View Full Version : I'm back and would love advice!

Hi ladies! I'm an IG convert who briefly posted here when I was pregnant with boy #4. Dh and I are planning our first sway attempt for the end of May, so long as everything remains on track with ovulation. After doing a LOT of reading, I'm a little confused because it seems like there's a lot of outdated information? I'd love to get your input and see if anyone could throw in some helpful advice that I might be missing or overlooking. Thanks! Hoping to get back into the mix of things here.
Me: LE diet and no red meat, aspartame, finger tip of acijel every other day, cranberry, just scratched acidilophis from the list, and vitex. Got an ion bracelet just because well, why not? Ha! I know it sounds hocus pocusy, but all four of my boys were in a full moon phase, and I should be oi'ing in new for May and June, so I figure whatever helps my chances. My cycles are regular and am hoping they stay that way. I am very lucky in that I O on day 14 give or take a day. I've given up my gym aholic ways because it don't think I can bump up my cardio from the 30 mins I do. No more weights, either.
Dh: Cutting out red meat (hell freezing over?), licorice root and aspartame. Zyrtec for both.
The one thing I'm really struggling with is timing, which I know they say is least important, but it's driving me nuts trying to figure out which method would work best for us. Aye, aye, aye.

Glad to see you on here. Genderdreaming won one me over from the IG methods as well. DH and I will be trying May or June as well.
I would ditch the cranberry for sure.
Would DH take OLE as well as LR? Those are the two I have my DH on right now. He was on LR when we conceived DD2.
We will either be doing one attempt at positive OPK or the every 4 days method.
Atomic will be sure to weigh in!

Thanks for chiming in! Forgive me, but what is OLE? I don't quite remember the acronyms/abbreviations.
No cran? Glad I asked. Is it due to the calcium in it?
I'm leaning towards abstaining with a 2-3 day cutoff, but am second guessing myself for some reason. Eeeek! I still have two months to figure it out, but I don't know why I'm so focused on it. All of my boys conceptions seemed to vary from what I recall, so that's probably why.

Never mind! I searched the forum. Can anyone recommend a brand of OLE? Is it something that should be taken all month or do you (meaning dh) stop during the 2ww? TIA!

All month long for DH. Most of our DH's use Nature's way capsules- liquid tastes awful!

I think abstaining isn't really recommended anymore but I never considered it so I'm not sure. I'm sure Atomic will pop in. I do know that it is frequency not timing which plays the big role in the girl sway. One attempt in the fertile window gets great results, if you know you normally O on CD 14 I think I would try on CD12 or CD13.

Thanks for the tips, ladies. We will be picking up some OLE ASAP.
Junie, that makes sense. Hopefully Atomic can chime in and elaborate. Swaying info has changed quite a bit since I've lurked on these forums. I'm over the feeling overwhelmed part and am now just trying to focus on what'll work best for our lifestyle.

Bellavita I would deft. recommend a custom sway plan. Especially as this is your fifth. It takes the stress out of swaying and makes you more Mary less Martha. Also LE diet, one attempt ( BD every four days so only one attempt in fertile window) plus excersize (but I can see you can't commit to that- I couldn't either) are seeing the best pink results!! Good luck really hope you get your DG xxx

The case against timing is here, if it helps at all http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-general-discussion/7691-trouble-timing.html
What we have found and science has seemed to support, is that timing is irrelevant but sticking to one attempt in the fertile window (whatever day) seems to sway pink.
Drop cran, I do not think it's safe for you. Dh can take. http://genderdreaming.com/forum/ttc-a-girl-best-practices/7086-how-lower-ph-via-supps-cran-baby-aspirin-aspartame-other-techniques.html
exercise is SUCH a good sway tactic, if there's any way to include it I would try. even if you can only do 4 days a week. I hate to see people who like and enjoy exercise, dropping it. I think that just messes with your mind and gives you more time to sit around and think about swaying..

Cranberry does nothing for swaying (our stats have shown it to be equal to the results of the site meaning it's not adding anything) and it is not safe for you to take (DW). Plus is adds nutrients.
DH takes OLE all month long. You do not take OLE at all.
RE abstain - NONE of the frequency patterns have really seemed to add anything. I no longer recommend them, although most people tend to want to start off doing them and then drop it (which I am fine with). If hubby is under 35, do abstain, if he's over 35 do FR. If he can't do reg. FR, then do the hurry up FR.
OR, you can drop frequency all together and have him do regular release with one attempt.

Thank you both for the input! I greatly appreciate it. We dropped the cran and dh has started taking OLE daily, and today is CD2, so I started my vitex. I like the idea of abstaining better. I think FR would get tiresome very easily for us.
As for cardio, do you think it would be okay to run for 30 mins, but brisk walk for the remaining 15-30 mins? I could do that easily! Thanks again.

Don't forget the alcohol (for you)! I don't know why it's rarely mentioned, but the stats have been great when the girl swayers include alcohol! Hard liquor is best since there are no added nutrients. :)

Great tip ;) Dh has wine with dinner. Is that okay too?

Running then walking is fine. You can even just walk the whole time. What's important is that you exercise without pause for the full 60 minutes. No less. Longer is fine though.
Red wine is fine for DH.

Oh whoops I think this one must have been overlooked, sorry! Never be shy about giving a "bump" because sometimes something is missed.
Yes it's fine to run part of the time and walk part of the time. The important thing is the 60 min. sustained activity without food coming in.
Agree with alcohol, we have had good results with it altho not too sure why that is just yet.
Wine is fine, we tend to err on the side of lower nutrient drinks like light beer, white wine, and spirits, but several folks have done red wine and gotten girls so I think the alcohol outweighs any nutrients in it.
Thanks so much for your patience!

Thanks, Atomic! You rock. I've decided to go ahead and make my first attempt in June. I feel like that extra month will give me a little more confidence in my sway and the fact that I get pregnant super easily makes me want to ensure I'm doing everything to my standards.
I tried to start another post, but it says it needs mod approval (?), so I'll just ask here: buttercream frosting white cake - yay or nay? Would a small slice after dinner be okay for a little dessert? I know with LE principals there aren't any restricted foods, but I didn't know if the loads of sugar in something like that swayed a certain way.

There was something weird going on with the mod approval settings that seems to be fised so please try again (altho I think I may have answered) Yes a small slice of cake, even with buttercream is fine.

Alcohol should be stopped at o? Is a small amount of pure cranberry juice daily or around attempt not helpful?

Cranberry juice does absolutely nothing for a sway. It is not concentrated enough to affect your body and it's just another source of nutrients that if anything may even sway blue. In our stats, not even the cranberry supplements did anything when taken by DW - same results as the overall stats of the site.
Re alcohol - that is up to each individual to decide. I personally think that a drink or two a day, with food, prior to BFP is probably ok, but many people will not be comfortable doing that. Every person decide that for oneself.
