View Full Version : AF late on femara

I know I might be jumping to conclusions too quickly but I'm starting to panic
And think maybe taking femara ( 2.5 mg cd 4-8) unsupervised for one cycle gave me some sort of cyst.
My cycles are always on time and never late. Today will be 3 days late.
HPT negative at 13 DPO.
I have been having pms symptoms since a week ago but much worse.
Last few days I have had ovulation type pains and moderate back ache that shoots down to the back of my thighs occasionally.

I know 3 days is not too late to be panicking over but since I took it unsupervised and with AF being late ( it's never late. Sometime even early) and me having some pain I can't help to maybe think the femara did something weird.

I just want AF to show up so I can move on.

Any input is really appreciated.

You ovulated late or possibly haven't Oed yet. You need to keep having attempts.

Femara can cause late or early ovulation. It means nothing that you normally ovulate right on time.

Femara can also fix short LP so if you have occasionally been having a short LP, it will prob. go to the full 14 days.

Are you panicking over this?

Yes I'm panicking over this. I'm pretty sure I ovulated.
At what point should I start worrying about a cyst?
I'm currently at cd 29.

Thanks

Ok. Deep breath. The odds are all but nil you had a cyst. Of all the people who ever took a fertility med on this site I only know of 2 cysts and both were taking higer doses than you were and had PCO.

You ovulated late. That is what happened, 99.9% chance. I would not worry about a cyst yet. Even if it is a cyst, it will resolve on its own, AF will come, and then you'd take the Femara on your regularly scheduled days. The only thing that would happen that could be bad is if it got very big and/or it could burst, which hurts. But then it goes away and everything comes back to normal again (and you can def. have this happen without being on Femara, I had one once and it hurt like a beeyotch, even tho it did not burst.)

I had a cyst when I was 24. I was in excruciating pain and went in to see my OB. When she was examining me, it ruptured. It seriously was the worst pain of my life- I would gladly go through child birth five times over. My ovary was fine afterward and it has not happened again.

You will know if you have a cyst- it will be more than just uncomfortable and not just a late AF, trust me!

:agree: mine was like a pulsating radioactive bead where my ovary was. positions, heating pad, nothing helped. Tylenol didn't touch it!

Wow all these symptomatic cysts!! LOL I'm starting to think I must have no pain receptor nerves in my ovaries or something, because I've never felt anything in them.

I had a cyst in Nov from (stupid cursed) Lolo bcp, and it was a good size too. I didn't have any pain or anything but it did jack my estrogen and held off AF. Didn't require treatment and it was annoying to wait, but eventually it went away on its own within a few weeks and I got my AF. Mosts cysts do resolve on their own, or people get put on bcp to settle them down. Personally I'd never take bcp to resolve a cyst since I'm weird and my system just does not play well with bcp at all.

I have really bad O pain too. Enough to be life disrupting about 40% of the time. Maybe its that we have extra pain receptors (and I"d be happy to pass them along to others LOL!! if anyone wants them!!)

I must have a pair of them too! By the time I got my BFP, my O pains were so bad that they scanned me to be sure one wasn't rupturing. My corpus luteum cyst on my left ovary was so huge that the tech put Giant down for the measurement! Lol! I asked her and she said that once they get as big as mine, their measuring system via US isn't accurate any more!! I'm 12 weeks and 2 days and I still feel it, and I don't think it has recessed yet!
