So my friend linked me this:

Why is clomiphene not available until later in 2015? - Fertility.ca (http://fertility.ca/news/clomiphene-not-available-later-2015/)

Clomid shortage in Canada this year? Nooooooooooo!!!

Me and hubby are going to be getting a referral to our fertility center in a few weeks (waiting for dr's appt) and Clomid was one of the first things I was hoping for to fix my crap LP issue. Plus, girl sway. But now there's a shortage?? ARGH wth!!!

Well hoping for Femara now. But has anyone in Canada experienced trouble with getting Clomid so far this year? How frustrating!!

Femara may be better anyway.

This is the first I've heard of it, no one has seemed to have problems getting any??

Sounds like they are now, this thread says people are having a hard time in Ont and looks like July before they expect more:

Attention Clomid users! - Trying for a baby - BabyCenter Canada (http://www.babycenter.ca/thread/1442607/attention-clomid-users)

And I agree about liking Femara better, but in Ontario it seems some RE's are reluctant to go for Femara first because of the off-label usage. The Clomid shortage should push them into Femara instead though.

I just e-mailed a couple of ladies I cycled with, who are doing Clomid IUIs. No shortage in Alberta

I guess it depends where you live too.

I'm actually not unhappy about the shortage, from my research I'd FAR prefer Femara for my PCO tendencies and my age. My friend used Clomid and she has similar cycles to mine, and Clomid ended up making her develop too many immature follies and made her LP even shorter. Which is about the opposite of what I need to do!!

So if the shortage means the RE will be forced to do Femara first, I have no complaints about that whatsoever. :)

Yes, I'm from Saskatchewan and I was prescribed Femara for that reason. My RE said the same as you mentioned about the unavailability of Clomid. But she too, also prefers Femara.
