Hi Carole,

I just did a freeze only cycle with the intention of doing another cycle and pgd all together.
I have 10 frozen, only one was at 8 cell, 3 at 7 cell, a couple at 6 cell and some 4 and 5 cell embies. In your experience, can the 4,5 and 6 cell embies be biopsied on thawing and can they progress to a blast by day 5 ? Little worried about the slow ones but hoping they are girls....lol
Also , how can you get 7 cell ? dont they split in pairs.
Thanking you in advance.

Hi jils04,
When the 7th cell splits, you'll have 8 cells. The 7th was a little slow from the original group of four. 3 split in the same time frame to make 6 and the last cell of the original four makes 7. That's how you get 7 cells. The first question you asked is harder. In my experience, if we had less than 6 cells to biopsy, the outlook wasn't good but maybe your lab has a different experience. Good Luck!!!

Thanks Carol. I thought so. Guess I can hope for about 6.
