Hi ladies so I am going to start the diet, I don't want to ttc until summer. I NEED to lose these nasty 35 pounds left over from my pregnancy last year. I'm 155 and want to get down to 120! So I did it before so it's not hard for me to lose weight.
It's just this time around, I want to be on a diet where it's going to help me have a girl.
Will the yearly membership give me more info on the LE Diet?

Are we suppose to not eat a lot of bread and pasta? I'm just confused lol

I usually cook at home for the kiddos, but now I will mostly eat sides of rice etc and chicken. My husband is also losing weight with me so we want to eat more chicken. I want to cut out as much red meat as possible.

I plan on taking baby asprin only and adding equal to my coffee and crystal light. Is that good? I might go on birth control until June also.

Would love to know what else everyone else is doing.

Yes the dream member section has a lot more info on the LE diet. But the main things to get started would be to get my fitness pal. Aim to keep calories between 1500-1800 depending on height and amount of weight to lose, keep protein between 40-50 g and fat at 20-30%.

That is why most people go veggie as eating meat will quickly put you close to your protein target.

I don't think baby aspirin is recommended any more

Yay I love my fitness pal! Sounds good
You think I can eat Special K bars and oatmeal, it's something I like to eat especially when trying to loose weight.
I'm going to join now because I need to know the limit of protein etc

Best to avoid oats as much as possible if not completely as they are one of the few foods that sway strongly blue (the others are red meat, fatty fish and fortified cereal). Bars are okay but ONLY if they don't have added vitamins/nutrients.

I find I miss oats by far the most since I started my pink sway, sigh. They were a big staple before, especially granola bars. Boxed cereal is a very close second.

I miss cereal a lot too!! Used to be my favourite snack. :( hah and no wonder I have boys, I loved oatmeal so much.

I still have the occasional granola bar as a dessert treat. Not everyday, but when I have a craving! As Atomic said, just remember the 80/20 rule......be 'good' 80% of the time and don't worry about the rest. As long as you aren't having big bowls of porridge daily then the occasional granola bar won't make a diff.

I miss my oatmeal, granola, and boxed cereals! No wonder why I have 2 boys! These were such a staple in my diet before! Next month I'll have been on the LE diet for a year![emoji50]! I have since switched to a slightly lesser version of Atomic's fertility diet!

The hardest thing is when you are around friends and family. I am at my parents house for the weekend, my mam has cooked me my favourite dinner and baked a cake for later. She loves baking and you cannot stop her when one of her daughters is home. I think I just have to go with the flow and not stress out about it

It's hard because I cook a lot, and I can't afford to cook two meals a day.
Today we have to go for dinner for my husbands niece is making conformation.
But I think their Having eggplant parm, so I'll just have that.

Are you ladies NOT eating meat at ALL? I don't know how I'm suppose to do that!
This is stressful I'm glad I have till July to ttc lol

I find jelly sweets or marshmallows good if you need to bring up your calories for the day and are much better for pink then chocolate or cake for your sugar fix

I have red meat once a month to prevent anemia. Otherwise I'm usually completely vegetarian. Maybe 2x a month I have a few bites of chicken. I think being vegetarian is very important. Why not just cook vegetarian for the whole family? Or just pick out the meat/only eat side dishes?

You can have coffee drinks with any kind of milk, provided it's WITH a meal, not a snack, and fits into your daily totals.

You can have sweet treats as long as they fit into your totals. I do eat cake and cookies sometimes, but I avoid dark chocolate. Lately I've been eating fruit & nut bars (like Larabars) to satisfy my sweet tooth. Or low fat pudding.

I have not ate any type of meat or fish since I was 12 years old. I started transitioning to vegetarian when I was 8 due to a digestive intolerance to red meat

White or milk chocolate if you fit it into your totals is okay. And dark choc on occasion just not daily.

Do I need to take fiber?
Or any supplements? If I'm not ttc until July, I want to be on the diet long and lose weight.

I'm not sure how to take baby asprin

re bread and pasta - most people do up intake of carbs, but since you have a fair bit of weight to lose I'd keep that to a dull roar for now till some of the weight has gone. Many find they lose more easily without too many white carbs.

The most important thing is to stick within limits for the day and in the DM section you'll see a thread called "Best-Worst Food Guide" that will help you a lot.

Answered re chicken in other thread

RE artificial sweeteener - it is at your discretion but I do not recommend anything more than the FDA approved amount of 2-3 servings per day. It is not very effective at all, I have seen people get boys with frightening amounts of the stuff and since it doens't work well, please keep it safe and sane.

I'd keep it to a minimum but the bars are ok now and then when you're on the go. I'd skip oatmeal itself tho.

You can have chocolate and cake on LE Diet within reason.

