View Full Version : Thinking of dropping Vitex

Seems that for pink its getting less than stellar results anyway but I still Felt I should have *something* to give me an edge, especially if I can't get Clomid or femara; but I'm on cd 37 and I still don't know if I o'd. (Not one Pos opk)
I don't know if the cycle issue is the vitex, the diet or just plain irregularity since I just got Af back in March.
I have an appointment for femara or Clomid (I am asking straight up for it), and if do Get it (FX!) I will drop the vitex for sure.
If I don't.... I may still dump it, or at least go af to 0 (hopefully next cycle I'll know when that is). This is sort of the last piece to my sway puzzle -
Everything else is in place.

I tell ya, I may be the minority, but I wanted to share my experience. While there may have been other factors at play to decrease my fertility, Vitex messed with my regular ovulation and took four months to become regular again. If you are over 35, I would really give pause and consider if you have the time to spare if it messes things up.

also got my daughter the month after stopping vitex, of course, and it's not just people on this site who got DD this way, this dates back to IG days.

Did you ever STOP the vitex?? anyone who is on CD 37 NEEDZ ta stop the V.

We are getting best results taking it from CD 1-14 or pos OPK whichever comes first. I feel like taking it all month for months on end has not worked out for us because virtually everyone is seeming to have their O stop when doing it like that. Bafflingly, this is how nearly all naturopaths are advising people to take it so if you know of anyone on any other site who is taking it and not getting pregnant on the behest of an herbologist, help me spread the word!

:agree: and I have to say, gals, I am finding it harder and harder than ever to believe that the people on a certain website which will go unnamed could possibly have been telling the truth about what they were doing when they fell pregnant. They were all taking V and SP all month long supposedly, the impossible timing, the 6 month long abstains, not to mention all the limes that gave their green, bumpy little lives...

I did stop it; and yes you have my word that I will be sure to tell people not to take it all month, with no stopping!!!

I took vitex for a few months before I conceived my boys. The second time I took it was while nursing, trying to get my period back. And it didn't help me get my period back.

No it's an odd little herb hey? Some people respond to it the way we thought it would, but for us, not so much.

I do believe it sways pink or I wouldn't recommend it. Each individual has to weigh the risks (messing up cycles) to possible benefits. I do feel that compared with IG, lots of gals on this site are in a bigger hurry to get pregnant. Many people on IG were ok with it taking 9-12 months to conceive, by which point maybe people's cycles recover from the V?? Not sure.

I think I came across ig when I was looking for timing (shettles) and learned about the potassium thing and a bunch of ph stuff but I believed that timing was the answer (when clearly it wasn't).
I can't remember exactly how I found this site but it made sooooo much more sense - but Ya, it's more fertility friendly here and probably more ideal for gals like me who just don't have a ton of time. I'm glad I tried the vitex. I wanted to try "something" Ya know?
On another note - kinda unrelated. I'm pushing one thing out of my head as I heat up for bd.... And that is the one attempt. It's all I had with all 4 I believe (the last two for sure). But then I wasn't on LE, it was HE with protein at every meal and even though it was lower calorie and got smaller I let that go at the end and probably gained 5 pounds at the point of conception.
I am happily at the weight I was when I conceived ds4, (125lbs @5'2 bmi 23 I believe) but was hoping to be a teensy bit tinier. I still have fat stores that I wanted to bust off.
Not a big deal but I'm trying to be "mary" about the situation. Trying not to compare all my conceptions.

That's why timing hung on as long as it did, is because it's an "oh of course" thing. But dude looked thru a microscope and thought he saw big X and small Y - HE DIDN'T. Thought he saw fast Y and slow X - HE DIDN'T. And thought that X lived a long time and Y died fast. HE DIDN'T. He saw capacitated and uncapacitated sperm. This we know as a true fact. Can't be true, doesn't work, to infinity and beyond. He was wrong.

You can't possibly believe that the reason you got a boy was because you had one attempt, right? It's NEVER one thing and it for sure isn't THAT one thing. :) If one attempt swayed blue, we'd be getting drastically different results.

THe thing you have to ALWAYS remember is that if you are superduperly fertile, and CAPABLE of getting pg from one attempt (especially when badly timed like those old Shettles attempts on O for a boy used to be) then you are probably coming into TTC more set for blue to begin with. That doesn't mean that one attempt sways blue, even if 99 out of 100 people get boys doing it, if 100 out of 100 of those people SHOULD have gotten boys for other reasons it is still swaying pink, if that makes any sense.

I do get it. I am super duper fertile (not sure atm - think I'm less so than with the others - fx?) but thank you again for reminding me of the whys. I'm obviously more set for blue but happy I have done a good job pinking my life a little :)
