View Full Version : What plan to sway for a girl

Hi mums.

I'm currently swaying for a pink after 2 boys (both 1BD).

I'm 29 and hubby 37. We had a 2 months break after trying for 4months. Also doing the girls diet and taking supplements. My ph is 5.5 but will try to get it lower.

After reading a lot of information, I don't know which way to go for my plan to TTC a girl this month. BD every day from AF to O for 4 months didn't work.

My Af arrived today and my O happens between d15-17 with a 26-30day cycle. We will try Shettles (not confident in trying 0+12).
If I O on d16,

Abstain until day 10 and BD on 10,12,14(first +OPK) with a 2 days cut off

or abstain until d10 and bd until d14

I'm excited but a bit scared at the same time. I just needed reassurance to TTC girl. What do you think? Would love to hear from you all.

Welcome :). We usually do things a bit differently here. Abstain is not really good for men over 35. It harms sperm health. What most people do here is one attempt when they get a positive OPK. One attempt has been getting great results for pink for us and by timing it when you have a positive OPK you have much better odds of conception. You can DTD any time you like during your cycle - just use a condom or withdrawal. Come and join us in the June TWW thread!

Thank you. So how often does DH have to release his little friends?

I will join in.

one attempt at +opk. yield great result here. Too many bd during fertile period will put u in boy zone.

monitor your cervical mucus.. Try not to have ewcm. I highly suspect there is correlation for ewcm for boy and cm for girl.

BD every day from AF to O is not a high rate of conception because your husband's sperm count is really low by the time the egg arrives.

You can't abstain due to your husband's age.

Shettles timing drastically reduces odds of conception and doesn't work anyway.

Having more than one attempt in the fertile window really lowers odds of pink, so my recommendation is for you to either BD unprotected every 4 days starting after AF and continuing thru ovulation OR have hubby release every 2-4 days on his own or with you, with a condom, and then go for one attempt the day before you expect to ovulate or day of positive OPK whichever is easier for you

Every 2-4 days on his own or with you, with a condom.

OR we have been trying the every 4 day method where you BD unprotected eveyr 4 days starting after AF ends and going through confirmed ovulation.

Thank you atomic for your advice. For so long I believed in Shettles. But ill try every 2-4days.

Is it ok if the attempt is between 1-4days after the last release? I know more that 4 days the sperm is at his best for boys?

They're not at their best for boys. It's just higher sperm count when he releases 2-4 days apart. There are still 50-50 X and Y sperm, something about the one release makes more girls for reasons we don't understand. It is ok for the attempt to be 1-4 days after last release. But don't go to 6-7-8 days because that is not safe due to your husband's age. May make for bum swimmers.

Just want to clarify, if you do the unprotected sex method that HAS to be every 4 days. If he's relelasing on his own with one attempt, then you can do every 2-4 days.

Thank you princessCharlotte. So the less ewcm the better for girls?

Thank you Atomic for the response. Im due to O next week, until then it will be frequent release and 1 attempt closer to the day.

THANK YOU!

that's the theory, but many of us did get girls with some visible EWCM and you need at least a bit to conceive. :)

I will look into how to reduce it. I have been taking supplements, drinking a lot of peppermint tea, cranberry juice, milk.

yes like atomic said, is a theory.
But u can start with less ewcm and monitor.
If hard to convieve for months due to absence of ewcm, then u may consider drop out the foods that reduce it. Afterall, ewcm does help to conceive easily. And remember one attempt, LE diet and exercise are combo! dont go for ala carte!

i took cranberry pill and zyrtec from AF to O.
and only creamy CM so far

If i missed eating these, I will have tons of ewcm near O day.

I don't like women taking cranberry because I do not think it's safe enough. Everyone who does want to take it, that is your call to make of course but be sure you stop it at ovulation in months you are TTC and if you have bleeding, bruising, heavy Af you should consider dropping it.

Zyrtec 5 days before O thru day before O. There is no need to take it earlier in the cycle

So many of us got pH opposites both girl to boy and boy to girl that it became very hard to believe in it any more. I got a boy with pH of 4.5-5!

Thank you for the link. I just wanted to ask also the big O should be avoided at the attempt?

Yep most people do avoid big O if possible. There is an essay on that too lol. Not a deal breaker but if you can manage without it that may help :P

That is the conventional wisdom but we have done quite a few polls on this and it didn't seem to be an overwhelming trend. I had one with my DD, not much of one, but still did have one. http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-general-discussion/27912-o-no-orgasms-swaying.html#post378932
