View Full Version : Exercise, all and nothing?

Hi ladies. I am going to be taking a break from GD while I lead up to my next attempt as I feel I am on here too often and am concerned about my t levels but before I go I just have a couple of questions. Firstly I know with exercise it's all or nothing but I wanted to know if doing the 1 hour exercise 4-6 times a week from af to ov and then nothing during the 2WW is an option for people who would struggle to fit exercise in all month? Or would it be boy territory? Also do people do J&D and lube? Or usually one or the other? thanks.

Hi, I think it is important to continue with your sway during the 2ww. Including keeping up your exercise routine. I believe 4/5x per week is ok (this is what I did) With the Jump and dump and lube. If it's your first month trying and your not in too much of a hurry to get preggo then you could do both. Then these are the sorts of sway tactics that can be dropped if your not getting pregnant. But it's possible to get pregnant doing both j&d and lube (I did :)

I did 6x 1 hour a week whole time apart from occasional break didn't want to risk swaying blue. Having a girl in September!!

Do it all month long or don't do it at all.
Some people do both J and D and lube, and others don't. the more you do, the harder it is to get pregnant.

Thanks ladies. I thought that might be the case but thought it was worth asking anyway :-) my next attempt is in two weeks, if I started exercise now would it still benefit me or have I left it too late?

I think the longer before the better to be honest, I started three months before attempt with diet and exercise. I may be wrong though!

I also think the longer the better.
We are seeing good results even with just walking.

Thanks atomic. would it still benefit me if I started now? It would only give me a week before my attempt. I walk around the house quite a lot so fingers crossed that helps ha ha.

I'm in the middle of doing this! I'm at about 45/50 mins four times a week at the minute. I don't have time for anything else. I'll work up to the 60 minutes over time, and add in extra days. Atomic did say on another thread that the 6/7 days per week aren't hugely important, even if you can manage about 4 or 5 days a week of a minimum of 60 minutes. Its the 60 minutes thats seeing the best results. Correct me if I'm wrong though...

Lol glad I am not the only one. My boys were ill last week and exercise took a back seat and now this week I am finding it hard to get time and energy to do it. I would so take the couch potato route if the boys didn't keep me so active. My activity right now is completely boy friendly as usual!! Moderate exercise sucks lol.

I think I've left it too late to do that really as I have my next attempt next week, I thought if I could manage an hour 4 times a week I would just do but I struggled today so I'm thinking I should leave it

Hi Mandy, just saw your thread and jumping in. I am currently swaying for a girl and excersize everyday for 60 minutes. I have bought a secondhand hometrainer online, and what really helps me to stay on it for at least 60 minutes is watching all te old episodes of grey's anatomy on my IPad! It is really addictive! Just choose a tv-serie that you really find exciting and you get so destracted that you finish that 60 min in no-time:).
If I do not bicycle I walk for 60 minutes straight after my stroller pushing nu two boys!
If you are worried about your T-levels I would definitely start excersizing this two weeks leading up to your O if I were you. Hope it helps! Good luck!

Thanks for the advice :-) I do have an exercise bike and usually watch Jeremy Kyle ha ha but I seemed to struggle today, I may just persevere with it until O day but then I worry about keeping up with the exercise if I don't get pregnant this cycle. If I start it and then drop it is that boy territory? I've done the diet for 3 months now so I'm hoping that alone will help in a big way, I didn't do any exercise when I had my dd so I don't think it's make or break for me really :-)

Unless someone has tons of weight to lose and/or severe PCOS I would not recommend beginning exercise with only one week left to go.

I wouldn't worry too much about day to day exercise :-) it's part of life and we can't avoid it :-) I got my dd whilst doing my usual day to day stuff, I worked nights and was on my feet a lot (I didn't sway for her) good luck to you on your sway :-)

I wouldn't think one day of exercise should have a huge effect on your sway but then again I am fairly new to this so I'm sure someone else will know more :)
Is it considered couch potato if you do no exercise but are still active through out the day? I rarely sit down, I'm guessing that means I need to suck it up and do the exercise lol. I'm just being lazy now, I have a wedding to go to tomorrow and I will probably be in a heap after it all weekend so I will aim to start walking again on Monday! I was trying to convince DH we needed a treadmill or some other cardio friendly exercise machinery lol, needless to say that one didn't fly!
Thanks for the food luck Mandy, Sending you heaps of pink dust for your sway (well I only seem to have blue dust myself but what little pink stuff I have I'll share lol) :)

I certainly hope you are right but if atomic thinks it has then ill put my attempt back a month :-) I'm not sure to be honest but I would think so, there is no avoiding being active when you have young children is there, I have been going for walks with the kids but not for 60 mins straight and certainly not regularly over the week. I think just getting on with your usual day to day stuff is not technically classed as exercise. I'm sure atomic will clarify when she sees your question :-) It's hard to fit it in some days isn't it, that's ultimately why I never started with it, as I was worried I couldn't commit to doing it 4-7 times a week so in that case it was safer to not bother. I did buy an exercise bike but I just never got chance to use it really. Would it be worth looking at getting a second hand one? That's what I did. Thank you for the pink dust :-) I will share mine with you also :-)

You guys have to live your lives and being active with day to day stuff and other activities is fine.
Trust me, sitting around in a dark room working yourself into a panic over how your sway is going sways WAY more strongly blue than getting out and about, taking kids to the park, going to a wedding, etc.

Thank you atomic, you are a star :-) I used to be a right Martha, I was forever worrying about the state of my house, constantly trying to keep it clean and tidy but now I'm much more relaxed, I hope that's a good sign. With t levels is it most important that they are low in the run up to your attempt or during the whole time you are dieting? I guess just by diet we will be lowering our t levels.

I weigh 148lb and I'm 5ft 6, my bmi is 23.8, I don't suppose that would be classed as having a ton of weight to lose?

You're doing so great too Mandy! Well we'd first hoped June, since I wanted to be on the diet and cardio 12 weeks, but atomic convinced me to go May BUT my cycles are NOT regular yet and I don't even know that I'm ovulating regularly. There is a chance we'll miss May bc my Dh travels and idk if the timing will be inline.
What about you?

Thank you :-) I haven't done any exercise in the last 6 weeks but I'm still losing weight steadily, I think if I had carried on with the exercise I would have ended up losing too much. Fingers crossed for you for may :-) I am having my second attempt next week, I had a bfp last cycle but I had a chemical.

We don't know, it doesn't matter anyway (because we don't know all we'd be doing is guessing) and we don't even know that T levels are swaying anyway.
Put it OUT of your mind and just pretend like this is the way you live your life all the time.
