View Full Version : Early Ovulation Question

Ladies,
According to my temps and ewcm I ovulated cd 8
At my I obgyn today he told me that an egg at cycle day 8 wouldn't be genetically mature and that one couldn't get pregnant with a cd 8 egg.
Does anyone have any experience with early ovulation and pregnancy?
I don't always ovulate early - last month was cd 18.
I would love for this month to be THE month but feels uncertain after what he said.
Here is my chart -- any thoughts?

They say a lot of things. I know of several people who have gotten successfully pg with CD 8-10 O. Personally I am not convinced that's what day you ovulated on anyway.

I'm so sorry your doctor told you that! That information is just plain untrue! I ovulated on CD5 with DS1, and he is the most healthy and smartest person I've ever met (very true- he has total memory recall, which is rare!)!

Since the dots on CD 9 and 10 are both open it is totally possible that you could have Oed on either of those two days and the open dots are just throwing it off. Don't worry about temp dip today that is just secondary estrogen surge

CD8 is not too early and it's very possible to conceive a healthy baby from early O. I myself conceived from CD5 O and AFAIK it was completely normal.
But, I think it is very likely you haven't actually Oed yet and that temp drop is your estrogen surge that triggers your LH surge which triggers O, I.e. you will probably O within the next several days. I would feel more sure if I could see all your paat charts, but certainly a .3 temp shift is pretty weak, enough to make me doubt O. Post O temps should be higher than yours.

Were you doing OPKs?

I didn't this month around day 8 bc I didn't expect ovulation then I tested around day 10 and the line was dark but not positive and then day 11 and there was hardly any line.
I did test last month and it was positive day 18.

It's hard for me to temp the same time everyday .. And I usually wake once during the tight.
This was my temp this morning and I woke up many times throughout the night.
Does this mean many of my temps are inaccurate?

Not necessarily. I always woke at different times too, but I always took my temp after the longest stretch of sleep regardless of the time. You can do either (temp at a set time or after the longest period of sleep, just be consistent). I just couldn't do a set time, because DS2 was still waking at various times of the night due to teething.

It just means you shouldn't give them quite as much weight, that's all.
Another thing you can do is temp at night. This is riskier because things like eating, exercising, drinking can change your temperature but if you are careful you can often get it to work for you (esp. if you temp vaginally)but if you start temping at night you have to stick with that, don't switch back and forth between day and night.
