View Full Version : My sway - any advice?

I posted a sway a few months ago and it's almost unrecognisable from what I'm now planning  I O'd a week ago so we'll be starting our frequent BDing in around 12 days *gulp* and I want to make sure I have everything covered, so I'd appreciate any advice!

Diet - LE diet, I've lost whatever it says in my ticker! I may not be at my lowest ever adult weight but I won't be far off and I'm pretty sure I'll be at my lowest ever pre-conception weight and I'm still losing which I think is a good thing too.

Supplements - Folic 800mg, Saw Palmetto - I'll have been taking 320mg a day for around 10 weeks by the time I O, will switch to AF-O once we start trying. Vitex - I took 1000mg a day AF-O for 2 cycles and will have been taking it every day for 6 weeks by the time I O, will also switch to AF-O. Baby Aspirin - I take this 3 times a week and will take each day we DTD. Antihistimine starting on around cd9 when I usually get a gush of EWCM.

DH - No supplements yet but I'll give him a baby aspirin when I take mine once we start trying and a licorice root every night we DTD (just one, want him to be able to perform!). He's put on a little weight because I've stopped cooking us the lovely nutritious meals we used to have - he's not impressed but I've begged him not to lose it yet!!

The nitty gritty - We'll do frequent BDing. I've been to-ing and fro-ing the past couple of days regarding what to do re spermicidal condoms/Rephresh/DTD protected/unprotected and I'm wondering about this for a plan:

-Start DTD cd5.
-DTD 7 days in a row with a spermicide condom, bung in an applicator of Rephresh after the 7th night.
-DTD unprotected until (and including) the day I get a +OPK. Last month this would have meant 3 attempts, the month before it would have been 1. I hope my cycles don't suddenly get shorter but I *should* know if that's going to happen because I get a gush of EWCM 3 or 4 days beforehand and lots of abdominal cramps.
-Continue to use Rephresh every couple of days. I'll use it in the afternoon when I take my OPK so I can make sure I don't use it on the day of our final attempt.
-Hot bath/shower for DH before each attempt. Possibly a glass of wine too for acidity!
-Acijel an hour before and a JAD after for me (especially as we'll likely DTD more than once).
-Shallow release - DH apparently has a plan for this

Thank you!

That sounds pretty damn good, Z. I think you mentioned before that you want to pull out all the stops the first few times ttc and then you may relax the sway a bit if you don't get pregnant? Is that right? I have zero patience so the only thing I would do is dtd through O- but only have unprotected sex on the second release of the day in the evening. Just my 2 cents

Woohoo!!!! can't wait for your BFP! You are so dedicated Z! FX'd!

Yep, I would prefer to be pregnant this year so the new baby isn't more than 2 school years younger than DS3 so I'll do this for a couple of months and then maybe change something in month 3. If I don't even get pregnant this year then I guess I'm no longer in a hurry - although I would prefer to still be losing weight so quicker is better in that respect. I'm not keen on DTD on O day because I find it so painful. I seem to get quite inflamed or something when I O and it feels like DH is prodding me directly on my cervix which hurts!

So far I've only had to be dedicated to losing weight, this part is the scary part!

So have you ever had sex on O day when you conceived your boys? .....just thinking about the opposite factor.....maybe get him to erm.....use good ole "Palmela" and then insert a diva cup with his "low sperm count" swimmers....LOL

Gawd no, I couldn't be arsed with that!! I DTD on O day when I conceived DS2, I remember how much it hurt! I don't know about the other boys. I will be at around O-12 (or less) if we DTD the night I get my +OPK because I always seem to O the next evening so it's not much of a cut-off at all really!

Thanks sassy! For some reason I'm not struggling on the LE diet. This is odd for me because I've struggled after a few weeks on every other diet I've ever done (and there've been lots!). I think because I eat so much sugary crap there isn't really anything left to crave!! DH keeps making comments about how unhealthy I'm eating and it really winds me up because I've explained why I'm eating what I'm eating so many times - I think he just switches off when I get into the detail of it all! The only time I struggle is at work when I'm waiting for 12pm to eat my lunch, because I'm bored and my lunch is on my desk calling me I usually eat at around 11/11.30 instead but that's fine too. If my tummy rumbles I have some diet coke or sugar free gum and that keeps me going. It's nice to be wearing smaller clothes too :D I O in 3 weeks too so we'll be in the 2ww together!

