Hi Atomic (or anyone who knows)
I am still breastfeeding my 18 month old (ALL THE TIME...it's like she is a newborn again) and as usual my spring time allergies are acting up. They are really bad at the moment. Is there anything that I can safely take that would give me decent relief? Also, is there anything I can take that would also help my girl sway? Thanks so much!

I was taking levocetrizine, according to a list of medicins made by lactation consultants, it's safe. And it sways pink!

Thank you! Is that prescription or OTC?

Levocetrizine is prescription, cetrizine or loratadine is OTC I think. Can't use that while pregnant though, so have been itching and sneezing like crazy! So make sure you stop on time. I think AS recommends you stop after O? Not sure, I'm sure she'll chime in.

Ok great. I actually have an appointment scheduled with my regular doctor tomorrow so I can ask her about it then. Thanks! Atomic do you have anything to add?

Cetrizine is fine to take while BFing and pregnant. It is what I am taking.
Hope you feel better soon!

And pregnant? Oooh! My gp was unsure, as not much is known about it. But will see if I can have some, as this itching is so anoying.

I have allergies, some severe, and I took Zyrtec with both DS's. My OB said it is a class B, but Zyrtec and some others will soon be a class A he suspects.

I took cetirizine when breastfeeding and my kids are like yours - even at older ages they nurse quite a lot. What I do is I split the pills in half and if I take one every day or every other day, that is enough to keep them away.

I also took cetirizine when pg a few times when I had no choice.

It may but we haven't gotten the best results with it.
