I'm so sorry you didn't hear girl. I know exactly your devastation right now as I went through it with DS2! I hope you have an understanding family to help you get through this time. I happen to love my GD son so so much and you will too. You just need time to grieve your dg dream. Sending hugs.

I posted on the other thread but at 14 weeks, with this one photo, I am not convinced. You may have gotten a better look live but this one shot could go either way IMO. 14 weeks is the absolute WORST time to go for an elective scan- that is WHY most reputable places say 15 weeks is the minimum!
Triangle protrusion can mean girl.

I think you didn't wait long enough for your gender scan hunni, girls can still look boyish at this stage, another week preferably two is a lot better for gender guessing x

Now I'm doubting the results... but my son's 3d scan was done even before, at 13 weeks, and it looked like a turtle. I had such a strong feeling this was a girl...

Both boys and girls look turtle at 13 weeks hun as they have both something protruding it's the angle so I would say your boy was defo lucky guess x

Prepare to hear definite boy in the later weeks now may help ease the disappointment, but at 14 weeks everything is still swollen and moving around. I dont want to give you false hope either just keep an open mind at this point in time. I hope they are wrong and you still get your girl!

Oh honey I am so sorry but I too think you should not be too upset just yet! Mrs incredible was told boy from her 12/13 week scan tech said there was a turtle after heaps of scans and blood tests confirm its VERY much a girl. Prepare yourself for boy but I would deft. Go back at 16 weeks for an elective or wait till your anatomy 20 week scan XX

As kitkat said, i had my scan at 12+4 and she looked but didn't print the potty shot. Classic turtle. She said it looked too far out to turn into a girl, then backtracked a bit saying it was still early. Me and dh were convinced and even came home to tell our boys we were pregnant and it looked like it was a little brother!! The eldest has always wanted a sister and i felt this stopped him hoping and immediately bonding with the baby as a brother. I had the harmony done for health of the baby peace of mind as i was 38. When the result came in saying healthy girl i was in shock. I was 99% convinced it was a boy. Good luck. I do think it was very early and if you can wait to 17 weeks, i had s rescan at 17 weeks after my 16 week gender scan (just to make sure!!) and a week does make a difference at this point.

Mrs _Incredible my scan was two weeks after yours though, I think by this time they should be able to tell, especially a 3d scan. With my first they told us even before, at 13 weeks! Thanks for trying to make me feel better, but I don't think that's the case with me.

I totally understand. If mine had been a boy I'd believe it was because i could tell in the 12th week, after all i saw a potty shot iykwim? I'd prepare for boy confirmation, but definitely get checked again 17+ weeks because it is still early and girls protrude too. Hugs xxx

They develop at different rates which is why most techs wont say 100% without blood confirmation until 21 weeks or later. I could have used the angle theory on my son and said girl up til almost 18 weeks! It may or may not have happened at this point just never know with each ones unique development. Do you have the 3D one to load up and maybe we can give you a better indicator?

I agree with NBP. Also, I thought ylu can't use 3D to detect gender, that it MUST be 2D ultrasound? Regardless I think it could very well be a girl. Fx for you.

Nahri- That is the only picture they gave us, honestly, I wasn't looking because I was too nervous! But DH said that was the only shot she got. I think the picture looks kind of blurry, but it does look like a little turtle :(

Charliecats from IG (an ultrasound tech) posted a sticky on their forum about why 14 weeks is literally the WORST time for gender scans. She even posted pictures of her own daughter looking like she had a penis at 14 weeks.
I am NOT saying that you shouldn't be prepared to hear that it's really a boy at a later scan, but I wouldn't put anything into this scan. According to the ultrasound techs on IG (and the few I know IRL,) 18-22 weeks gestation is the best time for an accurate potty shot in 2D only (3D can give weird images for gender.) After that, girl parts can become swollen and look like boy parts, and boy parts can get squished and hidden as space gets tighter in there.
Honestly, a 13 week nub shot would be more accurate than the 14 week potty shot. Good luck!

I just looked and it seems that that particular post was un-stickied. Wierd, since it had been there FOREVER. Here's some info though:
FAQ: MUST READ before posting in this forum! in Ultrasound Gender Prediction Forum (http://www.in-gender.com/forum/Thread.aspx?ID=43154)
Potty Shots for Gender?
If you imagine yourself sitting inside someones toilet and looking up. Someone comes and sits on the toilet, whilst you stare upwards. What do you see? Labia and thighs on girls, and scrotum/penis for boys. Toilet shots are used after 15 wks. Never before as the parts are too small, and both genders have nubs (aka mini-penises).
The Placenta Theory?
Here's the original, but it seems that the pics are now broken links :(
Why not to have a Gender Scan in the 14th week.... in Ultrasound Gender Prediction Forum (http://www.in-gender.com/forum/Thread.aspx?ID=63438)

Be careful and guard your heart. It could very well be another boy. All I'm saying is that I wouldn't be sure it's a boy based on a 14 week ultrasound. Personally, I never believe one before 18 weeks.

I wouldn't trust a potty shot scan at 14 weeks by any means, but that's me. I would still tell yourself it's likely a boy and don't get your hopes up too high, but 14 weeks is so early. I got told I was having a girl at 16 weeks with my second baby and he's all boy. After my experience, I won't trust a gender scan until 18 weeks bare minimum.