You think using the spermicide condoms then switching to Rephresh is ok Atomic? It seemed like it might be a good compromise and less to think about all at once!

I'm starting to feel excited too - I was actually looking at cots on the internet yesterday :D Our other babies slept in a hammock but there were some concerns about its safety a while back and although I think it was probably a storm in a teacup the company decided to cease trading (Amby) and it leaves me feeling uncomfortable. I want one of those little bedside cribs so I can co-sleep without worrying about rolling on to the baby.

Now I just need to get pregnant - I wish I could feel excited about the amount of sex I'm going to have over the next few weeks! I told DH to do whatever he needs to do to finish quickly lol. Apparently I need to go for a wax :D :D

I had a cosleeper- an ArmsReach. I loved it but I found myself becoming lazy and not putting the bay back in the cosleeper after I had finished nursing him...LOL. Otherwise, I loved having him close:) It was really nice.

That doesn't bother me once they get a bit bigger DM, I often got DS3 up for a feed in the night and woke up in the morning with him in the crook of my arm - but I'd be terrified of that with a tiny newborn. We don't have a big bed and DH sleeps like a log!!

Yeah.....tiny newborn stage=one sleepless Mama in my house. I do have them in bed from the beginning but my hubby sleeps like a statue! I swear that man doesn't move a muscle the entire night! I think he makes up for the lack up movement with his snoring...ugh. I also tend to have tummy sleepers so from day 1 DS3 slept in between us on his belly.....I slept very lightly the first 3 months, I tell ya! He had very good head control from an early age but I still got the lectures from the health nurse. He just would not sleep on his back AT ALL. Anyway, about waking with them in the crook of your arm....DS3 is in bed with us and I wake up in the am with him usually attached to my boob.... and his head smells just like my armpit! Mmmmm......charming! LOL!

What is the matter with me, I'm now thinking of using the condoms until I get a +OPK then BDing unprotected 2 or 3 times through O. So indecisive!

^^^This sounds great! You've done so freaking well on the diet Z....I would give those swimmers a fighting chance:) after all, they'll need to make their way up through all that gel and low ph secretions....just make sure your hubby stays the heck away from your cervix!!! :)

The gel too DM, I've found a new one that I'm considering using!! I will have a definite plan soon, promise :D

I've had a rethink re the spermicide condoms because I'm worried that I haven't tried them before - I'd hate to discover I have an allergy or that they cause my pH to rise right when I don't want it to (and I won't be testing my pH so I wouldn't even be aware!). After much deliberation I think I'm comfortable with this:

-Start DTD cd5.
-DH to release without DTD for next 7 days
-DTD unprotected until after I've ovulated, ie. BD through O.
-Aci-jel a couple of times early in our cycle (so it's not completely new to my body) then an hour before each attempt. JAD after.
-Hot bath/shower for DH before each attempt. Possibly a glass of wine too for acidity!
-Shallow release

Does this sound ok? I'm so over the timing aspect - if I have less overall/more acidic CM anyway and DH has lower sperm count/less semen from regular BDing AND I use a little Aci-jel to provide more acidity and some sticky stuff for the sperm to make it through AND I dump some of them straight after anyway, then I think I at least want there to be an egg there to meet whichever have made it through all that so I stand a chance of getting pregnant.

I considered adding Sylk and the other product I found (Balance Activ) but came back to trying to keep it simple and the least number of things to remember as possible. I'm on CD1 today so I'll add all the stuff I need to remember to my diary and cross them off as I go through the month so I've done all my thinking upfront - that's the plan anyway :D

I'm going to try to be on the computer less in the evenings because there's no way DH and I will feel romantic if we sit on opposite sofas with our respective laptops on every evening - and with this frequent release/BDing we've got alot of 'romantic' to fit in this month!!

I like your simple plan the best because I feel like it gives less stress and less room for error. :agree:

With anything that is very important, there's always the temptation to keep adding more and more but sometimes, less is more!! Remember the 80-20 rule..."You get 80% of the results with 20% of the effort and to get that remaining 20% you have to expend 80% of the effort!" And along with that 80% of the effort, sometimes comes higher T levels unfortunately and ALWAYS comes less chance at pregnancy.

Wishing you the very very very very very best of luck Zana.

Thanks atomic. I agree simple is best - even if it takes me a while to figure out which simple plan to go with
