There has been so many shettles opposites that his theory has been debunked, there are many other factors that go into swaying.

I have a boy and want a girl. I bought and read the Shettles book. After a month of online reading, and participating in a few TTC forums, hardly anyone believes in Shettles method anymore. Atomic's gender sway (GenderDreaming) methods are much more popular right now.
If I conceive this month it will be a Shettles sway for a girl. If I'm still trying next month then I'll go for the GenderDreaming And LE method.
I figure 45/50 shot at a girl without the sway methods. I'm praying that the stars will align and I'll get one somehow!

just found this for you, basically what atomic has explained to me few weeks ago :
" A note about timing in relation to ovulation. Traditionally, this has been a part of a sway but it is an area that has been heavily researched and unfortunately the studies do not seem to agree with each other. One found that DTD several days before OV was more likely to result in a girl, but more disagreed and found that DTD on OV day was more likely to result in a girl. Because they conflict so drastically, we now assume that timing doesn't sway at all. If it did sway, you would expect them all to be finding the same (or similar) thing."
it is taken from here (where you can also find recomendation to this site : D ) http://community.babycentre.co.uk/post/a18396645/welcome_and_tips_for_ttc_girlboy
I really hope you will have a girl!

I guess most of you know this paper (It is the only paper about timing and genderselection I know in a realy high ranking journal).
MMS: Error (http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJM199512073332301)
"Timing of Sexual Intercourse in Relation to Ovulation — Effects on the Probability of Conception, Survival of the Pregnancy, and Sex of the Baby; NEJM" (see figure 4)
On the other side I thought maybe it can work in terms of "sperm reduction"??? Or does sperm reduction has to occure already in the testicles???

Thanks for sharing. So timing is out.
Now you're asking about low sperm counts, which are supposed to sway pink. I believe Atomic supports sperm reduction to sway pink, but warns that it can reduce overall chances of conceiving.
Last time we BD it was after DH sat in a very hot bath for ~20 minutes. That was two days ago and I can't confirm O yet so we'll see!

Unless you had an ultrasound to pinpoint your DAY of ovulation then you do not know when you really got pregnant. You can only get pregnant around ovulation time, so it is normal for all pregnancies to occur around about O day. :)
I have 3 of 4 boys conceived with very regular cycles and cutoffs (one was an oopsie right after I got off AF, one was that we were TTC but my husband changed his mind and we stopped BD before we thought I could possibly get pregnant, one was a true Shettles attempt and my husband was actually away for the weekend when I ovulated. the other boy was a sneak attack and I have no idea when I BD with him) Then I got my daughter very late at night the day before O day (and my O was confirmed by ovulation) and that would be a Shettles boy timing.
So for me, 4 Shettles opposites.

To clarify, SOMETHING about the way Shettles is/was done seems to work for people and that is why it has endured. But it's NOT the timing of the BD and that has been proven, I believe, beyond any reasonable doubt. Timing intercourse does not work, it doesn't sway.
Sperm numbers may sway to some extent (so a long cutoff might possibly sway) but MOST importantly, our data is showing that one attempt sways pink big time. And since Shettles was always done with one attempt, it is very likely that the perception that Shettles worked was because the one attempt and not becuase of the cutoff. So, what we are doing now, with good results, is putting that one attempt on a day of the cycle where the odds of conception are good and getting 70% success for pink with that.
