View Full Version : Ultrasound Thursday... Kind of freaking out

So I bit the bullet and made an appointment with an elective ultrasound place to find out the sex. I go this Thursday when I'll be 16 weeks 3 days. I'm nervous about finally hearing the verdict, another boy or the much sought after daughter. I am also really big for 15 weeks so we want to confirm it's one baby. It's my third so it's normal I assume to be so big so early.

We won't be sharing the sex with family because I want some time to deal with my GD and also give our family incentive to look forward to the birth, which I don't think they would if they knew it was a boy.

I've been looking at all the girl stuff I bought "just in case" (a few outfits) and hoping I won't feel foolish for hoping. This is most likely our last so yeah, just trying to prepare myself to accept whatever news we get.

Hi, you are so not foolish for hoping. We all hope. I still have my just in case outfits I brought before I found out my twins sex's. Although I feel the chance of a daughter for me is small I still cling to the hope that I may get her one day and get to use the outfits and that gives me comfort sometimes. I truely hope that these items you have will be in use in a few months time. :) It is not fair aye, that hope we have and the stress it adds to our pregnancy. Goodluck to you for Thursday

Good luck! We are all rooting for you and hoping you hear pink! Did you do an earlier u/s with nub shots at all?

Hope you hear pink!

No, this will be my first u/s so my only guesses so far have been based on old wives tales. I feel like it's a boy just based on my cravings being basically the same as my previous two pregnancies and the fact there is so much pressure from family that it be a girl.

Thank you for the dust! I'll take it!

So today I got the best pick me up. I was getting Taco Bell at the drive thru and the girl at the window was oohing and awing over my 6 and 3 year old boys in the back. Then she noticed I'm pregnant and asked if I knew what I was having and I said no. I half expected her say the usual now-you-need-a-girl but instead she says, "wouldn't it be awesome if you had three boys! They're beautiful"

It just made my heart beam. :o What a sweet girl, I want to buy her flowers she lifted my spirit so much!

What a lovely girl to say that! I hope you get to hear it's a girl but if not then hopefully the good vibe from that comment sticks. Your boys must be super cute. Goodluck for today :)

Welp! I knew it! 20994

I'm really hoping it's a mistake but that nub looks like we're a three boy family. Ah well, he will probably be awesome.

Not gonna lie, I totally cried when I got out to the car. This is likely our last so my dreams of being able to make dresses for my own daughter or seeing my husband raise a girl are pretty much gone and that's a bummer. I hope I can get through my GD soon though so I can look forward to this little guy's birth, but I'm pretty bummed I don't get a girl, but I'm sure this boy will be pretty great. I'm sure you ladies, of all people, "get" it.

At least I'd have been a catch in midevil Europe as a bearer of sons!

We sure would have been a catch! So sorry that it isn't a girl. It sure looks like a boy because of the protrusion but there are the three lines too. He must have been wiggling it during the shot to make it a bit blurred.

Do you sew? Me too. I just started this year but have always wanted to learn. It does suck to a degree because sewing is my creative outlet but I feel like there is a limit to my creativity because so many things I'd love to make are out of bounds due to having no daughter. I will make dresses for myself when I am good enough but oh the cute little things that I couldn't wear. And I LOVE lace, wish I could put it on everything! I really wanted to see my DPs daughter too.

The twins were most likely our last but we may go one more time in a few years once my hands are less full and I have had a break from Mothering young children. By then I will be an expert sewer instead of beginner. :) I am starting to come up with some pretty cool and different boys things and feel like it is a challenge which helps me get more excited about sewing only boys things.

Hugs to you. You will have the three cutest little guys around.

Hi Hun. I was fairly devastated when I found out that I was having my second son, but he is just over a week old now and he is my perfect prince. My GD dogged me badly all through my pregnancy but it has definitely taken a huge step back now he is here and 'real'. I had a little twang yesterday when I was in Mothercare and they had some adorable pink hats with kitty faces embroidered on them and little kitty ears, and I thought 'I would have lived to buy that for my daughter...' But then I took a deep breath and walked out of the shop.
It will get better, I promise. And he will be awesome! Xx

So sorry you didn't see a little girl. You must be heartbroken. I hope you can find peace with it sooner than later.

I cried for like two days but I followed the advice of some of the ladies here and splurged on an outfit for him. We picked out a first name and I'm feeling a lot better about him now. Still bummed I don't get to do dresses and frills but I can't wait to meet this guy now and see him interact with his brothers.

I read through this post and want to congratulate you on your baby to come and joining the THREE BOYS mom club. It really is not such a bad club to be in and it is nice to be the "only" princess in the house. I know you alreay love him dearly, but crying spells are definitely ok too. I have for certain had my share of crying outburts! May you have a wonderful rest of your pregnancy and an easy labor. I hope he is all you know he is and more! Congratulations again!