The only people who can NOT ever have it is those who are on the alternate diets because of severe PCOS and can't tolerate the sugar. but most people can have it now and then even on the alternate diets.

I can't give individual recommendations on supplements without a sway plan, there are too many variables.

MOst people should use some fiber, it really does seem to help a bit.

In my signature there is a link to the Complete Index which is all the essays together in one place in alphabetical order and they will really help.

With baby aspirin, I am moving away from using that because there are risks and the results were not good enough to justify continuing it. Some peopel still want to use it and that's ok. there is a whole essay in the index on how to use aspirin.

A lot of people prefer jellies or marshmallows on standard LE diet! :) they are just empty cals without much else going on.

You can still have other things too if they fit in your limits.

Please look in the Complete Index, it will really help.

Types of milk vary depending on an individual's health needs. I used rice milk. Some people use skim dairy, others use full fat dairy because it is better for blood sugar and fertility, but may be somewhat blue friendly.

What you need to understand is it's not about the "Right or wrong" foods, it's about lowering your overall fertility and nutrient intake, and blood sugar. So you need to choose the foods that can best help you do that.

I didn't eat much meat when I got my daughter nor much dairy either..

White and milk chocolate are fine, dark choc is prob. ideally avoided but if a little sneaks into your mouth now and then no worries.

No reason to give up chocolate and soda, I would focus on giving up things that sway really strongly and both diet and regular soda are ok, as are white and milk chocolate. IF you're miserable the whole time you'll end up cheating or quitting.

That is what I did, i just made normal meals and then ate the veg and side dishes and desserts and got a girl doing htat. :)

Thanks for all the info, I been researching a lot on this site, so helpful.
Ya I took aspirin after I took out of my mirena iud two years ago, I took it for about 2 months, and still had a boy, I didn't know about swaying, I just read it would of helped not miscarrying.
With my DD I didn't take any supplements just was active because I was working, and honestly didn't snack at all. Ate maybe 2 meals a day, I was busy. And one attempt. So, I just want to follow the LE Diet.

Most deff will purchase a plan once I get a little closer to summer, deff want to try my hardest at my last shot

I honestly don't drink milk at all, never did I don't like it at all, I would drink choc milk maybe a half cup or a taste of my kiddos. I do like coffee though and just use french vanilla cream, I only have a cup a day. And I honestly don't think coffee "caffeine" sways, I cut off coffee for two months before I concieved my DS because I "read" it was harmful which is nonsense.

So honestly I believe in everything atomic says!

I started the diet 3 weeks ago. I skip breakfast (i couldn't at the start without feeling weak- i have pcos, its not severe though), don't eat red meat and then basically eat what i want as long as i eat within my limits according to the pcos version of the LE diet. Eggs, chicken, low carb veggies and yep i even eat chocolate (i'm not supposed to apparently because of the pcos, but it is a weakness lol and my pcos was 'borderline' when they diagnosed me). I usually eat english muffins for lunch with a cup of tea, a couple of scrambled eggs around 10am (i don't eat after 6pm), and pasta, brown rice or some chicken and veggies for dinner. Its working though.. so far i have lost 5kgs (11lbs). I was so lost when i started this and i am sure i annoyed the crap out of everyone here with my incessant questions even after reading the index lol, but now i have kinda got the hang of it, and its becoming more natural to eat this way

There's no magic to skipping breakfast, anyone who finds it difficult, just start off delaying it a little bit, even an hour or two may help! If you can't skip breakfast, you can try skipping another meal instead, it's just htat most of us find skipping breakfast easiest.

A bit of choc for PCOS is way better than a huge plate of spaghetti, that's for darn sure. :) Some of the darker choc. has little sugar in it so a square is ok to satisfy the sweet tooth.

The nice thing about losing weight is that it improves your insulin resistance and actually can "fix" a lot of the PCO issues. So you end up in a better position to eat that chocolate, because your body can handle it better.

I pushed back breakfast a little bit everyday, so now i leave 16hrs between dinner and my next meal. I don't eat chocolate very often because i find when i eat sugar while taking metformin *tmi* i have to go to the bathroom a lot lol

I been working out a lot and not eating breakfast is sort of hard. I stop eating now after 7pm, I already lost 4 pounds! Woo hoo, I think I need to eat breakfast some days

atomic sagebrush
February 21st, 2015, 01:24 PM
You can still eat breakfast, and still have 3 meals a day, you just push it back a little bit. If you can make it 1 or 2 hours, great. IF you can make it more like 3 or 4, even better.

I always ate 3 meals on LE Diet. Both 2 and 3 meals are allowed on LE. Some peopel do better on 2 big meals, others on 3 mediium size meals. Do what works FOR YOU.
