View Full Version : Temping after HT cycle

Looks like AF is on her way, which I'm surprised by since I'm only 2 days off the Crinone, but the sooner it gets here the sooner I can get to TTC again!
Has anyone had any experience with starting up temping after a failed HT cycle? In my case, a failed FET attempt? Technically this is a breakthrough bleed, not a true period, since I was suppressed with bcp and Lupron. I'm really really hoping my ovulation isn't delayed.
Has anyone else started temping again right after a failed HT cycle? Should I expect things to be erratic, or is it still useful to temp? How long did it take for your ovulation to resume, did it resume immediately or was there some delay?

Can't really offer any advice on this one, Lace, but I am sorry your FET didn't work out [emoji20].
On second thought, I would say temp anyway that way you have something to compare to as you go on, if you don't conceive right away. I think since you have charted before, you'll start to see a pattern eventually.
GL! I sure hope you get a sticky pink BFP soon!

Really sorry to see you back here Lace, but so pleased that you are trying to move on it sure helped me having a plan.
Anyway after all my failed cycles I started bleeding within a few days after stopping all meds too. After about 4 weeks I'd ovulate then 2 weeks later I'd have a proper bleed. Then my cycles more or less got back to normal after that. I did notice that my AF got shorter the more ht cycles I did but I honestly think that's due to my age rather than ivf though. So within 6 weeks I'd be back to normal. Good luck Hun xxx

Frilly that helps, thanks!
This bleed seems a little reluctant to actually start, I was having very light flow yesterday evening but then tapered to spotting overnight, but I'm expecting it to be pretty heavy when it comes for real considering my lining at the last scan.
I'm pretty happy to be moving on though, no more scans or appointments or $$$ and things in my control for awhile is very nice!!

Yes my first bleed was very very heavy when it got going.
Once I decided to finally move on it was like a fog had lifted and I felt free from it all. Saying that if I won the lottery I'd be stupid enough to give it another go! I'm feeling a little down with swaying atm, I just need to know I've tried everything so I can move on. X

Yah it really would be a different story if money wasn't an issue, wouldn't it? Though for me we'd budgeted a lifetime limit of 2 fresh and 3 FET cycles and for sure my emotional stamina won't even last as long as that.
I have great admiration for you for sticking out 5 HT cycles Frilly! You're a strong lady. I'm so sorry that none of those cycles stuck. :( I'm not strong enough to try that many times, heck I think we might well be done after just this one full cycle. But then we really want another baby and a baby boy is just fine, so maybe our mindset is a little different from others in that way. I feel like all the time 'stuck' in the proceedings of an HT cycle is yet more time I'm losing not trying on our own.

No advice, just (((Hugs))).
I agree that you should just start temping and look for a pattern to arise.

:) Thanks, Atomic. I'm glad AF showed so fast, I was getting real tired of limbo-land.
OTOH, cramps are showing up and man the witch is gonna be a BITCH this week! Two advil and it's barely touching it. Urgh.
I also dropped my omega 3 and swapped plain folic acid for prenatals today so swaying starts now!

humor me and wean off the omega 3's , pretty please? They're blood thinners and I don't like you guys stopping and starting blood thinners suddenly, esp. when we've been messing with ye olde hormone levels. :)

Oh ok np. What's the recommended pace to wean off the omega 3?

I saw in another thread you were taking 3000 mg so I would drop to 1000 right now, take daily for a week, then start spacing the doses further and further out (so 1st week every other day, then every 2 days, then one a week in the 4th week, then drop)

Great, thanks! That was in line with what I was thinking. Fx that weaning like that will still help my sway.

:) Well, if you're dead, you can't sway, so yes, yes it will. :cheer:

Hah! Minor details. ;)
And is dropping omega3 too quickly really THAT risky? Wow, I had no idea.

I think it is (not just omega 3 but all blood thinners) and believe that within the next 5-10 years it's going to be revealed as such.

OMG and to think I was on a high dose of omega 3 and clexane, and I just stopped them after my bfn. It doesn't bare thinking about!

Most people can withstand it (after all, if it was super obvious the doctors would have figured it out by now) - but some can't! Especially after having been on supplemental estrogen (which can make your blood "clottier") I just think it's best for you gals to wean off it.
Not trying to scare anybody, I just want you to be safe! :)

I haven't done IVF but I do O on hormonal BC (combined pills, progestin only pills, the patch, the ring...I O on all of them so they are not so effective!). And I do get a normal biphasic pattern on BC, though my temps are usually higher overall and just different. My LP is even shorter than my naturally short LP, too. So I agree you should chart! It cant hurt to have more data.
I'm so sorry your embie didn't make it. Big hugs! I hope swaying works out though. When will you start TTC?

Thanks, maiden. :)
I hope swaying works too, but I won't be sad to have another beautiful baby boy either. I just want to get preggo again! We're starting as soon as I can pop an egg!
Right now I'm not on any meds at all except the Metformin and baby aspirin. No bc or anything. I need to get ttc asap with hubby due to leave on course in Aug.
