View Full Version : Relactation Advice While Swaying Girl

I am 3dpo and am recovering from a HORRID stomach virus that left me dehydrated. I have been able to keep about 32oz of water down so far this morning. I nurse my 17mo old about 4-6 times a day. Since after my third round of vomiting last night, my milk supply feels gone. My LO sucks and sucks, but nothing comes out. He is still willing to try every 3 hours, and I may add a pumping session after he goes down for the night. My question is now that I am on the mend, will nursing teas, fenugreek, or goats rue hurt my sway? Last time this happened with DS1, I did the above with eating oatmeal. I am hesitant to eat oatmeal, since it is not recommended for swaying girl. What can I eat/ take that will bring my supply back without hurting my sway? At least I have the decline in maternal condition in my favor 😉.
Thanks!

I think just trying to keep topping up your fluids is the best advice, plus if you get a good nights sleep tonight then that should help aswell. Maybe try and drink as much water as possible before bed so that in can top you up for tomorrow and keep letting little one nurse when they want so the demand message is still being sent to your body :)

I am going to let him suck as often as he wants. Instead of Gatorade, I am drinking a wonderful coconut water that is very tasty, called Real Coco along with water. Yeah I am definitely resting when DS2 naps!

Just keep nursing him as much as he wants. I think it's much better for restoring lactation anyway. I suspect your supply will be back by tomorrow without using any of the herbs.
I am a little hesitant for you to start a bunch of herbs and oats on a sick tummy anyway. I think you'd run the risk of making yourself ill if you did that.

Agree and I agree with ELP that nursing, rest and hydration is what really gets it done.
(you can trust us, between the two of us we have nursed more babies than anyone except possibly Mama Duggar!)
