So my husband and I have had a crazy couple months. He has been travelling a lot and I have been working a lot. Needless to say, our love life has been in the toilet! I had wanted to make sure we were bding for at least 70 days before our first attempt but that's in June and we will definitely not make it in time. Should I wait another 70 days before trying or can I start now and still have it work?

Just do your best from here on in. I would not have you postpone for that. There's never an ideal month.

this question is based around the idea that your body recognized your husband's sperm and is therefore more likely to have a boy because it thinks a stable male figure is present, right?

So here's my dumb question... I want to start TTC in August, currently DH and I always use condoms so we don't get pg. Should we stop using condoms then? How effective is the natural family planning method? I got pg with my baby girl the first month we start trying, so I think we're pretty fertile...

Fxgray I think it's more to do with keeping sperm as healthy as possible. Long periods of abstain is bad for sperm health and sperm count. DTD every 2-4 days keeps sperm health and sperm numbers optimal. Sperm take 72 days to develop so that's where the 70 days comes in. I don't think a full 70 days is necessary but definitely to DTD every couple of days, protected is fine, for as long as possible in the months before attempt month for optimal sperm health :) Then in attempt month DTD every other day unprotected as soon as AF leaves town with 3-5 attempts from first positive opk through O.

Maybe familiarity, it may just be the hormones present in semen. We don't know for sure. IT's also sperm health like True mentions and it may help on DH's end as well to be having regular sex with a woman.

I don't think you have any need to necessarily take chances getting pg sooner than you want, as long as you stop using the condoms at the start of the month you're planning to TTC. Sooner might be better but at the same time I don't want you to take chances.
