard and been focusing for months for this. There are lots of "upsets" as well in this group, hopefully we can turn things around. I think I may try to stay away from this site more this cycle so it's not as all-consuming. , and I can be more relaxed this month. Fingers crossed for you all!

The effects to a pink sway seem to last 2 cycles. But you are needing it to help ovulate and in your situation I think you ought to take it this month.

The Clomid is a kajillion times better sway than the weight loss, and I think this may be stemming from the ED mindset and not from anything you need to worry about for your sway. It doesn't matter if you gain a bit, it's fine. NO worries.

Your metabolism can change and make you hold onto weight if your body "wants" to. I agree my weight just hangs around in the winter sometimes.

My husband says I needed to gain that weight, I just get so fixated on a number and can't focus on being healthy. If you remember I was also having hair loss problems, that has gotten completely better having gained weight back, it's all coming in gray but gray is better than the bald spots I was getting!!!

ARGH I don't like them upping your dosage without the monitoring.

What is your gut instinct telling you - 50 or 100 mg?? You ovulated on 50, right??

I think you need that weight!! Hang on to it, it's your ovulation security blankie. Every time you feel like it's too much, give it a little hug and remember it is helping to preserve your ovulation and up odds of pregnacy!!

Tarasue- let's keep each other in check! I too gained 4lbs last cycle and have not been able to lose it. I feel we both need it for our bodies to do what we want them to. Let's stick to the same cals and exercise regimen as we have been doing. I could use a buddy right about now! We will be each other's cheerleaders!

Thanks Atomic, it did take my body twice as long to ovulate when I was down those pounds, so maybe there's something to it. I'm still 10-15 lbs lighter than when I convinced my boys.

I am guessing I ovulated. I had a positive opk, ewcm that changed to lotion-like cm, lots of cramping. I have never temped & I don't really want to start, one more thing to obsess over.

I am less than happy with my ob, but I don't have many to options here..... Remember she prescribed the provera, spur of the moment, I took two days then realized I was actually pregnant. She seems to just throw drugs at patients who have questions about fertility, instead of actually seeing them.

I took 50mg cd 4-8 last cycle, what are your thoughts on this cycle? I thought about moving it up to cd 3-7, thoughts?

I would compromise and take 50mg days 3-7. You know the 50mg worked before, and I am always hesitant to take high doses of medicine. Plus, your OB isn't monitoring you.

I'm sure Atomic will offer her thoughts!

The more I take, the more chance if multiples? Part of me would love twins, part of me doesn't want to do anything to add risk to a pregnancy. If I did the 100 mg, do you split it up 50mg at morning and 50 at night or do all 100mg at once?

I really think you should take just 50mg again, no later than CD3-7. I might even consider CD2-6 since you Oed on the late side last month. I would NOT up the dose to 100mg without being monitored, and especially not take 100mg earlier, unless you are okay with multiples! I wouldn't risk it though as I'm terrified of triplets. Regardless of dose, you should always take the full dose all together once per day.

I'm sure I gained a few lbs (must be at least 3, could bd as many as 5) JUST in the past week as I've been barely fasting and kinda snacking. I've been ravenous, sick to my stomach hungry oftentimes, though, so I believe my body needed/needs the extra food and cals. I especially have been craving fat & protein. I very much think our bodies know what's best and I try to listen to mine even I don't really approve/agree. I think atomic & XX are very likely correct about you needing the 5lbs. IF they aren't just water weight from the clomid.

Today is cd 3, I think I will take the first dose tonight. 50 or 100..... That is the question!!! Can you take it like you do soy ISO. & increase the amounts. For example take 50mg the first two night and 100 the last three nights?

I've never heard of clomid being taken at different/increasing doses on different CDs like SI, so I wouldn't recommend trying that. The most experimental dosing I've seen is taking it for more than 5 days, I've seen up to 10 days.

I did a little googling (so feel to ignore me) but it sounds like some women are put on 100mg of clomid right from the start. I would just do the 100mg of clomid and hope for the best. You can't take it many cycles so if your Dr. gave you an increased dose I would take it- but I understand your hesitancy, especially since you aren't being monitored and your Dr. has made questionable choices in the past. Good luck on whatever you decide!

Yes I do remember that. :/

In that case I'd stick with 50. That happened to another member on here, the doc just kept upping the dose when she didn't get pg (even tho she was ovulating) and she ended up with OHSS in one month, then twins the next! (she did get a girl though)

3-7 is good too. No one is really quite sure of the difference.

Do look on the bright side in one arena - tons of gals on here would love a doc who would throw Clomid in their general vicinity LOL.

Keep that weight on and let's move forward from here. :)

They typically have had bloodwork or some other medical history that indicates it, or are being monitored

I think there is at least somewhat higher chance of multiples - but a lower dose is NO guarantee that you won't get multiples!!!

Remember, people have gotten twins, triplets and beyond on Clomid too.

100mg is standard starting dose for ladies not Oing on their own, but since tarasue is I think she should really stick to 50mg.

Some drs think taking it later reduces chances of multiples but that isn't proven. But it does affect when you O, as O happens on average 7 days after your last dose. Some drs will assign certain days so that you O around the time you usually do, or later if you're Oing too early. CD3-7 is the middle ground.

A few doctors have been trying 2-6 especially for ladies who O really early. They want to get the meds in there in time to help. If you regularly O on CD 10, starting the meds CD 5 may be too late.

12.5 week scan. Looks to be baby boy number 3. Trying to make peace with it all. The tech said she wasn't 100%, but if she had to guess, she would say it's a boy.
