View Full Version : +OPK? To "Dance" or Not to Dance...That is the Question

Hi ladies,
I had a DNC a few months ago and hubby and I are still trying. I got this OPK and I'm not sure if this is a positive or not. Went to the bathroom and wiped and had the icky sticky come out. Used the urine to test and now look at my test. Should we give it a go tonight? Need to know if this is a positive or if I should wait for a darker positive in the morning. Hubby leaves town tomorrow afternoon so trying not to go into panic mode but we could get one in tomorrow morning if this isn't it. If someone can tell me if this is a positive Wondfo that'd be great! First pic is farther away the second one I zoomed up. Forgot to mention that I forgot to test this morning like a dork! So I can't compare it with this afternoon's. These were taken this afternoon around 2:00. Thanks!23341 23342

Me personally - my test line got darker than this one so I would say this is possibly a negative but it depends on how yours have looked before. Have you gotten what you've known is a positive with these before that looked like this?

This was my first time using it. I thought maybe I should test again tonight at 6 and see what it does. If it's not dark I was going to test again tomorrow morning at 6am and see how it looks. If it's dark I can BD. My hubby leaves town tomorrow for work so I'm a little nervous I'll get the dark line while he's away. Then I won't be able to BD until Wednesday

Not quite positive but soooooo close. When was your last attempt? Are you doing every 4 days?

Hi Anchor. No we haven't done every four days. We're swaying girl and doing the one attempt. I tried the every 4 days thing a few months ago and it didn't work. We were doing one attempt at +OPK.

I think the difference between DTD tonight or tomorrow is minimal. Toss a coin! You're "Martha"-sessing LOL.

I think you're right. What if I get the dark line Tuesday afternoon though? I won't see him until Wednesday evening in order to BD. Wouldn't it be too late?

If you BD tonight and get a +OPK, you are still in with one attempt and a good shot. Pregnancies are most likely to occur when BDing at o-2 and o-1. It's a good attempt.

I'm confused. So are you saying I should BD tonight no matter what or wait until he returns when I'm sure to have the +OPK?

So I tested again this evening at 6 pm and the line is definitely darker than it was at 2 pm. Any thoughts about dtd tonight? Or is the some weird time of day thing going on? Here's a pic of the 6pm. I'd say it's positive, certainly more than the 2 pm one...http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/01/26/09f12c83e8270cdc68482b8fee51c9e0.jpg

I dipped it twice just to make sure I wasn't seeing things. They both look positive to me...I'm wondering if this means go for it now since it's darker than the afternoon one http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/01/26/6d1dcce79f880208237449a0780c8fe1.jpg

Kitbedit a positive OPK means you will ovulate within 24-48 hours....with some tests it's within 12-48 hours.
Update: Hubby and I BD last night and finished around 11:30. I had all of the signs of O yesterday. I had mild cramping the day before, I had the thick stretchy CM earlier yesterday too. My body was telling me it was coming so after I tested yesterday at 6pm and it came out dark we went for it. Hopefully we didn't BD too early and I can enjoy a BFP this time...

Thanks Mamaluv.
Our OPKs looked the same exactly around same time !
but we aren't TTC until March or April.
Good luck. Hope you get your BFP!

Thanks Anchor! The surge came quick. 2pm it was almost there. 6pm it was definitely dark! Hubby and I DTD 11:30pm last night and he left town this morning. I tested again this morning at 10am (my normal time) to make sure it wasn't some weird timing thing going on where I was getting a false positive for testing at a different time. Sure enough it was another positive so I caught my +OPK early and just in time to BD before he left town. I'm in the 2ww now and waiting for the good news!

It is close enough for attempt. There is nothing magic about waiting for the true pos, we are just trying to be in wiht attempt ahead of the egg, but not TOO far ahead.

I tested 3x yesterday and once this morning and I got a dark like very quickly on all( def positive).
For how many days does a Positive last? Does it show up positive on ovulation day itself too?
Do you attempt at first sign of def positive?

Kit I always BD at the first sign of OPK (usually a couple of hours later because I've often gotten my positive when I couldn't BD right away). If you test on O day it will probably still come out a dark line. That's my guess. I've never tried it though.

It varies by person, by month. It's just however long it takes your body to clear the hormone. You will ovulate average 24-36 hours after the FIRST positive, not the darkest. Plan your attempt based on first positive.

UPDATE: Well ladies, I got a BFP on a digital yesterday and a really faint line on a FRER. The faint line naturally worried me. Unfortunately the same day, just a few minutes later I started bleeding heavily. It occurred right around the time of my period so I am pretty confident that this was a CP.

Keep testing. You can have bleeding in early pregnancy and still be pregnant. I had what I thought was a period, lasted 5 days and was heavier than a normal period and I was pg the entire time with a happy healthy baby who is now 5 yrs old.

Really atomic? Did your pregnancy test get darker? How often should I test and what should I be looking for with the test line? The bleeding is much like a period and it's starting out pretty heavy. I'm going to the doctor next week so they can check me also.

I never tested. I had the bleeding and assumed that it was AF and I wasn't pregnant and (huge regrets over this) started back in with a sway diet and super high dose of Vitex for 2 weeks. I did do a pg test that was super duper dark but it was well after the bleeding had ended. When I went in for an ultrasound I was 3 1/2 weeks further along than I should have been and I had started off with two pregnancies and ended up with only one, and it was also placenta previa. No one knows if the bleeding was from the placenta previa or the vanishing twin. Either is a possibility and I know of several women who had what seemed like AF and remained pregnant.

Thanks Atomic. I tested this morning and it was super light. Lighter than the first time and arguably not there. I'll be at the doctor this week. I feel like they're just going to give me another pregnancy test, tell me it's negative and send me home. I kind of wish they'd do an ultra sound so they can see what's going on in there

They can't see anything though. This is one of those cases where they are unhelpful typically because they can't help and doctors are not great with their bedside manner when they are not able to do anything to assist. :(

re lightness of tests - Obviously not what you want to see, but at the same time this early on it's possible to just have more dilute urine (even if it seems MORE concentrated, it's all about the level of hormones in the pee and not necessarily how dark the urine is) Prepare for the worst but still don't go out binge drinking or anything like that. (((hugs)))

Thank you atomic. I'm kind've sad but I just have to try again. Since the bleeding started at the time of my period is it likely that I'll still ovulate on time? If so, another attempt is right around the corner

Yes it's very likely.
Be sure to take one more test in a couple days just to be sure you're really not preggo and don't start any hormonal supps till then. (((hugs)))
