I am having trouble getting all the protein into my diet for my blue sway. I am wondering what everyone else is eating for big boosts of protein? Can I have a protein shake or protein powder?

i have a hard time with this too, but my solution is: i cook about a pound of meat at the beginning of the week and use only that for the meals that i normally dont eat meat/protein with. so ill make like small hamberger patties or a meatloaf type dosh with a pound of ground beef, and weight out about 4oz for breakfast and lunch (unless there is other meat in my lunch like lunch meat, eggs). other sources of protein is nuts. i eat peanuts i know they are acidic and have lots of magnesium but i would trhow up if i had to eat meat ALL day long. i need some sort of break. beef jerkies, turkey bacon, hot/turkey dogs, lunch meat, eggs, larabars. those are my main sources. hth.

Thanks for the idea! I should make a pan of meatloaf to eat off of too. I eat a lot of beef jerky, which is probably full of soduim too. Are all nuts acidic, or just peanuts?

most nuts are i thnk. i THINK chestnuts are alkaline...i dont know i had trouble finding alkaline nuts. and i had trouble finding chestnuts too! so i just stuck with what i like. i figure ill counter the acidity in that with BSD, acv, lemon water, etc

I eat mixed nuts every day. For some reason i think it will help me get a boy ...maybe because I never eat any before? Or because owt says nuts=boys don't know...I looked at beef jerky today at the store but could not buy any. (yuck)

When I was ttc with DD4 I use to make my own (yep) some1 in the IG BC posted about it ( I think it was Mrand or mrend? wonder what happened to her?) anyway I made a lot and we eat that with DH. Was better the what you can get in the store.
But Im so sick of it don't want to eat any more.LOL

How did you make your beef jerky? I would love your recipe. It is so expensive to buy jerky!

I don't know about ya'll but I like just eating a spoon of peanut butter. :D

And I don't see why you couldn't have a protein shake! Lots of protein there!

I love beef jerky... when I was a teen before my first preg I ate a pack of jerky a day for several years. I miss it so much.

I have dehydrator to make jerky after swaying.... takes 18-24hr.

My dad makes it in his oven...
cut beef to 1/4-1/2 inch thick (thinner cooks faster but can also dry out faster)
marinate 8-12hrs...boy swayers - salt it to what you can handle, soy sauce, or a salty marinate.
put on an oven safe rack so the juices don't touch the meat and it can dry out
Lowest temp your oven will go, some go to 150 or 200
we put in the oven over night 8-12hrs or during the day if you want to watch it for just the right jerky
jerky will stay good for 6-12 mths depending on how you seal it or store it.

I think it's best to avoid the protein shakes/powder because they're kinda artificial and it's not certain how much of that protein your body even utilizes. Some people think that soy/whey proteins may even be bad for fertility.

I PROMISE that you can get a boy eating nuts every day. They are protein +carbs + healthy fats + nutrients and if you get salted nuts you're even getting some sodium. They are as close to a magic food as there is (even though there are no magic foods LOL)

Do you like deviled eggs? For some reason I can eat a lot of those, more than I can regular eggs.

I agree with Flava about the homemade beef jerky - that stuff is good!!!

Another possibilty is to make some roast or pulled pork and then keep it in BBQ sauce in the fridge, every time you want a sandwich just scoop some out and heat it in the microwave!!!

Oooo, love that idea!! Going to do that for sure. Obviously not for swaying now just for easy lunches!

Hobber I had some hot dogs I ate for quick protein! Also like others I did jerky, nuts, eggs, and nut butters.

Cheese, yoghurt, eggs, nuts, etc are all high in protein.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I really don't like eggs and I am scared to do dairy, so I will stick with the nuts and beef jerky. I like the pulled pork idea, too, and we always have hot dogs on hand! We also made a big ham the other day, which has been good for quick meals and snacks--and it was super salty!

I will try making my own beef jerky with that recipe too!
