I started the boy diet a week ago or so, and I lost 2 lbs! What am I doing wrong? ? I have been eating a TON!!!

My only issue is trying to eat carbs and protein together. I really am trying. When I have a piece of fruit, I eat some beef jerky or nuts with it. When I eat meals, I try to make sure they are balanced.

I need to make sure I GAIN and not lose any more!!! Help!

You are probably eating a lot less sugar if you are not eating refined foods now. I would lose weight too. Are you doing any weights? That would help with muscle mass.

I can't afford the gym, so I have been doing stuff at home... just a few days a week for about 20 min. I guess I could try to do more. I just kind of hate exercising...

I think that is a big reason I didn't gain much on the boy diet ... my girl diet was not low-calorie it was low-nutrient with lots of sugar. So the calories I consumed didn't change much in total, just changed drastically in their make-up. Do you think this could be part of it for you Hobber? I bet it will balance out in the next couple of weeks. I also agree with NBP that doing some weights to build muscle mass will help!

You guys are right--It probably is the lack of sugar. I was doing Atkins before this, but I was still eating refined things, and I was eating very high fat foods, which I am eating less of now. Before any of this, I was eating a TON of sugar. I have always had a huge sweet tooth!

Try having a non-diet soda with every meal... thats an extra 200 cals. And for dinners always have a sauce on the meat (BBQ, Honey something, Ranch, Gravy, or whatever sounds good). Hubby likes ranch on his brocilli and a mix of mayo and mustard for other veggies (1/4 cp of mayo and 1-3 tbsp of dijon mustard). Also eat 5-6x's a day so your body doesn't have time to burn of the weight.

Do you drink alcohol? When I want to lose weight giving up wine makes a huge difference - I don't drink loads but a few glasses spread throughout the week and perhaps a few more at the weekend makes it very difficult to lose weight no matter how good I am - it almost always leads to more snacking too! Wine has all those anti-oxidants too :D

Don't panic, it's ok! I agree with everything everyone already said and I do want to stress the idea that nutrient dense foods are actually much better for a blue sway even if you don't gain a pound. I suspect that you will plateau shortly and then you can go from there.

You can also add in nuts, an energy bar, more juice, etc. but I don't know if I would bother, I'd just hang on and wait for the plateau, because it's surely coming!!

PS - thanks for sharing this, some days I feel crazy because I really do eat like a boy-mom all day long and I never gain weight!!

I lost two more pounds this week!! I can't believe that I am complaining AT ALL about this, and if I weren't doing a boy sway I surely would be THRILLED to lose weight! But I know losing is bad for blue. I wonder if I cnaged something in my body by doing that Atkins diet??

I am still plugging away, stuffing my pie-hole with potatoes, meat and tomatoes. I haven't had much juice, but I will do that next. Hopefully the plateau will come soon! But since my high school reuinion is in 2 weeks, I won't complain too much about weight loss!

I still look like that too. I may have lost a little weight, but I am about 15 lbs over what I should be.

Wow that is an interesting idea about Atkins...I know he claimed that his diet could reset your metabolism and maybe that's what happened to you!

I think for right now this minute, just take the weight loss and be happy about it and bide your time for the plateau because it IS coming!!!

Lost another pound! I was on vacation (at my HS reunion) and I ate like a pig, but still lost weight!! I am freaking out now... do you think I should postpone my attempt?? I had my heart set on October, but it seems really soon, and if I can't start gaining, what can I do? I seriously think it is the lack of sugar in my diet. I used to have a HUGE sweet tooth and ate crap all. day. long. I am not kidding. I would sometimes buy a box of twinkies and eat all of them in one day!

I have bought some juice. I am eating a ton of burgers, fries, bananas, etc. I just feel like I can't stuff any more food in!!

sounds like its the lack of sugar then! i dont knwo if you should not sway bc of the lsing weight. but i do think sticking to this diet, youre body will eventually get used to it and then a couple weeks after that will decide if it wants to gain weight or plateau. you must have a good metabolism.

you must have a good metabolism.

That's the thing--I don't! I am actually 15lbs over what I was before having kids, and I should probably be about 5-10lbs less than that, even. I have always struggled with my weight. It is just so ironic that the ONE time in my life I WANT to gain, I am losing!

Same thing happened to me. 126 pounds after diet- usually about 128. I wouldn't worry- I was stufffffing my face with food. I was so full. But I always ate a lot of sugar and low nutrient food before this, so I think it is from sugar too. DH lost 15 pounds- and he is not a big guy!

Good to hear I am not the only one! Congrats on your pregnancy!

Eat more sugar/carbs along with your protein. I wouldn't postpone my attempt YET (you are lifting weights, right? You might want to add in an additional day of lifting along wtih increasing the sugar) because it may very well be that your overall body type is actually becoming more boy-friendly. I would like to see you stop losing at the very least and maybe gain a couple back before you try. November should be almost as good as October, no worries!!!

I actually have not been very good about the exercising. I don't have a gym to go to, and I have trouble motivating. I have only been doing arm weights and push ups about once a week  I will try harder, I will! I need to start swimming, too.

I would say (hopefully to motivate you! not trying to make you feel bad or guilty!) that it's ESPECIALLY important to lift weights if you find yourself losing weight on the Boy Diet because if you lift weights, you can help maintain that muscle mass and maybe even build some. Otherwise your body will burn both fat and muscle.

Okay. I will do more. Is it too late? I would O around October 10th-ish, if my cycles stay the same, which is about 2 months from now. If I don't lose any more, and I gain some by then, will it be okay? or should I push my attempt back? I really want to go for Oct.!

No, it's not too late at all.

I wouldn't push back my attempt yet, just redouble my efforts to hold where I'm at or even gain a couple pounds back while lifting weights.
