I was a big meat eater, but since swaying have pretty much cut it out. I had a BBQ today, and I told them I would prefer fish, but they said the fish didn't look good so they picked up some steak. It was really the only thing they had to eat, and since this dang girl diet doesn't really allow me to eat, i was starving.

So anyway, did any of you girl moms eat meat before getting pregnant?

No, I don't each much meat at all really and have two girls! I figured that was why lol. This diet is going to be hard as I don't like steak or much red meat.

Thanks ladies! I keep trying to keep it out of my diet, but it keeps being served to me, and I don't have any other options of food, and since I don't eat all day, I am so hungry I can't turn it down.

I had buffalo two weeks ago, and steak yesterday, and pork over the weekend, and now I am freaking out that my sway is ruined.

I also wanted to add when I got pregnant with my son, I was eating a ton of meat. Every kind for every day of the week. I was a vegetarian for years so I think i was making up for it! ;)

kasey - I don't know if this will help in your situation, but I've started bringing veggie burgers with me to BBQs and explain to people that I'm 'off meat' right now. I've known lots of people who had a stomach bug or food poisoning from meat then couldn't bring themselves to eat it again for a while - I let people believe that's what happened to me.

I eat meat just about every day and I have a girl! But I do prefer chicken, fish, or sometimes pork over beef. Would have beef maybe once or twice a week.

My mom did eat meat but she was kinda hit and miss on it. She would skip breakfast, eat the kid's size hot lunch at school (so a little meat for lunch but nothing like a regular portion) and along with that lunch she would drink the 1/2 cup of milk because she wanted to set an example for the kids, and that was the only milk she ever ate or drank. (sorry I know that was a tangent but I just remembered that!!!) She never ever snacked. Then she would have dinner which was always pasta or a casserole. A couple times a week that was totally vegetarian because we'd have mac and cheese and spaghetti with no meat, for two of the 7 days a week. And two of the other days were tuna casserole and crab salad, and one day was always pork chops and some weeks we would have chicken and some weeks not. So at the very most she was having red meat only a few times a week.

I had all kinds of meat every.single.day for lunch and dinner. Beef (mostly), pork, chicken, venison, everything! I usually skipped breakfast or ate some fruit. So, yep!! I've got 2 pretty girls :D

One of my closest friends has 2 little girls...she eats beef and chicken about 5 days a week. She's also quite slender and eats no breakfast. Snacks quite a bit on very sweet stuff like bite size halloween candies or slurpies. She also eats a lot of ice cream:)

I ate some form of meat at dinner every night, although not much red meat because my DH at the time had IBS and red meat set him off. So, lots of chicken, pork, fish- but no salmon as I used to hate it, just white fish like tilapia or flounder. But, I really think my lack of eating was what made me so girl-friendly, because I would just have a huge coffee in the morning, go to the gym for 2 hours, then have a muscle milk drink or something, eat a tiny bit of lunch, then have a healthy low sodium dinner (my ex was insane about food being not greasy, not salty, etc and very lean....also about me not having an ounce of fat on my body, ugh). But I did not eat very much red meat.

I was always eating meat and got 4 DD . But most of the time chicken then pork and a little beef and fish only sometimes.
But I did eat lots of beef when ttc #4 so I don't know...maybe meat just not working for me?
Or because I was never big on snack and breakfast. (did eat breakfast with DD4 but it was the damn rice krispie:mad:)
So i try to eat meat every day now anyway and also taking gelatin. Hope it will work this time!

I really think the no snack/no breakfast is a powerful thing!!!

My sons keep asking why I never make Rice Krispie treats any more (I used to make them all the time) and it's because I get pissed every time I look at Rice Krispies now!!! :)

I ate Rice Krispies- are they not OK? I always ate dates about an 1 hour later, and then a banana. I was eating a lot!

Yeah, I saw that in your sway and I winced but I figured it was done!!! I don't love the Rice Krispies, because the advice is to eat them with either unfortified rice milk or else non-dairy creamer, so it is basically 1000% pure simple carbs (and in the case of the non-dairy creamer, food-like chemistry) that cause your blood sugar to rise sky high and then crash. Plus it's basically empty calories that don't do a thing to help your sway.

A lot of girl moms tend to not eat a lot just from habit, and the other site does not emphasize snacking like I do, so then they don't eat again until lunchtime, and their blood sugar is in the toilet that whole entire time. Terrible for TTC blue. But, if you either eat meat with your Rice Krispies or else eat again very shortly afterwards like you're describing, it may have been mitigated to a certain extent (hopefully totally mitigated.)

Protein + carbs at every meal and snack for blue. Complex carbs are always better.

The only thing I can say in a response- is it was a HUGE bowl of RK and I always had pineapple juice with gelatin- 1 full pack (so protein). I was eating so much I was so full. I can understand the empty carb thing- but if I am trying to watch mineral content- which I know you don't emphasize as much, most cereals contain too much magnesium. Ideally, I would have eaten bacon and eggwhites, but I really don't like the mess nor waking up early to do so (plus the expense). I also did eat dates (4 or so- about 1.5 later) and bananas (1 large about 3 hours later), and the occasional piece of lunch meat before lunch. I never went hungry- but felt like I was always eating in the morning.

Just the shear volume of food was difficult, but I thought combining the gelatin was the protein side of my meal.

I understand totally and please understand I am not trying to pick apart your sway in any way, I just don't think it's the way to go (honestly I don't find bacon and eggwhite much better.) and since you asked, I thought I ought to answer!! :) I'm glad you were doing things to mitigate it. :agree:

If this helps, I had a mostly boy friendly and some girl friendly habits with both of my boys, but because my body seems to like producing high amounts of testosterone for fun (I'd really like to stop growing a mustache please!), maybe it isn't a surprise I had boys. I know you were asking about girl moms who had boy friendly diets, but thought I'd share what I was doing when I conceived both of my sons.

I always skipped breakfast and took 1200mg of calcium. With my first son, I was taking a diet pill when ephedrine was still legal in the US. Ephedrine and pseudoephedrine are possible girl sway things since they tend to dry up CM, right?

what I ate was/is mostly boy friendly: I would usually only eat one meal a day and it would be under or around 1200 calories (maybe that's more girl friendly). That one meal was always healthy and mostly protein: think eggs and beans, steak and roasted vegetables, broccoli, green leaf lettuce, cheese, plain yogurt, etc.

I had an average to slightly sodium intake (salad dressing and food seasonings) and that would not be girl friendly.

If I ate carbohydrates, they would be whole wheat only and in very limited portions. I did not eat rice or anything else, much to the dismay of my husband whose culture basically serves rice with every meal. I drank (and drink) only, no caffeine, no alcohol, and definitely nothing sugary.

Neither of my pregnancies were planned, though, so I can't tell you what my pH was, but it was probably rather balanced, if not slightly alkaline.
