Hi,

As I mentioned on my introduction I am a long time lurker, hoping to conceive a boy on our third and final try.

I am 42 years old

I am currently taking per day:

Wheatgrass tabs 2,000mg
Fish Oil 3,000mg
Probiotic tabs (10 billion active cells) 1 tablet
Maca 1,500mg
Royal Jelly 2,400mg
Vitamin D3 50mcg (2,000IU)
Folic Acid 2,200mg
Womens-one-a-day 1 tablet
Greens Powder 3teaspoons
Bee Pollen 1 teaspoon

I would like to know when/how to stop or wean myself off these if I get a BFP

My husband won't take anything to help sway as he doesn't really believe in swaying and he would love another girl anyway

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thank You

For my blue swayers I personally prefer that you stick with only the supps that are safe in pregancy anyway.

I would wean off royal jelly, bee pollen, and maca IMMEDIATELY and not resume taking them. I do not believe they're safe and neither are they proven to sway blue.

Fish oil should be no more than 1000 mg. Wean back right away over the course of the next couple weeks. IT's not safe and you may undermine your sway taking that much, because high doses of fish oil can lower cholesterol and inadvertently sway pink.

Pick either the wheatgrass or the greens powder (and personally I prefer wheatgrass because the greens powder has some crap in it that isn't safe and may sway pink), don't use both. You're going to end up getting too much Vit. A taking all that. IF you do continue with greens powder, I would reduce to 1 tsp per day.

Vit. D should be around 1000 unless you have deficiency, if your pills are just that dose, take every other day instead of daily. Vit. D is stored in your fat and we don't want you to store up an excess, may be harmful to baby.

So basically what I'd have you take is:

The folic (if you can get folate, that's even better)
1 a day
1000 or thereabouts Vit. D
Probiotic
1000 mg fish oil
Wheatgrass or greens powder in lower amount

I would also have you add in 100 mg ubiquinol, may help with egg quality

Thank you so much atomic sagebrush for the information.

We were planning to start trying today, during my fertile, do you think we hold off until I have weaned off the supps you suggested?

No, go ahead and start TTC now, at 42 we don't have the luxury of time on our side!

Good luck!! I know several gals who got boys at 42!

Question Regarding the Supplements: How soon before conceiving shall I be starting the supplements?

At least 6 weeks but you can start as soon as you want :) I personally think the sooner the better.

I was going to post almost exactly what atomic did! I COMPLETELY agree about maca, royal jelly, and bee pollen, in particular. I don't think anyone should be taking those supps & think they're a scam/rip-off/over-hyped/waste of money. I also think it's best not to overdo it on concentrated greens/extract; personally I'd just eat 1-2 servings of dark green leafy veg daily. I find getting nutrients from whole foods generally superior and safer to taking supplements.

However, I had never heard that fish oil above 1000mg daily is unsafe or that it lowers cholesterol (though that would be great for me as I have high cholesterol genetically). Some psychiatrists recommend taking it in very high doses (up to 30g daily!) for mental disorders and pre-swaying I took 3g daily, and I've always thought 1000mg/1g daily was a suboptimal dose for most people considering modern Western diets are so high in omega 6 fatty acids. I would love to hear your thoughts on this atomic and maybe you can link me to the cholesterol research or provide the approximate study year so I can search myself on pubmed.

Question Regarding the Supplements: How soon before conceiving shall I be starting the supplements?

6 weeks at minimum, but nearly all the blue supps ~I~ recommend are safe indefinitely.

Please be careful though because other sides do recommend some things that are NOT safe to take indefinitely and you need to limit your exposure to them

Probiotic Tablets - is it okay to take Probiotic Multi Enzymes?

For pink or blue or during pregnancy?

For pink - no.

For blue - yes.

during pregnancy - I would ask a doctor because there are a couple things in there that I am a bit skeeved out by and not sure are safe in pg.

For Blue

I started Centrum Multivitamin, Probiotic, Green Tea, and waiting for Wheatgrass tablets to arrive. Also taking DHA (plant based) and Folic Acid as per doctor's suggesion. I will definitely be continuing with Multivitamin, FA and DHA during pregnancy and will confirm the other ones with the doctor first.

Thank You so much :)
