Hi, Hope every one is well.

I've had more test done at doctors as I have not stopped bleeding(had few days off but no more that a week at a time at most) after my having a m/c over a year ago. All my tests before came back normal but now my blood tests are showing signs of pcos. Will be having yet another ultra sound soon as well.

In the mean time I have been told to lose weight and to cut out sugar and eat 3 meals aday. (I'm made of sugar and I'm a bit of a meal skipper, mainly lunch.I just find it hard eating at lunch and tend to just have cherry coke).

The doctor said that if I did these things it may help me out or even get me back to normal.

Any way I'm going to weight watchers and starting today going to eat the pcos l.e diet version but I'm still a bit scared etc as we only want the one child and really do want a girl.

Has any one on here conceived a girl with pcos/and/or done the pcos ttc girl diet?.I have every trust in atomic and she has helped me out a lot through this so its nothing to do with the plan like that, its the food.I hate most of it on the list lol apart from the turkey, veg and fruit lol.I just like to know what other people eat/ate on a pcos diet.

Today so far I've had for breakfast....muller light yogart and banana,no added sugar summer fruit squash drink.....lunch I have a wafer thin chicken sandwich with a tiny bit of salad cream light, cucumber and whole meal bread and squash drink again .... and dinner prob have sweet jacket potatoe with bit of melted butter and light salad cream, salad and wafer thin chicken and sqush drink again.
Also be doing my usal 1 hr exercise (walking).
Thanks.

We have gotten great results for people with PCOS (all of whom were on the alt diet) and got 8 of 9 girls!!

Did you see I also made a bit different diet which is also PCOS-friendly?? It's in this thread about 5 posts from the top.

Hi, Many thanks for your reply.
I have just been reading the link, thank you.I actually read it this morning quickly when I typed in info for pcos.
So confused with everything at the moment and what to do.
I have to include meat in my diet as well because of my iron level and take iron tablets. Im a really fussy eater and not keen on meat either.
I'm just going to wait for the next scan and also I have now got to do a fasting blood test this week as well. As soon as I know for sure whats going on I will prob buy another plan but a pcos version /what you recommend.
Mean time I'm just eating 3 meals a day, meat, fruit, veg etc and yogart.Sticking to low cal within weight watcher points,no snacking which I don't do anyway and exercising again.
Day one nearly done.It was not as hard as I thought but I miss my cherry coke lol.
Thanks for all the great info as always.x

I'm on it. Here are some of my go-to foods.
Light rye wasa crackers with light laughing cow cheese, cucumber slices and salt & pepper
Blend 1 cup cottage cheese with frozen berries & equal
Iceburg lettuce salad with a combo or ranch dressing & fat free Italian mixed together so I get the amount of dressing I like but don't go over my fat limits (tastes like a creamy Italian dressing)
Steam a pkg of frozen cauliflower then use a stick blender to blend in margarine & salt for some fake mashed potatoes that won't cause a spike in blood sugar. I serve green beans in margarine along with this.
Dates are my go to sweet since they don't seem to make me gain weigh and help me get my calories up without adding more fat & protein
Smoothies made with unsweetened soy milk, 1/2 scoop protein powder (http://www.swansonvitamins.com/swanson-premium-whey-protein-powder-36-5-oz-1035-grams-pwdr), 2 TB peanut butter, ice, salt and 1 tsp glucomannan NOW Foods Glucomannan 8 oz Pwdr - Swanson Health Products (http://www.swansonvitamins.com/now-foods-glucomannan-8-oz-pwdr) and splenda
Cheese sticks (helps me not go over on my serving limits

Yes I totally understand. Not a fan of grilled cheese sandwich or turkey-gravy for that same reason!! :p

I do want you to be sure you're getting some fat. You are eating quite low fat and that may not be best for you. I would eat between 40-60 g fat per day and this will make it easier to get enough cals iwthout having to go overboard on carbs.

Hi,Many thanks for reply. Will def up the fat.
I had blood test again and this time they have come back normal.Really don't get whats going on and its nearly been a yr and half since m/c now.
I started testing for ovulation again as bleeding stopped for 4 days.I got a positive this morning then later on in the afternoon had period pains and the bleeding had started again.Did another ovulation test and now its negative (same day).
Will still carry on with the very low sugar diet/losing weight/exercise though.x

I agree this has just gone on so long and surely must be driving you mad!!! The only thing i have ever heard of that can cause something like this, is fibroids.

