Vitamin d is necessary to maintain pregnancy and it is even thought by some that deficiency can cause miscarriage. I wouldn't mess around with it. Take supplements! I am and im ttc girl.

I had the same problem, my vit D levels were very low but I had time before actively TTC. What I did was take a high dose (4000IU) daily for a month, then I got my levels retested and luckily they were back in normal range. Then I stopped taking it and still had a few months off it before TTC. After failing to conceive last Winter/Spring, I went on sway break and resumed high dose vit D.

For me and many, vit D levels vary seasonally. In the spring, summer, and early fall my levels are on the low side of normal, it's only during the darkest months that my levels drop really low. Jan they are at their lowest. Unfortunately I want a fall baby so the months I'm TTC are Dec-Feb! But I'm hoping my heavy supplementation over the summer when I went on a sway break will keep my levels normal. So far, so good - I will report back on if that changes. I'm getting monthly blood tests.

My dr put me on a high dose for a couple months, and told me to take the regular daily dose plus calcium from now on. I wondering if i wasn't taking enough still, and may have been the reason i wasn't able to conceive for the 3 months we were trying. I know you can't take magnesium while taking vitamin d3 too, so i can't take the magnesium during my sway. I'm probably going to go in and have my levels tested again.

Oh, I should say...while I do think vit D sways boy, you can have high vit D levels (I know this for a fact; my mom has always had very high levels bc she is a redhead who is constantly in the sun) and still conceive a girl. And low vit D CAN impair conception. If you do the diet (with particular focus on limited saturated fats) for 3 months along with 60+ min of daily cardio exercise, and one attempt, I think your chances of getting a girl will still be high, even if you're taking vit D.

You need to do what you need to do for your health and well being. I would take the advised dose for at least the next month, possibly two, then switch to taking it 2-3 times a week as a maintenance dose.

Thanks atomic, i was hoping you would chime in. That sounds like a good plan.

Seabee if I recall you were doing a lot of sway tactics. I seriously doubt that your Vit. D was in any way the issue here.

I'm not appling the timing tactic this time around. With DH coming home after a long 7 months we will be BDing probably a couple times a day every day hahaha. I think that's actually the reason i didn't conceive before he left. I figure with the diet and supplements to keep my ph low should be enough that i don't need to worry so much about timing.

I think you need to rethink your sway plan. WE are getting 70% success with one attempt. That is NOT TIMING. I would much rather see you guys give it a try with one attempt but without timing and pH (which isn't working anyway)

One attempt as in BDing only once during ovulation?

Once during your fertile window.

I just checked my ovulation calender, and if he comes home the day he's supposed to.. That's my day of ovulation! So we should BD that one day and not do it again until my fertile window is gone?

That's it exactly seebeewife, you can BD once every 4 days, once in your fertile window only, it has great success for pink swayers :)

Your day of ovulation would be the last day of your fertile window (there has never been a confirmed pregnancy starting the day after ovulation).

Fertile window goes from O-3/4 through O day. BEst odds of conception come from BD on O-2 and O-1.

Could we do a backup method if he can't do the every 4 days thing? He thinks not BDing for 3 days is torture enough.

You can use a condom or pullout instead. The goal is just one unprotected attempt, not BD rounds. Have sex with protection however much you like.
