View Full Version : Is my sway rubbish?

What is your decided sway?
I think I'm going for more of a light sway, because I'm just worried about messing up ovulation.
I just can't decide what's best to do though.
I'm going to lose weight, but I'm gonna try to lose it in a healthier way as I don't really want to do too many things that will affect ovulation. I would like to lose a stone.
I'm going to have 2 cups of peppermint tea a day AF - OV. I will take folic acid & maybe fiber.
My husband is going to take LR & maybe OLE. I am a bit nervous about him taking it, because of the essay I read here on LR. But I "feel" it's important for him to make some changes too, as I do still think the sperm has a lot to do with it. He was going to give up caffeine, but I read on here that coffee can sway girl so he's switched his daily cups of tea to coffee.
Now DTD...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've gathered on here that abstaining isn't working anymore. So we will probably DTD with protection or he can FR & we will do a one attempt on OPK+ this makes me a bit nervous, as I did multiple attempts with my boys & I can't imagine doing just one attempt but we'll see... It took me 4/5 months to get pregnant with my boys. I will probably J&D after a few minutes. I may also take an antihistamine an hour before BD. My husband will probably have a hot bath beforehand too.
Will make sure my PH stays at 4, I won't do it a lot though as I've heard too much can raise testosterone.
I'm going to skip breakfast everyday. I won't eat red meant & limit chicken.
My sway probably seems a bit rubbish but I feel a lighter sway is best for me. But after a couple of months of research, I have decided a "lighter sway" is better for me.
If any of my info is wrong, please correct me & if you have any other suggestions please say.
Thank you

I honestly wouldn't worry too much about pH. I would also do the peppermint tea a couple of days before ovulation. Remember a light sway you're still in with a good chance so the changes you've made with your cutting out on meat and cutting out breakfast is good. Just out if interest which antihistamines are you using? Good luck! x

abstain may help a little bit but it just doesn't get the results to justify the trouble it causes. same with FR though. If we did a study in like 1000 couples, I suspect we'd see that both abstain and FR might sway a little bit pink, but we have to balance it against the amount they cut odds of conception (a lot for some people), the difficulty/stress inherent in including them (considerable), and the amount of trouble it causes with DH (varies). Compare this to the one attempt which is getting outstanding and consistent results and there is just no comparison between the two. So why not just focus on that which is really swaying strongly (one attempt) and let go of the stuff which is overly complex/stressful and isn't working reliably?
I promise you it is absolutely, completely, and totally possible to get pregnant from one attempt. There are tens to hundreds of millions of sperm in each ejaculation and it's more than enough to impregnante a small army of women!!
pH of 4 is too low for pregnancy and is largely unattainable anyway.

Thank you both! Feel a lot happier with my sway now. I will definitely be doing the one attempt, so if we happen to dtd before we'll use protection. Is jump & dump good after five minutes or so...or not at all? And do I dtd once I've had a strong postive on OPK? Haven't used them before.
Once again...THANK YOU!!

I haven't started TTC yet so I haven't looked into antihistamines. I read it can dry up CM before DTD & can increase chances of a girl. Having said that, im not sure if it's relatively safe? Anything, that's not pretty safe I worry about - hence the Licorice root...but I want my husband to do something & and he wants to too!

antihistamines prior to ovulation are perfectly safe.

DTD at first positive even if you have a darker one later on.
JUmp and dump is at your discretion. Some do it right away and others wait 15-30 min. I came up with the 5 min. as a compromise between conception and still swaying pink.

If you want the strongest pink sway without risk of affecting or losing O, I recommend you do the LE diet - vegetarian, and strictly in terms of keeping protein and ESPECIALLY fat low, but eat just enough cals that you maintain your weight. I'd avoid the pep tea as that can screw with O and isn't nearly as strong a sway tactic as diet. As for BD, maybe BD every 4 days is a better option than just once at positive OPK. I'd only use antihistamines if you have lots of EWCM on BD days.
I know dieting sucks, but it IS the strongest sway factor and as tempting as it is to just do the easy tactics (like supplements, pep tea, BD, antihistamines etc), those sways are less effective. So while I wouldn't call your sway rubbish, I do urge you to focus on the diet - low protein/fat & high carb and no snacking, along with skipping breakfast. Weight loss isn't necessary for a pink sway, it's what and how you eat that is essential IMO.

I was worried the diet would affect ovulation. I'm just worried about messing up ovulation as it takes me 4/5 months to get pregnant anyway, which I know really isn't that long. But with swaying, it could add on months & months, and although I really want a girl I also want a baby. I can't decide what to do... If one attempt is getting the best results maybe I should stick to that. Maybe I'd have got pregnant quicker before if I had use OPK & knew when I ovulated, or maybe a one attempt could take even longer!!
And what about DH... Should he do the LR or OLE or both??!

I want to lose some weight regardless. I'm 11st atm and would like to be 10st before getting pregnant as I don't want added baby weight to what I am now...not that I'm big, I'm a slim size 12 (although some might that is big) - but would prefer to be 10st before pregnancy.

Can anyone help on my last Q's? Thanks

It takes me more than 1 day to get back to people normally *except custom swayers* so please don't expect a quick response from me. I do my best to stay up to date on all q's but please give it 3-4 days. Honestly I am not really seeing any questions. I have already told you I can't tell you what to give your husband because I don't know anything about his medical history, etc. You have to decide these things, I can't do it for you.
Just because it has historically taken 4-5 months doesn't mean it will this time. You only have 2 kids, that is not a trend. there are no trends when it comes to TTC because your cycle can and does change dramatically. It is like saying because WW 1 and WW 2 both lasted 4-5 years that all wars in the future will also last 4-5 years (sorry I know that is a terrible analogy and not even historically accurate but my point stands) Tons of factors affect how long wars last and also how your cycle goes and they are different every time.
I promise that anyone can get pg with one attempt. It is absolutely a huge step in the wrong direction to add attempts based on an incorrect belief that you can't get pregnant with one attempt.

If you don't lose a lot of weight, I wouldn't worry about losing O. And as I said, you can certainly do the diet without losing weight - many do, and still get girls. The worst outcome I can see from doing the diet is O being delayed by a few days to a week. That happens a fair bit with pink swayers, though not all.
It's also possible to lose a lot of weight and still keep O. My BMI has fluctuated between 14-19 BMI and I've never lost O, bc I have a healthy percentage of body fat that's high for my build. Even with extreme caloric restriction and/or 2-3 hours of exercise daily including lomg distance running, I kept O. My body fat never drops below 16%. So really, how sensitive you are to losing O depends more on your body's makeup than simple weight loss.
5 of the 6 times I've conceived I was trying to avoid pregnancy and just one attempt in my fertile period (if not days before) was how I conceived. As long as the attempt is at least a day in advance of O, you can easily conceive from just one attempt.

Thank you both for your time. It's all just stressing me out a bit & I'm not very good at making decisions. I'm struggling at the moment, at the concept of never having a daughter, and I'm trying to get my sway together for New Year. Thank you for your advice.

OK when you have a hard time making decisions, then flip a coin or put options in a bag and pull them out. I'm not kidding about this, I really mean it. None of these things are in any way magic bullets, most of them we don't even know what is best anyway (keep the one attempt though!)
Sittting around stressing, obsessing, debating, pros and cons of things that probably don't even matter much anyway, does way more to sway blue than these minute differences ever could. :)

You're right, all this stress isn't going to do any good. I need to stop researching now, and stick to what I have decided on.
Thank you