ARe you guys having attempts?? This sounds a bit crazy but I wonder if conception might be a cure here. If you were in with attempts every 4 days, you'd have a chance of pregnancy when you released an egg.

Hi,
I've been checked for fibroids quite a few times now and nothing. My Mum had those and ended up having a hysterectomy at my age (36) but as far as they say I have def not got that.
Yes it drives me mad! Its so annoying I never know what is going to happen and have to always wear towels just in case.
We have still been TTC when the bleeding is not bad or when on the rare days it stops but nothing has happened yet.x

More food ideas:
The PCOS version of LE has been much more challenging to me than the regular LE version. Here are a few more things that are working though and not causing me to gain weight.

Shred zucchini into noodles and stir-fry in canola oil & salt or steam broccoli and mix with Ragu light alfredo sauce. I can also have Dreamfields pasta and not gain weight as long as I limit myself to 1 cup cooked and have it no more than 1-2 times per week.

Pumpkin Smoothie: 1 cup unsweetened soy milk, calorie free sweetener to taste, 1/3 cup pumpkin, handful of ice, 2 oz light cream cheese, vanilla, salt, 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice. Blend and enjoy!

Mission small low carb tortilla - spread with preferred flavor light laughing cow cheese and refried beans. Brown and serve with salsa.

Hi Hoping for pink ,Thank you for food ideas and thank you Atomic for the messages you sent back. I had another scan on Saturday and they found nothing......again. The doctor said they can see nothing wrong at all and they really don't think I have pcos. Really not sure wht I'm ment to do now. Lost so much blood Friday it was awful but now its calming down again. It does this now and then. The doctors havnt a clue whats going on .My bllod tests are normal again. The only thing that's low but still in its range is the female hormone pedesreone (spelt it wrong ,sure your know the one lol.)

I saw this topic and your problem.
Do you already have children who you've delivered by C-section?
Could you have a niche?

Hi, Hope you are well.
We have no children yet.
I joined this site a few yrs ago and wanted to try a girl sway. I got pregnant last year in may but when I went for a scan they found nothing and said I was having a M/C.
Since then I basically have not stopped bleeding.I get the odd few days off now and then .Some times the bleeding is just a small pink patch other times like the other day there was so much it was awful .t m.i but I filled about 8 long night towels and it over flowed. Its like my body is m/c every month or so again.Had loads of tests they cant find anything. We only want the one child and I'm 36 now so getting very worried.x

Have they tried supplementing you with progesterone?? I find that rarely helps but then again this is a situation that I have never seen before.

I'm sure you have done this already but have you tracked the bleeding to see if we are seeing any patterns??

Hi Hope you are well.
Funny you saying about the progesterone. This is always on the very low side in my blood tests. I looked this up and I have so many symptoms of this!
headaches,
migraines,
bloated stomach,
mood swings(normally very calm person and laid back until last year)
insomnia,
muscle pain,
fatigue
and not forgetting the huge amounts of blood loss.
Low progesterone causes dysfunctional bleeding and also miscarriage.Which is maybe why I had a m/c.

My estrogen and testosterone were high on one test but only the one but if that is going high now and then, high estrogen can cause excess bleeding as well and maybe if the testosterone is going high now and then that's why I'm getting a bit hairy this year.

I wrote a letter to the doctor yesterday and gave it in about this as I know they can do progesterone injections.I can't believe it took me 20 odd mins to find what I think is wrong and the doctors a year and a half to find nothing when I think its now obvious .x

I have been tracking on and off since the m/c in may 2013. Lately I seem to be getting 5 heavy days.Always one day really heavy in that so I am thinking that maybe this is my "normal " time of the month.x

Well, the problem with the hormones and symptoms is that the symptoms are in line with tons of things and really the best way to know is bloodwork.

Do you know when they tested your prog. levels?? They need to test at a certain part of the cycle to be sure. YOu're supposed to be low in progesterone during some parts of your menstrual cycle and since you're not really clearly cycling, it is possible that they just tested at a part of the cycle where you were in the low phase. I wonder if birth control pills or even Clomid for a month or two could help.

I think it might be a good idea to keep clear records for the next 3-6 months and then we will have something concrete to show to a doctor. (3-6 months is a long time and I don't think you should just wait it out, but be keeping track of things while we pursue other stuff.)
